@ there's a special spot in my heart for Kelpies and Rottweilers. I melt when I see them, they're adorable. When I finally move out of this tiny apartment and get a backyard I'll definitely be getting a new hairy family member. I miss having a warm ball of love to cuddle when you're feeling down! I'll be adopting from a shelter that's for sure.

I had a rotty growing up and then adopted a kelpie x Rottweiler when I was 16.. She was the perfect mix. She was full of energy so we'd run around at the park everyday and then she was lazy at night and would put her head on my pillow and actually put her arm over me hahaha. I miss her a lot. She was hit by a car in 2010 and my whole world fell apart. I still think of her everyday, she's in my display pic too!

What about you? Anyone else got a favourite breed?

@@nerms Totally gorgeous. I think Kelpies are great dogs. My sister has a border collie and she used to have a rottweiler x malamute... He was regal I was sure of it. When I settle into my home... wherever that is... I've decided on a Cocker Spaniel x poodle. I'm more of a cat person dog lover so little and lapworthy for me.

Ooooo one of my favorite topics FURBABIES!!!!

@@nerms I hope you find that perfect job......don't give up you will find the job thats just for you.

Hows the grooming course going??

One of my bf's is a fantastic groomer and she does all of my babies. She can't keep up with all the work and has to turn new clients away now.

So sorry to hear about your loss.....what an absolutely gorgeous baby she was....I am sure she is still around you all the time :)

@....my son was to get a rescue Malamute when he moves out of home.....he just loves them :)

I love Cockerspaniel cross Poodle they are gorgeous but they can be fairly active......Have you ever considered a Cavoodle??

They are such a great lap dog and love to go with you or just sit on the couch with you, and if you get one from a good breeder that breeds with a Toy Poodle you should get a small lap dog.

I may be biased.... but I love em :P

To me they are the perfect lapdog and family pet ;)

I don't know of any breeders though?? I always get asked as I had a few litters years ago but I don't know any that I would know to recommend.....all I can say is stay away from pet shops because you may be supporting puppy farmers or could get a pup with loads of health problems :(

I used to breed Cavalier King Charles Spaniels and then Cavoodles (Cavalier cross toy poodle) (only as a hobby and just had a couple of litters)

They are 2 of my favorite breeds....but I also have a rescue Golden Retriever and they are just amazing.

When Hubby and I bought our first house our first baby was the furry kind.....Golden retriever.

He was amazing but sadly left us at age 11 from a nose tumour :(

We now own 1 Golden Retriever (we are unsure of her age but rescued her from a horrible registered breeder that was going to put her to sleep because she could no longer breed with her or show her  grrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrr )

We also own a teeny tiny red toy poodle and a Cavoodle.

So we have 3 in total :D

We lost our Ruby Cavalier only 6 weeks ago to old age.....she was my little sweetheart.

All our furbabies are part of our family....we love them sooooo much.

Oh and my daughter has Ferrets......ok strange i know and they do stink until they are desexed but boy are they cute and so gentle.......she hand raised them and they are too cute :D

Yeah the course is good, it's giving me something to look forward to each week and is making the time go past faster which is a plus!

I have a class 3 days after surgery, if I don't feel up to it the teacher said I can do a day with the other class to make up for it so all good for me :)

It sure does take it out of you and you are back after only a couple of weeks so you are going well.

Friend of mine recently decided to go and get the sleeve done and she is getting done today!!!!

She knows of a couple of people that have it and just decided a few months ago that was it she was getting it done.

No mucking around hey.....took me years to decide just to have the band LOL

I am all nervous and excited for her at the same time....it brings it all back to you when someone else is getting done :)

Glad you had a good day @Chez. Do you have a lot of support at work?

I'm going great. 5 days in and only 24 days til surgery. no cravings, no hunger to speak of and it's been a really great routine to get into so far. I'm sure I'll be challenged towards the end but I'm very focused and motivated so I'm know I'll do fine.

I weigh myself on Saturdays and last weeks weight was 160.2 so we'll see how I go this Sat.

Have a great week all.. I have an exam tomorrow.

:) Cath

Hey Leanne. How are you? Sorry I've been a bit AWOL. Work this week has been tiring, I had Thursday off. I've also hit the dreaded 3 week stall so hope it shifts soon.

Since pre op I've lost 16kgs so that's pretty good. Over this crappy weather. I really wanna go for some walks!! Hopefully tomorrow. I was excited though, I'm fitting into size 24. Considering I was struggling with size 26 I'm happy with that.

How are you all going??

Hey Chez.....glad you coped ok with work this last week.

16kg's in 5 weeks is AMAZING!!!!!!!! WOW

That averages out to just over 3kg per week if I worked that out right lol

I am not losing a lot on the scales just bouncing around down a kilo then not but I can feel it in my clothes so I am not so focused on the scales at the moment....although its so hard when people keep asking how much have you lost all the time.

Mostly only my family know but there is one person in particular that continually asks me like every time I talk to her and it is doing my head in......Maybe I am just not going to tell her anymore maybe I am just gonna tell her I am not hopping on the scales anymore.

Because it makes me think about how I haven't lost much in that past week or whatever and it starts to play with my mind.

Anyway my friend that went in for her sleeve is good she came home today so was in 5 days.

She didn't have a drain tube in her stomach.....who else told me that they didn't have one....was it you Chez or was it Bee??

She had the same surgeon as Bee so it will be interesting to see.

She had bad pains in her stomach on day 2 so they made her drink stuff and gave her a ct scan and all was fine.

I am sure I will hear more about it when she had recovered a bit and it will make more sense with what she is telling me when she is off the pethadene

Hows everyone this weekend :)

I am new here today... and only two weeks out from my sleeve surgery on the 23rd. I am amazed I have kept my calories down to 467 today so far... that leaves me almost 750 left for dinner and maybe a snack. This is going to be tough for two weeks... but I have to believe I can do it!

Hey everyone. I'm new here so I thought I should introduce myself. I am 53y/o and am scheduled for Gastric Bypass on June 25th, 2025. I'm located in San Antonio, Texas. I will be having my surgery in Tiajuana Mexico. I've wanted this for years, but I always had insurance where bariatric procedures were excluded. Finally I am able to afford to pay out of pocket.  I can't wait to get started, and I hope I'm prepared for the initial period of "hell". I know what I have signed up for, but I'm sure the good to come will out way the temporary period of discomfort and feelings of regret. I'd love to find people to talk to who have been through the same procedure or experience before. So I look forward to meeting you all. Hope you have a great week!

I'm so happy for you! You are about to change your life. I was so glad to get the sleeve done in Dec. I didn't have feelings of regret overall. And I'm down almost 60 lbs. I do feel a little sad at restaurants. I can barely eat half a kid's meal. I get adults meals often because kid ones don't have the same offerings at times. Then I feel obligated to eat on that until it's gone and that can be days. So the restaurant thing isn't great for me. All the rest is fine by me! I love feeling full with very little. I do wish I could drink when eating. And will sip at the end. Just a strong habit to stop. But I'm working on it! You will do fine! Just keep focused on your desire to be different. Not better or worse. But different. I am happy both ways but my low back doesn't like me that heavy. So I listened (also my feet!). LOL! Update us on your journey! I'm not far from you. I'm in Houston. Good luck and I hope it all goes smoothly! Would love to see pics of the town you go to for this. I've never been there. Neat you will be traveling for this! Enjoy the journey. Take it one day at a time. Sometimes a few hours at a time. Follow all recommendations as best you can. 💗

Thank you so much for your well wishes. I am hoping that everything goes easy for me as well. We don't eat out much as it is, so it wont be too bad in that department. Thankfully. Also, I hear you regarding your back and feet!! I'd like to add knees to the list. Killing me as we speak! I'm only 5' so the weight has to go. Too short to carry all this weight. Menopause really did a doosey on me. (😶lol) My daughter also lives in Houston. with her Husband and my 5 grand-littles. I grew up in Beaumont, so I know Houston well, I will be sure to keep in touch and update you on my journey. I may need some advice in the future, or just motivation. Thank You so much for reaching out, I was hoping to connect with someone in the community. I really appreciate it. 💜

On day 4 of the 2 week liquid pre-op diet. Surgery scheduled for June 11th.
Soooo I am coming to a realization
of something and I'm not sure what to do about it. For years the only thing I've enjoyed is eating. We rarely do anything or go anywhere and if we do it always includes food. Family comes over? Big family dinner! Go camping? Food! Take a short ride or trip? Food! Holiday? Food! Go out of town for a Dr appointment? Food! When we go to a new town we don't look for any attractions, we look for restaurants we haven't been to. Heck, I look forward to getting off work because that means it's almost supper time. Now that I'm drinking these pre-op shakes for breakfast, lunch, and supper I have nothing to look forward to.  And once I have surgery on June 11th it'll be more of the same shakes. Even after pureed stage, soft food stage, and finally regular food stage, it's going to be a drastic change for the rest of my life. I'm giving up the one thing that really brings me joy. Eating. How do you cope with that? What do you do to fill that void? Wow. Now I'm sad.

I hope your surgery on Wednesday goes well. You will be able to do all sorts of new things as you find your new normal after surgery. I don't know this from experience yet, but I am seeing a lot of positive things from people who have had it done. Best of luck!

Life as a big person had limited my life to what I knew I could manage to do each day. That was eat. I hadn't anything else to look forward to. So my eating choices were the best I could dream up. I planned the cooking in managable lots in my head and filled my day with and around it.

Now I have a whole new big, bigger, biggest, best days ever. I am out there with those skinny people doing stuff i could never have dreamt of. Food is now an after thought. It doesn't consume my day. I still enjoy the good home cooked food but I eat smaller portions. I leave food on my plate when I am full. I can no longer hear my mother's voice saying eat it all up, ther are starving children in Africa who would want that!

I still cook for family feasts, I love cooking. I still do holidays but I have changed from the All inclusive drinking and eating everything everyday kind to Self catering accommodation. This gives me the choice of cooking or eating out as I choose. I rarely drink anymore as I usually travel alone now and I feel I need to keep aware of my surroundings.

I don't know at what point my life expanded, was it when I lost 100 pounds? Was it when I left my walking stick at home ? Was it when I said yes to an outing instead of finding an excuse to stay home ? i look back at my last five years and wonder how loosing weight has made such a difference. Be ready to amaze yourself.

BTW, the liquid diet sucks, one more day and you are over the worst. You can do it.
