im male and 47 yrs old. im 3.5 weeks post surgey and the weight loss was going great guns until last week - ive lost a total of 28 pound since the start of my pre op 'liver shrinkage diet so thats 28 pounds in 5.5 weeks in total since ive been 'on the programme'. im now onto 'soft solids' after passing through the pureed food stage quite easily ( tip - small pots of my 8 month old daughters baby food did the trick for work day lunches !! ) i havnt had a 'fill' yet but the weight loss has stopped. ive never really felt uncomfortable with this and was mobile driving and doing my desk job within a efw days after surgery . im now quite peckish towards the end of the day !! no problems with the recovery but i must mention that the Constipation can be a little un nerving even though i drink plenty of Water - anyway - ive stalled -- is the normal ? any solutions ?

The road to weight loss is never a straight path. There are many twists, tutns, and PLATEAUS (or "stalls") along the way...... so, yes, completely normal. I, personally, avoid a lot of the let down associated with a stall, by not weighing daily or even weekly. I'm seven years older than you, and I can say that I let that scale rule my life for 53 years. A year ago, well before my surgery, I made up my mind to weight monthly, at my doctor's office only....... very liberating for ME. The thoughts behind a stall is that your body is "catching up" with all that is happening to it. I have done a lot of reading about stalls and plateaus. There are several thought process behind what one can do to get weight loss going again...... Carb cycling, low calorie days followed by a day or two with a higher calorie intake, changing exercise routines. Look into High Intentesity Intervals Trainng as far as cardio goes. Just know that this is temporary. You will start losing again.. We all want quick weight loss. I opted to take this journey as it comes. The weight will come off, unfortuanately on its own terms though! Best Wishes!

I have been stalled for three months. I had a fill this past Friday. I have a 10 cc band and now have 10cc. I'm not feeling anywhere close to the restriction when I had 9.8cc and went to the 10cc. Is it possible it can take a few days to kick in?

Is it possible it can take a few days to kick in? I've only been banded since Sept 30th and started my fills Nov 1st. I'm so scared I'm not going to get the results I expected. Especially when I have a friend that had the sleeve two days after my surgery and in down to 108lbs. That's not what's she has lost that is what she weighs. I'm happy for her , but would like to see this Plato end.

Size66, perfectly normal. The topic just before yours title "starting plateau" asks the same question. Read this article for an explanation about early plateaus.

Jammie, you've hijacked Size66's topic. You should start your own topic/thread?

Re: Your dilemma, 10CC in a 10CC band is troubling? What are you eating? Can you give us a daily menu of things you eat?

Has your doctor offered to fill you under fluoroscope(X-Ray)?

I didn't lose any weight while I was transitioning into the new food stages. I know it's frustrating because you lost all that weight at the beginning and now you're not, even though you're eating next to nothing still. I went for 2 weeks without losing (or gaining) any weight. So don't worry, it's normal! What actually helped me was eating more calories...I know it sounds counterproductive, but my body goes into starvation mode very easily. If I consistently eat less than 1,000 - 1,200 calories a day, I stall out and don't lose any weight. So make sure you're getting in enough calories and plenty of Protein. You can also increase your exercise routine, or start one if you haven't already.

Best of luck to you!

Definitely make sure you eat your Protein. That has happened to me before. I eat almost nothing and then I don't lose weight. But you have to keep in mind the body will go into starvation mode instantly if it's not receiving enough nutrition. So often I eat less than 1200 cal but as long as I get my protein intake I'll still lose the weight. Also every so often I eat something with a little fat in it just to release my leptin. It really just comes to finding a healthy diet with a lot of protein. You're only four weeks in so it may be time for your first fill. When I stalled, I stalled for about three weeks around 240. And then I got my fill and and started losing 2 pounds a week. So don't feel like you're alone in this, we've all been through it. This too shall pass.

Losing my hair in clumps and still dealing with "stomach" issues from gallbladder removal surgery. On the positive side I'm doing better about meeting protein and water goals and taking my vitamins, so yay? 🤷‍♀️

I've hit a stall 9 months out. I'm not worried, though. My fitness levels continue to improve and I have nearly accomplished my pre-surgery goal of learning to scuba dive! One dive left to complete to get my PADI card 🐠
I was able to go for a 10K/6mile hike in the mountains two days ago just for the fun of it. In the before days, I might have attempted this, but it would have taken me 7 or 8 hours to complete and I would have been exhausted and in pain for the next two days. Taking my time with breaks for snacks and water, I was finished with my wee jaunt in only 4 hours 😎 and really got to enjoy photographing some insects, fungi, and turtles.
