Feeling like crap 1 week post op

Recommended Posts

I Was feeling okay since surgery. But day 5 I started feeling horrible. Not only was I starving. My acid reflux is terrible. Day 6 I started my nexium as per docs orders. I'm having such a hard time with liquids. I feel like I have a huge pill stuck in my throat and the middle of my chest. When I breath heavy my stomach has a slight pain like its full. It's the strangest thing!! I go to my post op appointment tomorrow. Anyone else had similar issues?

My day was day 6 I almost passed out in the shower yesterday and felt horrible! I had appointment with my surgeon yesterday. He said it was just body adaptation. I also needed fluids so I had to get hooked up to an IV for 2hrs! Today I feel a little better but my stomach is very sore and I'm getting hot flashes when walking around that make me super nauseous! Went to check out a gym thought I wasn't gonna make it got home drank some poweraide felt better. I also started pureed foods and my stomach is always growling I feel hungry I'm so ready to be through this phase!

Sorry to hear about your issues. I got sleeved on May 9th but am not allowed any pills yet. My doctor prescribed a Prevacid capsule that I break and eat medicine out of. That has helped me. Good luck with your appointment tomorrow! Hope all is well.

I open my Nexium capsule also but it hasn't helped. If this pain in the middle of my chest would go away I think id feel 100 times better

Wow I'm so happy it isn't just me! I am a week post op today and I seriously wake up miserable :( . I can't keep anything down, I'm ALWAYS spitting (like I'm doing chewing tobacco), & I too have the same feeling in my chest ! I just tried eating a few bites of a creamy Soup and I ended up in a throw up spazam for 5 minutes and now I'm literally shaking ! I have my appointment with my surgeon on Thursday and believe me if they had my old stomach on stand by I would be the first person to have it re-attached ! I am so over this ! I apologize for the rant btw lol !

My worse day was two I was so sick and was thankful I was in the hospital still. At four weeks out I still have days sometimes of nausea but it eases. A lot is not getting in the right Protein because I just can't drink like they want. This is the first week of solid food and four bites had me full. I did have a chip ( one ruffle piece) yesterday and that eased my nausea. I think it helped absorb the stomach acid. Getting my body use to all the new things I can't eat or drink and my head which wants all of it on the same page is difficult.

Have you tried gasx for the chest pain that may help.

It will get better!!, that said, sometimes a good rant will help too. Ask Dr about Mylanta. I found that in liquid would help that burning throat. Keep your Soups clear unless the Dr says otherwise and get a 2 oz measuring cup (1/4 cup). It will be your friend for a month or more.

And again, it will get better!!

I feel the same way!!! Only good thing is I'm not throwing up. Just feel like I have something blocking what's going down!! I tried Gas X and that didn't help a lick. I just want to eat and feel ok

Nolagirl- I had the same terrible chest pain with lightheadedness. Saw the DR yesterday and here told me to use the breathing thingy (don't remember what it's called) every two hours. It's a mucus clot that gets stuck and can eventual cause pneumonia if you don't clear it. I did what here said and within the first hour I felt better, it did come back over night, so keep breathing! Good luck! Keep us posted.

Losing my hair in clumps and still dealing with "stomach" issues from gallbladder removal surgery. On the positive side I'm doing better about meeting protein and water goals and taking my vitamins, so yay? 🤷‍♀️

I've hit a stall 9 months out. I'm not worried, though. My fitness levels continue to improve and I have nearly accomplished my pre-surgery goal of learning to scuba dive! One dive left to complete to get my PADI card 🐠
I was able to go for a 10K/6mile hike in the mountains two days ago just for the fun of it. In the before days, I might have attempted this, but it would have taken me 7 or 8 hours to complete and I would have been exhausted and in pain for the next two days. Taking my time with breaks for snacks and water, I was finished with my wee jaunt in only 4 hours 😎 and really got to enjoy photographing some insects, fungi, and turtles.
