Stall is depressing me :-(

Recommended Posts

I can assure you this is NOT a stall. A stall is no lbs or inches lost in over 30 days. You are no where near that.

Are you measuring? My guess is no. You need to take your measurements as this is what is happening right now.

Good luck

One week ago I slipped and fell. I hit my head hard and my ribs and scapula are hurt too.

The scale jumped up 6 pounds 2 days after. The scale has been down 4 pounds and back up 2 pounds. I'm eating the same. Is this weight gain from swelling?

I feel the same way. I am 1 day from being two months out and for the last two weeks (since I have started exercising) i seemed to put the breaks on the weightloss. I completely feel your frustration. I just trying to remind myself (unsuccessfully at points, that it will start up again).

Folks, stalls are normal, especially in the first month, but they happen any time. Just keep to your plan and you'll get through it. Stop weighing yourself daily and go to weekly or bi-weekly. Daily weighing will make you crazy and is unnecessary at this point. I never weigh daily, I weigh weekly. My weight can shift +/- 2 lbs. on a daily basis.

I could have written this post too! I was 4 weeks yesterday. Stalled for 2 weeks. But I've lost 46 total (28 pre and 18 post) and overall I'm glad for this. My diuretic/bp meds have been held since surgery and my leg lymph edema is getting worse. I had my one month today and got cleared to restart it. My legs are so swollen without it. The NP and NUT think this might be the reason for my stall. I know I'm doing stuff right. But to not see results - it screws with your brain. Still, let's stay the course and we'll get there - or at least get somewhere!!!!!

I had surgery on 31 March, dropped 5.3kg in first week, and nothing this week, keep jumping on the scales every morning to see if there is any change.....nothing! Eating and drinking everything my doctor has advised, and walking every day. Must get a tape measure today and see if there is any change that way. So frustrating, and demoralising.

How long can a stall last? I've been bouncing up and down at 270 since Nov.

Your responses have been so uplifting. Thank you all!! I am going to measure myself today. I felt so down yesterday that I left work early. My energy levels are so low I went home and took a nap. I am going to go out today and get some exercise. It is hard for me to eat more than about 600 calories. I am on the puréed stage and while i am doing well it is still difficult eating more than I am currently. Don't know how I will increase my calorie count. When I try to eat more I get horrible frothing.

Hang in there everyone who is stalling, it is normal. Our bodies need to adjust to the new tummy and digesting the food we put in it. Also at the 3-4 wk phase it is known as the time that people can stall. Be encouraged it will pass, I know it is not easy.

At 3-4 weeks I added food and exercise so my body really had to adjust. I had a long stall, no fun mean while hubby was getting encouraged from my surgery to lose weight too so every day he would announce he lost X lbs and he was lighter then me.. i almost killed him.

I stalled for 7 wks... yep it is true now ya wanna talk about being depressed.

So I started increasing my Water, really watching what i put in my mouth Protein.. watched the sugar intake too. Carbs are sneaky lil ~~~~~~~ fill in the blanks. I listened to the vets who said measure your self, take photos front, side and back and keep on moving. It worked.. My energy levels increased and then the weight came off. Best of all my new tummy and I are best of buds. It works, have faith.

FYI I weigh less then hubby now and i get to announce the scale moving!!

So be encouraged, dont give up.. be your own best Cheerleader!!

I am almost 4 weeks post op and hit a weight loss wall 2 weeks ago. I know it's just a stall but man it sure is depressing. Everyday I hope and pray the scale starts moving but instead it rocks up and down 1-2 pounds. My energy levels have hit an all time low and I feel sad. Please tell me I didn't go through all this for nothing.

I am in the same boat. I hit three weeks post opp and started a stall and have been on it for two weeks. Hope to break through it soon :)

10 days post op. I haven't weighed but don't feel like I have lost anything. :( My belly actually looks bigger to me. I see the doc on Tuesday.

Probably still lots of swelling. Mine was the same way.

I have no clue where to upload this, so I'll put it here. This is pre-op vs the morning of my 6 month appointment! In office I weight 232, that's 88 lbs down since my highest weight, 75 lbs since my surgery weight! I can't believe this jacket fit... I am smaller now than the last time I was this size which the surgeon found really amusing. He's happy with where I am in my weight loss and estimates I'll be around 200 lbs by my 1 year anniversary! My lowest weight as an adult is 195, so that's pretty damn exciting to think I'll be near that at a year. Everything from there will be unknown territory!!

I changed my profile image to a molecule of protein. Why? Because I am certain that it saved my life.

That's brilliant! You've done amazing!! I should probably think about changing my profile picture at some point. Mine is the doll from Squid Games. Ironically the whole premise of the show is about dodging death. We've both done that...

Two years out. Lost 120 , regained 5 lbs. Recently has a bout of Norovirus, lost 7 pounds in two days. Now my stomach feels like it did right after my surgery. Sore, sensitive to even water.  Anyone out there have a similar experience?

      April Surgery
Am I the only struggling to get weight down. I started with weight of 297 and now im 280 but seem to not lose more weight. My nutrtionist told me not to worry about the pounds because I might still be losing inches. However, I do not really see much of a difference is this happen to any of you, if so any tips?
      Thanks
