My EVERYTHING itches!

I am 4 weeks and 5 days post op. I had the normal incision itchiness that went away about 2 weeks post op. But I also am itching almost everywhere else. The tops and bottoms of my feet, my legs, arms, and even "other" areas. My skin just itches sooo bad that I have actually scratched myself bloody in places. :( Has anyone else experienced this? I'm wondering if it has to do with any of the Vitamins, B-12 or Protein? I never had this problem pre-op so it has to be either something new I am taking or my body reacting to the surgery? Help!?

Use dove soap

I had a yeast infection in the folds of my skin - it cleared up with jock-itch powder (recommended by the surgeon). My skin was bright red and rough.

It could be a reaction to a med or even dry skin from dehydration. I was super dry and itchy for a couple of months.

I had the same thing!

I was told it was most likely the anesthesia working out of my body, the nurse told me it can take from 60 -90 days to completely leave your body. Advised to drink as much water as possible, shower with warm not hot water, Dove or Aveno soap and quickly follow up with Aveno moisture lotion. It does go away eventually. Best wishes!

check with your doctor...it's not that unusual...I used gold bond to help and Biotin and other Vitamins that help skin etc...

good luck... it may be a reaction to something, so that's why I say to contact your doctor, you may need to take something...

I had the same thing. I took a Zyrtec and the itching eased up. Must have been anesthesia or in my case coming off the pre-op diet medications.

Thank you all! I will definitely take an allergy pill and see if that helps. I am already taking Biotin. And @@Seela you may be right on that....I know I am not getting in enough fluids everyday, so that may be what is causing it. I will have to try the Dove or Aveeno as well. I will let you all know how it goes, hopefully one of these things will help! Thanks sooo much!

I had that happen when I was jaundice from gall stones causing problems in my pancreas. Probably not. Your case but figured I'd throw it out there.

I'm itchy too! I was thinking it was my liquid vitamins but it wasn't .

I had this problem too. It was the Dilaudid pain med. My doc gave me steriod

meds to take. The itching on the palm of my hands and the bottom of my feet was the worst. It was an itch you just can't scratch. I was taking benidryl but that didn't help

I had this too at about 5 weeks. I thought it was a new medicine I started at 4 weeks. My PCP had me take over the counter allergy medicine and it went away after about 3 days.

It seems to be better today...I took Benadryl before bed time...slept like a baby and feel much less itchy this morning ;)
