June 2007 Bandsters

Recommended Posts

Hey everyone!

I haven't been posting much cause i've been too busy eating bad sugry things! Ugh!!

BUT!!! I just found out that my best friend (the one who lives in Houston) just got approved for her Lap Band surgery! She is all set for Aug 29th! I'm soooo excited for her. She texted me yesterday and said she feel like she has to eat everything in site. Haha! I told her that MOST of us have went through that 'Last Supper' feeling, and that she'll be fine. I can still eat most things now that I could before, just less. THe only thing I LOVE to eat that I can't tolerate now is salads. I even asked my NP for a complete unfill last time I was there so I could go out and eat a HUGE salad, then I would come back for a fill. Lol.

Tonight starts my changing from Day shift at the Hospital to the evening shift. I will now be working 3:30pm - midnight. Then I'll be going to the gym when I get off work. Since it's so late I'm there by myself... which I LOVE!! Haha. SO hopefully I'll be more motivated to eat better too, and will start losing weight again!

Hope ya'll are doing well.

Hi all ~ it's been awhile since I've posted. I had to have a complete unfill to undergo a complete hystorecomy. It's been 4 weeks since my surgery and I'm finally going in for a fill. I can't wait! I've gained about 5 pounds back, but I'm hitting a Fluid diet until Thursday in hopes that I'll be back down to my low before going in for the fill. I'd hate to go in and get on the scale and be higher than my unfill date. Sigh! I'm disgusted with myself:(

Karla, you are doing fine! Don't be upset with yourself, 5 pound gain after 4 weeks is not horrible. Hope you are feeling well after your surgery.

I haven't posted in a while either. I still have my fluid, but no port. I have taken two MRSA tests now and waiting on the second results (I have to have three consecutive negative tests to be proven "clean") and the first was negative. I go back to surgeon in September and hope to get my port put back in by my birthday. Since he kept the fill in, I have lost 2 pounds or so this month. Not where I want to be, but it could be worse.

Good to see everyone is doing well.

Beckie - It's TIME to beat that MRSA and get a new port put in!

I think I might finally be back on track... I've eaten crap and gained about 25-30 pounds back... but I'm chagning the way I eat and going to the gym again.

GYM - So, I thought I would just go in and do what I used to do, not paying attention to the fact that I hadn't been regularly or done a regular routine in a long time. As a result my left knee is killing me... I was fine with the elliptical machine, but I think I pushed myself a bit too hard when I was doing leg weight lifting stuff. Ugh. So now I gotta baby it for a few days. I did manage to still do about 20 minutes elliptical last night before my knee reminded me that it was hurt, then I just did arm and ab stuff on weight machines. HOPEFULLY I'll start seeing a loss again soon... I'd like to be back into the jeans I was wearing a couple of months ago!

Amen, Suzzzie! I can't wait to get the all clear! It's taken so long, but I know it's gone now.

You can do it, Suz! Take it a little easier at the gym and ease yourself back in. Those jeans will fit again in no time.

Hi all - Hope everyone is having a good summer. I have been trying to read, but I haven't had much to say. I haven't gotten around to getting my pics, I think on my way home when I have my nice work clothes on I need to have someone take one, then I get home, get swamped by dogs, cat, and kids, so I just never seem to get to it.

I am still where I have been for months now between 187-195. I need a fill probably, but hate my fill surgeon and am worried about getting too tight again. I am not unhappy where I am though. I feel healthy and feel pretty good about how I look in clothes. I even started wearing heels again, I could never wear them before. People at work even noticed because I was a little taller. Recently several people have asked if I have lost more weight. I haven't, but I did buy smaller, nicer clothes and I probably carry myself differently.

I have gotten back in to the habit of fast food for Breakfast and lunch most days - but certainly in much smaller portions. We went out for lunch today - I ordered a smoked sausage sandwich with tater tots and we had fried pickles as an appetizer. I ate 2 pickles, half the sausage (no bread of course), and a couple of tater tots (that were the size of hush puppies). I was looking at my plate and thinking how different it was. Before I would have eaten the bread they had as an appetizer, would not have shared the pickles, the entire sandwich, all the tater tots and some off someone else's plates, and probably still been hungry!

Have a great weekend!

I had this this morning and it tasted so good, thought I'd share.

Berry-Banana smoothie

1 banana, cut into chunks

1/2 c. fat free milk

1/4 c. frozen blueberries

1/4 c. frozen strawberries

1 tsp. Peanut Butter

1/2 tsp. honey

Place all in blender and process until well combined and smooth.

Cal: 225; 7.5 g. protein; 46g. carb; 5 g. fiber; 3.5 g fat

I added a scoop of my GNC vanilla Protein Powder and it took it up to a 28.5 g Protein Shake. :tongue_smilie:

Beckit--that sounds really good!!!! I still make the peanut-butter choc shake that Steph told us about....not often, but it's my favorite.

Our little once vibrant thread is really dying...is it because we're all so busy, have gotten use to the band, or is it that we're not losing...thus not posting....I think i'm going to get a tiny fill next week. I can eat more than I am suppose to--I rationalize this by saying "My body needs food--If I don't eat, I'll be unhealthy"--

I know that there are some who eat a few bites and that's it. I probably could do that, but it seems so unhealthy. what do you think?

At any rate, LOVE TO YOU ALL!!! This is tax-free weekend in Texas. Happy shopping !!!!

I don't think it's healthy for those people who say they take a few bites and they are done. I have asked my doctor about it also and he says they have too much fill if that is the case. He says it will cause major problems in the long run for them. My doctors office has plastic food that they use to show how much your portion size should be. Maybe you should ask you doc. about that.

I have no clue where to upload this, so I'll put it here. This is pre-op vs the morning of my 6 month appointment! In office I weight 232, that's 88 lbs down since my highest weight, 75 lbs since my surgery weight! I can't believe this jacket fit... I am smaller now than the last time I was this size which the surgeon found really amusing. He's happy with where I am in my weight loss and estimates I'll be around 200 lbs by my 1 year anniversary! My lowest weight as an adult is 195, so that's pretty damn exciting to think I'll be near that at a year. Everything from there will be unknown territory!!

So proud of you Cat. Getting into those smaller size clothes is half the fun isn't it?. Keep up the good work!!!!

I changed my profile image to a molecule of protein. Why? Because I am certain that it saved my life.

That's brilliant! You've done amazing!! I should probably think about changing my profile picture at some point. Mine is the doll from Squid Games. Ironically the whole premise of the show is about dodging death. We've both done that...

Two years out. Lost 120 , regained 5 lbs. Recently has a bout of Norovirus, lost 7 pounds in two days. Now my stomach feels like it did right after my surgery. Sore, sensitive to even water.  Anyone out there have a similar experience?

Am I the only struggling to get weight down. I started with weight of 297 and now im 280 but seem to not lose more weight. My nutrtionist told me not to worry about the pounds because I might still be losing inches. However, I do not really see much of a difference is this happen to any of you, if so any tips?
      Thanks
