June 2007 Bandsters

Recommended Posts

Just wondering if anyone has had this problem.

I got a fill on Wed. Since than, I have had lots of pain in my upper stomach area. It is hard to explain, but it actually feels like the band is squeezing me way to tight. It is really uncomfortable when i sit. It doesn't hurt as much when I am standing.

Is it possible to actually feel the band if it is too tight?

I am able to eat without getting food stuck. I do get full really fast, but I am not complaining about that.

This has me kind of worried. I have not heard of anyone else having this type of pain.

I probably should have called the Dr. office today, but now I will have to wait until Monday.

If anyone has any information about this and if it is normal, please help me out. I am desperate.

Is the pain after you've eaten or before meals? I agree you should ask your doctor. Sometimes I can feel the band 'squeezing' me but only when I'm incredibly stressed (or when I watched Apocalypto the other night). It doesn't exactly hurt but I'm aware of it.

I also do better if I stand up after eating but that usually means I have eaten too much or have not chewed well enough. I know I'm not too tight because other people talk about what they can eat and it's less than I can. Also, I pretty much never PB.

Of course, the fill will probably 'relax' a little and you might have a little swelling but if you are concerned, ask your doctor (I know you don't want to have any fill out but if the band is too tight, it can cause problems).

I can often feel my band. Or at least I guess I feel the restriction. It shouldn't hurt, though.

Insub, we have the same problem with people giving us food. My husband's relatives continuously send us chocolate and Cookies and all sorts of junk. He's not banded, but he's been trying to lose 30 lbs so neither of us should eat it. He works for a large company so he usually takes the junk food in to work and leaves it in the kitchen for his coworkers to devour. That way we don't feel bad about throwing it away, be we aren't eating it either. No one knows that I'm banded, so I don't take it personally that they give us cakes and chocolate -- they just think they are being nice.

Hi, everyone,

Hope everyone had a wonderful holiday! I enjoyed a few days off work and loved every minute of it but back to work tomorrow.

I am having to get back on track with my eating as I indulged a bit for a few days. But I have been trying to exercise a little bit extra to make up for it.

I go for another fill next Monday and hope to feel a little more restriction. I just haven't really been the same since my de-fill the middle of November. My weight loss is still okay although it has been sheer will power for the most part!

Happy New Year!

I am back from my vacation with the family in Scranton, PA. Wow, what a good time and much temptation, however with restriction and difficulty eating regular food, it sucked a little bit. We decided to go out to a restaurant where my neice and nephew work, a new Italian/Pizza place. I ordered food I knew I could not eat, I guess I wanted to depress myself! I ordered this really good tasting( one bite of it and I was done in pain) square sicilian pizza and a garlic knot with marinara sauce. it all went home. Then the kids and my husband were eating french fries with gravy, another local thing. I am glad for the band, but sometimes when you just want to taste it, it is sad...

Speaking of food, I brought as much of the stuff I had to my sisters and when I was leaving she tried to have me take stuff back, NOPE. Her son is in college and lives in a frat house, the guys will take it all, not a problem!

I love the pictures, Ashly, Suzzie and others you look great. Maybe I can get my husband to help me with that today.

talk to you all later. Great to hear from you Dan, hang in there.

Joeyg, did you call the doctor?

Happy New Year everyone (almost in central time). I hope everyone has had a great holiday season! We have made it to Nashville and are just waiting on our stuff to be delivered. I don't know which is worse, packing or unpacking. I can't complain though, my husband and son have done most of the work. Here's to a great 2008, with much less worry about losing weight!

Thanks Stef.

Missy I am moving too, though not as far as you. I only have a one-bedroom place but it's still a freaking nightmare. Hope you get thought it OK. Note to self: Don't buy stuff.

BeckieT, I'm so happy your port revision went fine. Now the band can do its job better and the rest of us can breathe easier knowing that it's not tooo major. So glad you're 'fixed'.

Note for you guys: Don't try to eat dried apple rings. They will boogy in your osephegus all night havin' a NY party of their own.

Hey all!!! HAPPY NEW YEAR!

Most of you will make your goal weight this year - HOW EXCITING!!

BeckieT, glad your revision went well, hopefullyyou'll have NO MORE staph infections! Ick!

My New Years was great. Went over to a friends party - drank ONE apple-tini and was so freaking buzzed. I laughed at how crazy it was. And I had a few sips of Champagne at Midnight - which is< I think, the first carbonation I've had since surgery. No pain or excessive gas with it, but the bubble felt funny! Ha!

NOW that the 'Holidays' are all behind us... I'm going to start watching my calorie intake again and logging my foods in my bodybugg site. I've been at/hovered around 305-301 for 2 weeks. Its about dang time I get serious again and hit TWOterville!!

CHop chop!!

I'm usually one of the lurkers but I have to tell you, I enjoy reading all your posts. I recently had my third fill and could notice a big difference! I don't want to eat. It's almost like I had to remind myself to eat something. I have also had a couple episodes of eating too fast/too much and getting that pain in chest feeling which I relieved by, uh, releasing some of the excess food. Yuck-but it made me feel better. My husband has been a little concerned. I told him that I just need to learn how to or what to eat since this last fill.

Was there a certain fill for you all when you noticed a big difference?

Now, my ah-ha moment...last night we were at a New Year's Party. I had wore a short sleeve shirt thinking that it would be warm at my friends house however, I was cold. I was sitting on the couch and looked over to see my son's long sleeve shirt, size XL. I picked it up thinking at least it would cover my arms, however, it not only covered my arms but wrapped all the way around me and buttoned clear down!!!

AH-HA!!! Surprise-not only to me but to my family also. Now, there's a little voice in my head saying, well, maybe it was a really big XL maybe it was sized wrong but nonetheless, it was an XL.

Happy New Year!

Four days post surgery. I am sipping as fast as I can and getting NO WHERE near the goal of 60 - 80 grams of protein or the 64 oz of liquids. I just feel FULL. I don't know if it can still be the gas build up (I would think by now that would be gone) but it is a struggle to drink. And so far I have not had the nausea or spasms and don't want to wander into that territory by pushing too hard with liquids. I about passed out today as it was my most "strenuous" day. Went from second story to basement for shower and I was sure I was going to pass out. Looking back on my last few days I have had a total of less than 1000 calories. Am I just not getting enough nourishment in me? Once again a friday where I can't get ahold of the doc until Monday rolls back around so I am hoping maybe someone here has some experience on how to keep energy going. I do have fibromyalgia too and that may be where some added fatigue comes into play. How did you all fair with the goals the week after surgery?

2 days until I fly out to San Diego to have my Bypass Surg. in Tiajuana Mexico. Not gonna lie, the nerves are starting to surface. I don't fear the surgery itself, or the fact that I'm traveling alone, but its the aftermath that I'm stressing about the most, after this 8 week wait. I'm excited to finally be here, but I am really dreading the post surgical chapter. I know its going to be tough, real tough and I think I'm just in my head to much now that the day i here. Wish me luck, Hopefully I'm one of the lucky ones, and everything goes smoothly. Cant wait to give an exciting update,. If there is anyone else have a June bypass or even a recent one, Id love to have someone to compare war stories with. Also, anyone near San Antonio Tx? See ya soon with the future me. 💜

I'm in Houston so kind of near you and had the sleeve in Dec. Down 61 lbs. Feeling better. Was definitely worth it. I hope the everything is going well for you. Update us when you can!

I am back home after my bypass surgery in Tiajuana. I'm post op day 4. Everything went great! I guess I'm one of the lucky ones who have not encountered much pain at all, no nausea thus far and I'm having no problem keeping down broths and water. Thank you for your well wishes. I cant wait to keep up this journey and have a chance at better health and simply better quality of life. I know there will be bumps in the road ahead, and everything won't be peaches and cream, but at least I have a great start so far. 😍

I am new here today... and only two weeks out from my sleeve surgery on the 23rd. I am amazed I have kept my calories down to 467 today so far... that leaves me almost 750 left for dinner and maybe a snack. This is going to be tough for two weeks... but I have to believe I can do it!

Hey everyone. I'm new here so I thought I should introduce myself. I am 53y/o and am scheduled for Gastric Bypass on June 25th, 2025. I'm located in San Antonio, Texas. I will be having my surgery in Tiajuana Mexico. I've wanted this for years, but I always had insurance where bariatric procedures were excluded. Finally I am able to afford to pay out of pocket.  I can't wait to get started, and I hope I'm prepared for the initial period of "hell". I know what I have signed up for, but I'm sure the good to come will out way the temporary period of discomfort and feelings of regret. I'd love to find people to talk to who have been through the same procedure or experience before. So I look forward to meeting you all. Hope you have a great week!

I'm so happy for you! You are about to change your life. I was so glad to get the sleeve done in Dec. I didn't have feelings of regret overall. And I'm down almost 60 lbs. I do feel a little sad at restaurants. I can barely eat half a kid's meal. I get adults meals often because kid ones don't have the same offerings at times. Then I feel obligated to eat on that until it's gone and that can be days. So the restaurant thing isn't great for me. All the rest is fine by me! I love feeling full with very little. I do wish I could drink when eating. And will sip at the end. Just a strong habit to stop. But I'm working on it! You will do fine! Just keep focused on your desire to be different. Not better or worse. But different. I am happy both ways but my low back doesn't like me that heavy. So I listened (also my feet!). LOL! Update us on your journey! I'm not far from you. I'm in Houston. Good luck and I hope it all goes smoothly! Would love to see pics of the town you go to for this. I've never been there. Neat you will be traveling for this! Enjoy the journey. Take it one day at a time. Sometimes a few hours at a time. Follow all recommendations as best you can. 💗

Thank you so much for your well wishes. I am hoping that everything goes easy for me as well. We don't eat out much as it is, so it wont be too bad in that department. Thankfully. Also, I hear you regarding your back and feet!! I'd like to add knees to the list. Killing me as we speak! I'm only 5' so the weight has to go. Too short to carry all this weight. Menopause really did a doosey on me. (😶lol) My daughter also lives in Houston. with her Husband and my 5 grand-littles. I grew up in Beaumont, so I know Houston well, I will be sure to keep in touch and update you on my journey. I may need some advice in the future, or just motivation. Thank You so much for reaching out, I was hoping to connect with someone in the community. I really appreciate it. 💜
