So I am 6 weeks post op. Tonight is the first time I feel like I want to puke. (Since the first 2 days after surgery that is) I think I ate a few more bites than I should have. It has been more than 2 hours since I ate and I still feel crappy. I almost want to make myself vomit so I feel better. How long is this feeling going to last? I am also worried that I won't be able to get in all my fluids tonight. Still have 32 ounces to drink.

I did the same thing like 3 weeks after surgery, I walked around for like a half an hour, and everything worked itself out. I hope you feel better.

I've done it to, 2 or 3 times. Definitely not a good feeling. It will pass eventually.

I'm 9 mths out and I still overeat occasionally. Wish it were that easy to vomit as it used to be when I was lapbanded. It's a drawn out, painful process that doesn't give much results so I don't really advise it.

My problem is that I eat way too fast, making it take longer for my tummy to register itself as full, making me eat too much. Don't get me wrong. By "too much" I mean 12 bites instead of 10, or 3 oz instead of 2. Still not much but enuf to cause pain.

Ur only 6 weeks out. Still a baby. still learning what ur sleeve tolerates and what it doesn't. How much it can take - and how much it can't. It may take a while. We all wouldn't be here if we didn't have food issues in the first place. Army basic training taught me to eat way too fast. If u didn't eat in 5 mins, u didn't eat. Never relearned eating slowly till being sleeved (after 3 1/2 yrs of eating fast with my band and frequent vomiting).

Ull be fine. I wouldn't push even the liquids tonite, as long as ur feeling nauseous. It may just make it inevitable to actually throw up. And while I don't think u can damage a 6 week old sleeve by vomiting (not like the lapband), it's not advisable to vomit.

Good luck to u.

Two months out from hiatal hernia repair.  Surgeon said to expect a lot more flatulence...something about the 'air' no longer being able to 'burp' out so comes out the other end.  That is my experience but have no understanding of why that swallowed air cannot be 'burped'. ???

As I understand it since your stomach is smaller and not completely resting against your diaphragm anymore you no longer have the ability to "push" burps out as well. Plus, since its smaller and we don't digest slower the trapped air moves a lot quicker out of the stomach so its no longer available to burp out. Hence the other option for removal.

Me too girl!! Are you in the full liquid diet right now? It’s sooooo hard!

      2. LadyVeteran1

Not yet. I was told I only have to do 24 hours of a liquid diet. But I have my pre-op tomorrow so I’m going to confirm if I need to do longer.

Down 33 lbs and slightly stalled, but I'm gonna reevaluate and push through. I started back to work last week after 2 years of being disabled due to mental health as well as my weight. It's a great job and I'm just so happy to have this opportunity at a second chance at life. Hope everyone is having their best journey ❤️ Together, we got this!
