First Pureed Meal - Am I Full?

Recommended Posts

So tonight I am having my first food since having surgery. We had a casserole for dinner so I blended it up. It's heaven! I'm not sure how to tell though if I'm full. That might sound really weird. I've never really had a "full" sensation even before surgery. I'm worried about eating too much, especially with it being my first meal. I put 1/4 cup of food in a small bowl and Im eating it slowly with a baby spoon. I figured I wouldn't eat any more than 1/4 cup just to make sure. But has anyone else experienced this? Do you just continue to measure your food to make sure that you are within certain guidelines?

When I was at this stage I got the hiccups when I was full but you don't wanna be full right now. It's a really uneasy feeling to be full. Just keep measuring and you'll do great.

It took me a few weeks to start feeling full and even now I can't always tell. A 4th of a cup is only two ounces so you're probably good. Just go slow and keep paying attention to your body.

The answer to your question is yes. You should always measure. I am 9 months out and I still measure everything I eat. I would also caution against a casserole. You need to focus on eating Protein. Most casseroles have many other ingredients in them. Most would be hard to separate the meat out. I have had lasagna, but no other casserole type foods. Right now your goal is to get the maximum amount of protein grams and spend the fewest number of calories to get them. Good luck! I can tell you it is absolutely worth it!

Tonight was my first meal since surgery too! I used a hand blender to blend up Tomato Soup and low fat sour cream (to make it more creamy) and then I served up exactly 4 ounces of it. I am pretty sure now that I might be lactose intolerant if my bodys reaction was any indication. I'm hoping the sour cream may have just been too dairy rich on an otherwise totally empty stomach. Either way though, to answer you question, I had no idea if I was full or not. I think I'm full now because I don't feel uncomfortable, but very sated and I couldn't even think of eating something.

Losing my hair in clumps and still dealing with "stomach" issues from gallbladder removal surgery. On the positive side I'm doing better about meeting protein and water goals and taking my vitamins, so yay? 🤷‍♀️

I've hit a stall 9 months out. I'm not worried, though. My fitness levels continue to improve and I have nearly accomplished my pre-surgery goal of learning to scuba dive! One dive left to complete to get my PADI card 🐠
I was able to go for a 10K/6mile hike in the mountains two days ago just for the fun of it. In the before days, I might have attempted this, but it would have taken me 7 or 8 hours to complete and I would have been exhausted and in pain for the next two days. Taking my time with breaks for snacks and water, I was finished with my wee jaunt in only 4 hours 😎 and really got to enjoy photographing some insects, fungi, and turtles.
