WOMBAT!!!

I know what you mean...our little thread if slowly fading away...I hope it's because we're all doing so well and don't need the support....but we still need each other to maintain the success.

I think that I am going to start Couch 2 5K again. I got as far as 7 weeks and then my grandmother passed and I stopped. It rained here in Dallas today--so it's not that hot...

Hey all! I'm HERE!

So sorry I've been in hiding.

Still not losing. Still struggling with wanting to eat (and eating!) crap foods. I'm in a huge slump. When I eat the RIGHT things I have GREAT restriction.... so it's all on ME to make the right choices...

I've been MIA cause I got a puppy 4 weeks ago today, and he has consumed my whole world! lol. I'm so in love with him. He's a Lhasa Apso/Poodle mix. So stinkin cute. Anyway. When I'm at home I'd really just rather play with him than play online. I have been so neglectful of all of my online friends - I'm sorry! - I think about you all so often, and i hope you are doing well. I'd like to see everyone pipe up this coming week and write a blurb about how you've been doing - the good/bad/ugly... ANYTHING!

here is my puppy - this was the night I got him, he was 10 weeks old.

I am not a Junie but a May 07 person. Suzzie..cute pup.....I love dogs, and life somtimes gets in the way, and it is part of it. when you are stuggling we tend to hide from others...I DO IT ALLOT...but we are all here for you and for support.

I am struggling too with my loss. I wasnt biking as much, I am not making good food choices, and you are right...It is up to us at this point...which makes it harder. if i would get sick ever time I put something in my mouth that was bad for me, it would be allot easier. But that does not happen.

We can do this......Lets get going !!! I am here for you if you ever need anything....

Hello all June friends!!!! I am sorry for being MIA.

I have been the same, hanging around 189/192. Not happy with that but I feel lucky for not gaining. I hardly eat meal food, for I still have a hard time getting it down. so I give up and eat crap instead, still not alot of it! I told my dh that even with this I feel I should lose more. but it is AGE, turning 50 soon does not help. I am not making excuses, but age does challenge us. My dh and I took our two dogs for a long walk today, and I even ran some of it. I really had a good time, if I would only keep up with it.

suzzie I love your puppy. he is so cute!! I can relate to the story, nothing ends up being free! We adopted our one dog, Ace. He is a mix and very cute. But the first week we had him my son was not watching him and he ate a jar I had filled with these little glass crystals. we had to feed him cotton so when he pooped it out it would not cut him. this is after xrays, etc costing us $$$ But we love him. I wish you luck with him.

suzzzie, rhonda, and others!! we can do this!! I know it. I am going to a lapband support group with some friends that I met on the site. we have been in touch since the June thread when we all started. It is an hour away, but worth it. I need to go to more. I think this is like other "diets" that we lose our focus after a while. the good thing about the band is you can get an adjustment and it won't really let you eat alot.

Sorry for not being around. I will try not to be gone so long. Anyone hear from Stef??

I think I need a support group, but... yeah. I'm just going to make excuses. Lol..

Hello everyone! Sorry about not checking in the last few months but I have been really busy the last few months. I quit going on LBT at work because someone on the boat has been looking at all the sites people have been on and I don’t want anyone at work to know about my band. I went to Asia in May and I have only been back to work and move out of my house. I am now residing in Thailand for the most part. I really enjoy it out here and I plan on staying for a least a few more months. I am not really losing any weight but on the other hand I have not gained in along time either. I got within just 2 lbs of my goal in Jan then I gain some weight back. Right not I am right around 185-190lbs which is about 10-15 lbs more than my goal but I also get a lot of better feedback about my looks than I did before the weight gain. I have not really been exercising much the last few months because of an injury I got a few months back. Anyhow I just wanted to say Hi to everyone and sorry but I have not really looked at the past posts because I think it will talk me 3 weeks just to get caught up. Talk to you all later and I hope all is well.

Insub: are you planning on visit Asia at all?

Lookin' good Captain Dan. Love the pic!

Nothing new with me to report - hanging where I have been. I am not unhappy, but wish I could get in gear and lose some more.

Hubby is doing great - 8lbs away from goal of 200lbs, that will make 148lbs lost for him total. He has good restriction, but has trouble sometimes because he forgets to chew. I on the other hand still need some more restriction, but haven't made time for a fill. I am busy with work (in GA tonight), house, and school activity - same old excuses!

Hope others are doing better - would love to hear from everyone!

Danbo you look awesome!

I hope everyone is doing well. I'm slowly getting fills again after a complete unfill and 1 month rest. I gained about 5 pounds back. I'm really ready to get some weight off...the next 40. It's just simple math really, eat less than you burn.

Like Jacut says, shut my gob and move my ass.

Hi everyone!!!

I am the same KT that started this thread, but somehow managed to lose my connection to lapbandtalk and had to get a new login!! Anyway, I came back to say hi! Seems our wee thread is losing momentum... I truly hope it's because everyone is doing so well :-)

The last time I posted I was frustrated with my weight loss but optimistic that I could turn things around... well I am pleased to report that I had a fill (9mls in a 10ml band) and wow.... restriction, frustration with restriction, etc etc I've had it all!!! Anyway, I finally passed my "original" goal weight. BMI says I am normal!!! YAY!!!! Unfortunately for me I've moved the goal posts and now still have 5kgs to go "keep on trucking"... I am soooo determined that I'll be there by Xmas!!!!

NSV: The other day someone said to me... "look at you, skill as skinny as ever"!!! OMG, I have never been skinny but how nice is that!!!

So many of us started in June 2007... I hope that you are all happy, healthy, satisfied. It's not so easy but it is attainable and you all deserve it!

LOL

KT I am glad you have done so well. I am not one of the banders that has. I have trouble with making good choices. I have to admit I love my chocolate. It is too hard for me to give up. I try to be good for a while but it never lasts. I know I have to exercise more and watch what I eat. It is going to take me a long while to get to a goal. Who knows if I will ever get there. I still think banding is good for me. I probably would have gained so much weight if I didn't have it done.

Have I asked this here before??

Alli... Should I take it to help keep me from over indulging in ice cream, Cookies, etc? I know for a FACT that I choose sweets because they go down soooo easily. I eat them because I can eat and eat them without feeling restriction. I can eat almost as much ice cream as I did pre-band. I get frustrated with 'real' food cause I WANT to EAT. If eating real food, like last night, I ate maybe HALF of a chicken breast and was done. I feel defeated when I can't eat very much real food, but also know that if I were to get an unfill (to allow me to eat a more 'proper' meal successfully) that I would probably use that to eat more junk food.

I dunno guys... It's HARD!!! My head says I 'need need need sugar', my body says 'you're going to explode!!!' I'm frustrated. I can't eat salads at all. Most veggies get stuck within 2-3 bites. I'm NOT a fruit eater, never have been. Not much of a meat eater anymore, and I really believe that is because I can't eat much of it. bread just tastes nasty to me now, though when I do have a dinner roll or something I feel like a stay puff marshmellow (wo)man.

The MOST REDICULOUS thing is that even when I am stuck-ish or 'full' off of a 1/2 chicken breast, dinner rolls, etc... I can STILL EASILY get a cookie or ice cream down. In fact I beleive it helps in the discomfort of that 'full/stuck-ish' feeling.

Am I crazy?? WHY WAS THIS SOOOOOO EASY FOR ME FOR THE FIRST 6-7 MONTHS AND THE PAST (almost) YEAR HAS BEEN SOOOOOO HARD?! Am I mentally defeating myself?

(Any and all advise or butt kikcing are MORE than welcome, in fact are incouraged... either by reply here or in a private message.)

Suzzie, I know just how you feel. I too am able to eat all the junk food I want and never feel over full. It is so easy.

Then when I try to eat the good, healthy food, I am stuffed.

I have been stuck the past couple months with the weight. Haven't lost any and thankfully haven't gained any.

I went in a week ago for a small fill. The NP said that that is everyones problem. The junk just goes down way to easy, so we all tend to pick that over a better choice.

I know with me, it is my head that keeps telling me that I need to eat more, not my stomach. But, how in the H do I shut my dang head off.

I think I need some kind of pills to treat my mental self, not my stomach.

I tried the Alli for a month. For me it did not make any difference at all. I did not have any of the side effects that it warned against. I wanted to have the side effects. Maybe then I would know it was helping. I don't think I eat very hi fat meals, and that is when the Alli really helps.

I don't know what to do. Any one else got ideas.

I have been exercising three to four times a week, and I think that is what has been saving me from gaining.

HELP.

Question for anyone, how did you get your mind right before surgery? Like as far as eating better foods and just doing better in general? I'm having a really hard time with this. Any help is appreciated 🙏❤️

I had about 6 months between deciding to do surgery and getting scheduled. I came across the book The Pound of Cure by Dr. Matthew Weiner, a bariatric surgeon in Arizona, and started to implement some of the changes he recommended (and lost 13 lbs in the process without ever feeling deprived). The book is very simple, and the focus is on whole, plant based foods, but within reason. It's not an all or nothing approach, or going vegan or something, but focuses on improvement and aiming for getting it right 80-90% of the time. His suggestions are divided into 12 sections that you can tackle over time, perhaps one per month for a year if a person is just trying to improve nutrition and build good habits. They range from things like cutting out artificial sweetener or eating more beans to eating a pound of vegetables per day. I found it really effective pre-surgery and it's an eating style I will be working to get back to as I am further out from surgery and have more capacity. Small changes you can sustain will do the most for building good habits for life.

That sounds awesome. I'll have to check that out thanks!

I've hit a stall 9 months out. I'm not worried, though. My fitness levels continue to improve and I have nearly accomplished my pre-surgery goal of learning to scuba dive! One dive left to complete to get my PADI card 🐠
I was able to go for a 10K/6mile hike in the mountains two days ago just for the fun of it. In the before days, I might have attempted this, but it would have taken me 7 or 8 hours to complete and I would have been exhausted and in pain for the next two days. Taking my time with breaks for snacks and water, I was finished with my wee jaunt in only 4 hours 😎 and really got to enjoy photographing some insects, fungi, and turtles.
Just for fun last week, I ran two 5Ks in two days, something I would have never done in the past! Next goal is a 10K before the end of this month.

Hi everyone, I wrote back in May about having no strength. I still get totally exhausted just walking from room to room, it’s so bad I’m using a walker with wheels of all things. I had the gastric sleeve Jan. 24th. I’m doing exactly what the programs says, except protein shakes. I have different meats and protein bars daily, including vitamins daily. I do drink my fluids as well.  I go in for IV hydration 4 days a week and feel ok just til evening.  So far as of Jan 1st I’ve dropped 76 lbs. I just want to enjoy the weight lose. Any suggestions or has anyone else gone thru this??  Doctor says just increase calorie intake, still the same.

Losing my hair in clumps and still dealing with "stomach" issues from gallbladder removal surgery. On the positive side I'm doing better about meeting protein and water goals and taking my vitamins, so yay? 🤷‍♀️
