Scared and Execited at the same time

Recommended Posts

My nerves are in overdrive, I'm approaching 39 in July and I know I want to have made a change by 40. This is the closest I have ever felt to actually being able to achieve my goal. Insurance has approved the procedure so the ball is rolling. I'm at a point where I am over food and just want the basics but as i approach a surgery date I have thoughts of "my last meal". Is this a normal thought? Just wondering

jaedwards...I was put on the sugar busters diet for my pre-op so I did get a chance to plan my last meal and was very leary of staying away from the sugar but had a good meal actually, just made sure it was under my 7 grams of a day. it is also normal to be scared and excited at the same time. you will do fine and we will be here for you afterwards. just make sure that you listen and follow the instructions that you doctor give you after surgery, don't give up and things will be just fine. please know you will be uncomfortable after surgery it is not simple surgery...so embrace that okay? you will feel better everyday a little better everyday okay...but don't think its all fun and games...not trying to scare you but being honest with you. I'm here if you need me, but there are loads on here that have such good advice, so trust them...HealthyNewMe, Gowalking, TooMuchFun, Catfish87, LisaCaron, Bandista...they are good to call upon too okay...so know that I will be thinking of you dearheart. you will do just fine and look 10 lbs already!!! Yeah!!!!

Congrats on your upcoming surgery!! You're taking charge of your health in a big way so Ii's totally normal to go through a full range of emotions right now. This process will for sure change your whole outlook on food, but I too had thoughts of a last meal! My surgery date was scheduled and then suddenly moved up and I had to go on my liquid diet the next day so I went out to The Cheesecake Factory and overindulged one last time. It was sort of a farewell to my old lifestyle and I don't think there's anything wrong with that :)

Best of luck to you on your journey!!! You're going to do great.

(If you want to read more about my journey, I detailed it in my blog from the beginning of all the insurance stuff and the link is in my signature.)

No need to think "last meal" because you will have a lifetime of wonderful meals ahead. They are just smaller and probably smarter. I feel like I can have everything I want, just in smaller portions at appropriate intervals. I don't feel like I'm denying myself anything. It's all rather amazing, really! Good luck to you -- this is by far the best decision I've made in who knows how long.

True! And you can buy better quality food because you eat less of it. Not to mention your friends picking up the tab because "you didn't eat all that much". I love it!

Wow. .. I love the new thinking. I also just got the call today that things are moving faster than planned. I could have the surgery in as little as 2 weeks. Wow a lot can happen in 24 hours. I go tonight for my ekg and bloodwork. I know I'm ready. Thank you for being so nice and I love the replies. I'll keep you posted.

I was banded on Jan. 30th, my preop began on the 15th. I say this truthfully. I made alterations to my lifestyle before being banded, but when the 15th hit it was an OVERHAUL entirely, so much I didn't take to mind was a big change. I kept telling myself "no last meal!" Over and over again, and no regrets of not having one. You got this! You're almost there, and guess what, you've made it farther than most people, and you're going to go sooo much farther. It takes so much courage to dedicate yourself as much as you have so far, and there is a wonderful life ahead of you.

Before I got banded I looked up every kind of personal stories from people, and from what I've learned. When I began to feel weak, and life would beat me down with my diet, I pushed back, and I pushed back hard.

269lbs to 193lbs as of this week.

Congrats, keep us updated.

I have no clue where to upload this, so I'll put it here. This is pre-op vs the morning of my 6 month appointment! In office I weight 232, that's 88 lbs down since my highest weight, 75 lbs since my surgery weight! I can't believe this jacket fit... I am smaller now than the last time I was this size which the surgeon found really amusing. He's happy with where I am in my weight loss and estimates I'll be around 200 lbs by my 1 year anniversary! My lowest weight as an adult is 195, so that's pretty damn exciting to think I'll be near that at a year. Everything from there will be unknown territory!!

I changed my profile image to a molecule of protein. Why? Because I am certain that it saved my life.

That's brilliant! You've done amazing!! I should probably think about changing my profile picture at some point. Mine is the doll from Squid Games. Ironically the whole premise of the show is about dodging death. We've both done that...

Two years out. Lost 120 , regained 5 lbs. Recently has a bout of Norovirus, lost 7 pounds in two days. Now my stomach feels like it did right after my surgery. Sore, sensitive to even water.  Anyone out there have a similar experience?

      April Surgery
Am I the only struggling to get weight down. I started with weight of 297 and now im 280 but seem to not lose more weight. My nutrtionist told me not to worry about the pounds because I might still be losing inches. However, I do not really see much of a difference is this happen to any of you, if so any tips?
      Thanks
