My batwings... (I want these babies to go away)

Recommended Posts

So I am four weeks part op. I am discovering my batwings and I am not thrilled.

I am embracing my 10000 steps, and also the elliptical. I am however NOT embracing the batwings. Um no.

Any tips for how to do the right things to get rid of these bad boys while I still can?

I am guessing TONS AND TONS of hard work, and great genetics, and super elastic skin, and etc. etc. etc.

P.S. I call mine whale-wings. (they are that bad.)

Lol. I am definitely headed in the whale-wings direction...

So what does tons and tons of hard work mean? I'm not scared of hard work. I take Biotin and drink add much Water as I possibly can. But no luck on the genes. :(

Unfortunately, bat/whale wings do not contain any muscle so you can lift weights until you are purple and it will have no effect on that area of the arms UNLESS you are young enough to have very elastic skin and it has not been stretched out past the point of no return. If you DO have very elastic skin, losing the fat in those areas while exercising will help reduce the flabiness. Otherwise - surgery after weight loss is about the only way to get rid of these flapping wings. Exercise will help develop the muscle in your upper arms and if you are young enough to still have elastic skin and as I said earlier have not stretched it past the point of no return, then you will see improvement as you drop the weight and get rid of the fat in the upper arms and tone the muscle with exercise, but if that skin has been stretched past that point of no return - then surgery is the only way to get rid of that excess flab. I know - I am waving all the time.

Until I have the money for the surgery, I wear 3/4 sleeved shirts that are tight around my upper arm. That seems to work to minimize the flapping. The problem is I don't like to wear them all the time and occasionally forget that I will be out in public. That is when I get the worst stares and hide my arms as much as I can. I thought being fat made me self conscience, these flappy things are the worst embarrassment yet.

I am dealing with my bat wings...at least the rest of me is trimming down, so I'll take it... I can't see being able to afford plastics in my future, so longer sleeves it is... I can adjust, because, over all, I feel great! :)

I've hit a stall 9 months out. I'm not worried, though. My fitness levels continue to improve and I have nearly accomplished my pre-surgery goal of learning to scuba dive! One dive left to complete to get my PADI card 🐠
I was able to go for a 10K/6mile hike in the mountains two days ago just for the fun of it. In the before days, I might have attempted this, but it would have taken me 7 or 8 hours to complete and I would have been exhausted and in pain for the next two days. Taking my time with breaks for snacks and water, I was finished with my wee jaunt in only 4 hours 😎 and really got to enjoy photographing some insects, fungi, and turtles.
Just for fun last week, I ran two 5Ks in two days, something I would have never done in the past! Next goal is a 10K before the end of this month.

Hi everyone, I wrote back in May about having no strength. I still get totally exhausted just walking from room to room, it’s so bad I’m using a walker with wheels of all things. I had the gastric sleeve Jan. 24th. I’m doing exactly what the programs says, except protein shakes. I have different meats and protein bars daily, including vitamins daily. I do drink my fluids as well.  I go in for IV hydration 4 days a week and feel ok just til evening.  So far as of Jan 1st I’ve dropped 76 lbs. I just want to enjoy the weight lose. Any suggestions or has anyone else gone thru this??  Doctor says just increase calorie intake, still the same.

Losing my hair in clumps and still dealing with "stomach" issues from gallbladder removal surgery. On the positive side I'm doing better about meeting protein and water goals and taking my vitamins, so yay? 🤷‍♀️
