Bouncing Belly

Recommended Posts

Okay, this is embarrassing, but maybe somebody has a suggestion for me, so here goes. I started Aqua Zumba this year and love it. I was on hiatus from the pool for four weeks per doctor's orders after my banding. I went back last week and everything was fine, except I noticed how much my stomach fat bounces in the Water when I jump. Because it's so soon after surgery, I got worried that the tugging up and down with every big movement was going to harm my band or port sites internally. I'm not sure what to do about it. It didn't hurt when I was done, but I sure could feel those muscles inside. My question for banders is, can I bounce like that without worrying? If you do water aerobics or jogging, did you have to wait longer than a month after surgery? I feel like I need a girdle under my bathing suit...

You should be doing no harm to your band as it's wrapped around your stomach and the port should be stitched to your muscles on your abs? Jiggle till your hearts content :P

My tummy is very saggy these days but when I do Water aerobics, I don't have an issue because my suits are tight and they act just like a girdle. Maybe you should investigate a smaller sized bathing suit that will keep you tighter. That may be all you need to 'fix' the problem.

Just 4 weeks banded, I'd suggest to confirm with your doc. I think you should be fine but you pain them valuable money for questions like that.

My guess, and I'm not a doctor, is that you'll be fine. Maybe get a tighter swimsuit and/or compression Water shirt thingy.

I noticed this the last time I did aqua gym. I think a tighter swimsuit would resolve this. Maybe a tighter tankini type suit, as that would be easier to get in and out of when out of the Water, since it's two piece. Pulling on a tight, dry one-piece is already an aerobic workout by itself for me.

i have this issue (major) and its a hard thing to deal with.....i do step aerobics and

i hear the bopping of my stomach going up and down....so i do wear something tight around the middle to assist with this issue....i am not sure of the Water part but the other poster, go walking who i know does water aerobics, answered you well...and parrishel said what i was thinking, get something tighter and see if it helps ♥

Ah, my second favorite activity right after root canal - bathing suit shopping! Good idea. I was hoping to hold off on that until summer, but....

Shopping for a new suit is a horror show all by itself for me, but I did purchase a wonderful suit at alwaysforme.com. kind of pricey but very well made and it definitely held in my middle section. Also they offer helpful hints on what size to purchase.

I tried some suits on Thursday after the class this week. Nothing fit. So depressing after losing 40 pounds. Well, it was only one store. I'll keep looking.

I've hit a stall 9 months out. I'm not worried, though. My fitness levels continue to improve and I have nearly accomplished my pre-surgery goal of learning to scuba dive! One dive left to complete to get my PADI card 🐠
I was able to go for a 10K/6mile hike in the mountains two days ago just for the fun of it. In the before days, I might have attempted this, but it would have taken me 7 or 8 hours to complete and I would have been exhausted and in pain for the next two days. Taking my time with breaks for snacks and water, I was finished with my wee jaunt in only 4 hours 😎 and really got to enjoy photographing some insects, fungi, and turtles.
Just for fun last week, I ran two 5Ks in two days, something I would have never done in the past! Next goal is a 10K before the end of this month.

Hi everyone, I wrote back in May about having no strength. I still get totally exhausted just walking from room to room, it’s so bad I’m using a walker with wheels of all things. I had the gastric sleeve Jan. 24th. I’m doing exactly what the programs says, except protein shakes. I have different meats and protein bars daily, including vitamins daily. I do drink my fluids as well.  I go in for IV hydration 4 days a week and feel ok just til evening.  So far as of Jan 1st I’ve dropped 76 lbs. I just want to enjoy the weight lose. Any suggestions or has anyone else gone thru this??  Doctor says just increase calorie intake, still the same.

Losing my hair in clumps and still dealing with "stomach" issues from gallbladder removal surgery. On the positive side I'm doing better about meeting protein and water goals and taking my vitamins, so yay? 🤷‍♀️
