Surgery 5 Days Away Pre-Op Diet Success?

Good morning from Boston. My surgery is set for this Monday - April 14th @ 8:45 am at Beth Israel Deaconess Medical Center in Boston. I've been on the pre-op diet (4 replacement meal shakes every day plus ONE regular meal) total calorie count is 1,200 - 1,400 for the day.

To date I've lost almost 10 pounds on the pre-op diet - I assume that in the normal range? I know the real goal of the pre-op is to shrink the liver so I'm hoping that what's happening!

Thoughts?

Marlin Collingwood,

You are doing great!!!!!

I lost 10.5 pounds pre-op and my surgeon was so happy with that! I started mine early so I could lose as much as possible.

When I saw him for my final pre-op he said: "You're going to do really good."

When you have your sugery, walk, sip when you're allowed, rest, walk, sip, rest, walk.

For me it was: pee, walk, pee, rest, pee, walk, pee, rest, pee, walk, rest........

I walked as much as I possibly could and my surgeon had 2 IVs going the day of surgery. I was full of Fluid and thus had to pee every couple of hours.

Sending thoughts and prayers you have a routine surgery and easy recovery.

Kathleen
