I would do it 100000's times over! I've had no issues, and am well over a year out (surg date was 1/29/13). I've reached my goal and feel great in body, soul and mind. I eat what I want, just a lot less of it. Life is good, and I thank God every day for my sleeve!

I would do it again, no question about it. I didn't always say that - I was guarded the first few weeks. At 15 months out, the quality of my life has improved immensely. I am 51, and have as much energy as I did in my 20s (and that's a lot!), and I look and feel so much better. I love being of a normal size, and not having the continuous worry if I'll physically fit in places, chairs, etc. I am liberated! Obesity took more of a toll on me than I ever realized.

As for complications, I would say 3+ physically. I had a post op incisional infection that took about 6-7 weeks to heal, and I felt pretty wiped out the first month or so. I'm sure it was made worse by that infection. Mentally, I'd say 0 complications. I think I've adjusted well and pretty easily to the life changes I needed to make. Of course the frustration of having a hard time getting the last few pounds off is irritating, but honestly, even if I never get there, I consider the surgery an overwhelming success.

MichiganChic, how long did it take you to begin to feel some energy? So far that has totally escaped me but I'm only about 35 pounds down and 7 weeks post-op.

I wouldn't have said this one week post-op, but I would definitely do it again! My blood pressure is down, I like the way I look, I feel great, and I can still enjoy food without being controlled by it.

I am 16 months post op. Complications level would be a 1. Even my husband and daughter couldn't believe how easy the surgery was for me. Now on a mental level? I would have to say a 3. It's hard to adjust to being smaller and people treating you differently than they did before. Would I do it again? ABSOLUTELY 100%. I now am on 1/4 of the blood pressure medicine I was on and moving towards none at all. My Arthritis is better. My oxygen level is better. I'm on 1 Asthma medicine instead of 4. My vision has improved to the point that I rarely need reading glasses anymore. I would definitely do it again!

Absolutely ....in a heartbeat! I had a little bit of buyers remorse in the first 2 weeks.... but mainly because I'm not sure there's much that can *really* prepare you for the emotional changes if you are an emotional eater.....but since then, I have not regretted it for one single minute. I have, though, been sad that I didn't do it about 10 years earlier!

Losing my hair in clumps and still dealing with "stomach" issues from gallbladder removal surgery. On the positive side I'm doing better about meeting protein and water goals and taking my vitamins, so yay? 🤷‍♀️

I've hit a stall 9 months out. I'm not worried, though. My fitness levels continue to improve and I have nearly accomplished my pre-surgery goal of learning to scuba dive! One dive left to complete to get my PADI card 🐠
I was able to go for a 10K/6mile hike in the mountains two days ago just for the fun of it. In the before days, I might have attempted this, but it would have taken me 7 or 8 hours to complete and I would have been exhausted and in pain for the next two days. Taking my time with breaks for snacks and water, I was finished with my wee jaunt in only 4 hours 😎 and really got to enjoy photographing some insects, fungi, and turtles.
