Hi!

I got a fill of .2 ccs 2 weeks ago and had little restriction then. But now I find myself with no restriction :( and gaining weight. I'm wondering if anyone else had this issue and what helped? I'm going in for my 2nd fill on 4/17

Any advice is greatly appreciated

Perfectly normal...at least for me....it takes time to find consistent restriction...you'll get there.

I agree, unfortunately, very normal.

The initial fill can cause a little swelling in the stoma area but once the swelling goes down you're left with a stoma that is still large and food passes through easily.

We call this "Bandster Hell". It can take up to 6 fills before you feel restriction/satiety. My journey really didn't take off till my 3rd fill. That's when I started to feel those satiety signals like hiccups, burping, runny nose.

This phase seems to have been left out of the sales pitch during the Surgeon's seminars, orientations and nutrition classes. I thought once I was banded, I'd start losing 10 lbs a month immediately? HA! :(

I got over it and obviously I'm not bitter

It took me six or seven fills to find my SWEET SPOT. After both the fourth and fifth fill, I thought I had found it, since I felt pretty good restriction. Unfortunately, both of those fills only gave me good restriction for two weeks, then all of a sudden, that feeling went away. I almost expected to experience this with my last fill.... But, I'm going on a month and still feel the restriction...... Thus, THE SWEET SPOT. I'm going back for my monthly visit this coming Tuesday. I don't even want a tweek. I think I'm good to go. So to answer your question, I think it's normal to lose that restrictive feeling a few days or even weeks after a fill.

I am with you. Feeling no constriction but have only had 1 fill. Next is this coming Thursday. Bad thing is I have major knee surgery the following Tuesday and will not be mobile for 6/8 weeks. Praying this next fill keeps me from gaining while I'm down.

Two months out from hiatal hernia repair.  Surgeon said to expect a lot more flatulence...something about the 'air' no longer being able to 'burp' out so comes out the other end.  That is my experience but have no understanding of why that swallowed air cannot be 'burped'. ???

As I understand it since your stomach is smaller and not completely resting against your diaphragm anymore you no longer have the ability to "push" burps out as well. Plus, since its smaller and we don't digest slower the trapped air moves a lot quicker out of the stomach so its no longer available to burp out. Hence the other option for removal.

Anyone had the TORe procedure? How did it go? How much weight did you loose?

Me too girl!! Are you in the full liquid diet right now? It’s sooooo hard!

      2. LadyVeteran1

Not yet. I was told I only have to do 24 hours of a liquid diet. But I have my pre-op tomorrow so I’m going to confirm if I need to do longer.

Down 33 lbs and slightly stalled, but I'm gonna reevaluate and push through. I started back to work last week after 2 years of being disabled due to mental health as well as my weight. It's a great job and I'm just so happy to have this opportunity at a second chance at life. Hope everyone is having their best journey ❤️ Together, we got this!
