Okay so I just ate 1/3 c. Soupy cream of wheat. I waited like 20 min and drank a few oz of Water. I don't feel anything going on. No fullness feeling, nothing. It seems like everyone on here feels full. Why don't i?

I'm 5 days post op. I think my biggest question is how much should I eat of a full liquid? 1/4 c. -1/2c.? I don't want to overheat w/ o realizing it.

You won't feel full so soon after surgery, your nerves are still healing. Plus liquids go right through. Ask your surgeon about exact amounts -- I was limited to 3 tablespoons.

yep, i was going to say the same as bufflehead...are you waiting a half hour to drink after your "food", you really need to get in that habit soon... I still struggle with it... and I'm at a plateau, so I figured that's not helping... we shall see what Monday brings since I only weigh myself once a week.

Good luck...take it easy!

Okay I'll give a call. When you do your 3 tbsp. of say, Soup. Do you just measure it out?

Oh and seriously, the cream of wheat had no substance to it whatsoever, lol. So having read what you said I'm sure it just slid through.

@@mommyjamie yes, measure whatever amount you are given as okay to eat. If they won't give you an amount, I would probably stick with a quarter cup max to be safe.

I wasn't allowed things like cream of wheat on purees (still am not allowed even 10 mos. out) but when I was on purees it was 3 tablespoons max. Full liquids was just basically sipping constantly because my full liquids was true liquids, not stuff like yogurt, Jello, or anything else you would eat with a spoon.

I am day 5 and I don't feel full; I just feel pressure on my breastbone and that's how I know to stop eating. I don't feel hungry either.

I'm eating very runny oatmeal with strawberry unjury Protein powder mixed in; runny potato Soup with chicken Unjury Protein Powder mixed in; and Protein shakes made with Greek yogurt; skim milk; Protein Powder and fruit blended.

My surgeon says if it fits through a straw I can eat it.

I am able to "eat" up to 2 oz before I have to stop due to the tightness. Sometimes I wait an hour and then try to eat another couple of ounces. Otherwise I just drink Gatorade low calorie mixed with Water.

The Gatorade and Water mix seems to be going down really well.

How is the potato and chicken Soup? I have a whole container that I haven't opened yet. I'm kinda afraid.

So I guess I am going to have to do Breakfast, lunch, dinner and drink in between.

Do you guys use mashed potatoes from a box?

I stay away from carbs as much as possible.... :P so no potatoes...I substitute cauliflower (my husband and I both love mashed cauliflower), or turnips, depending on the recipe.

When you eat your Protein and some veggies...there won't be room for much else... don't waste your pouch on carbs ;)

On day 4 of the 2 week liquid pre-op diet. Surgery scheduled for June 11th.
Soooo I am coming to a realization
of something and I'm not sure what to do about it. For years the only thing I've enjoyed is eating. We rarely do anything or go anywhere and if we do it always includes food. Family comes over? Big family dinner! Go camping? Food! Take a short ride or trip? Food! Holiday? Food! Go out of town for a Dr appointment? Food! When we go to a new town we don't look for any attractions, we look for restaurants we haven't been to. Heck, I look forward to getting off work because that means it's almost supper time. Now that I'm drinking these pre-op shakes for breakfast, lunch, and supper I have nothing to look forward to.  And once I have surgery on June 11th it'll be more of the same shakes. Even after pureed stage, soft food stage, and finally regular food stage, it's going to be a drastic change for the rest of my life. I'm giving up the one thing that really brings me joy. Eating. How do you cope with that? What do you do to fill that void? Wow. Now I'm sad.

Three months and four days ago... I was in Costa Rica having a life changing surgery! Yesterday we had a followup visit with Dr. Esmeral via video chat and this morning my middle number changed.  I'm down 47lbs and two pants sizes. I can wear a Large tshirt for the first time in like... 14 years! Woot!! Everything is going great. I have zero regrets. I went down to the riverwalk with a friend and walked 2 miles on Monday without even getting fatigued. And no more snoring or chugging pickle juice for crazy leg cramps! I need to go to the gym more... I'm making new shirts next week so that will motivate me. LOL But I'm also just not as TIRED all the time! I have a LONG way to go...but seeing the progress on the scales and in the mirror is a huge motivator!! Thank you all for cheering me on and supporting me!!
