Researching Dr's in IL

Recommended Posts

HI all, in the process of researching surgeons. I think I've settled on Day One Health. If you've used them, any advice?

Also looking for feedback on other Dr's in IL

Thanx

I am scheduled to be banded on July 11th by Dr.Bonomo at mercy hospital, he's really good, great bedside manner so far. I spoke with a few of his patients who are already banded while waiting in the lobby and thay had no complaints.

My surgeon is Dr Woody Dunham out of Evanston Northwestern Healthcare, Evanston Hospital. He is really nice. So are his office staff. No sure how much you have to loose but he was concerned about me getting the band because he said that most people do not loose all the weight they need to and that I will have to work at it. I told him I would not be in his office if it was not for the band because I would not have the bypass. He was fine with that.

Good Luck to you!

Hello!!!

I would have to say the worst part about it was that it is down town Chicago!! What doc are you going with?

That is one of my issues as well, the location. What if I need a fill or have a problem I have to go all the way to 900 N or to UIC...I'm in the SW Suburbs! My other issue was who to pick???? I like the ofice and Gladys is an inpiration, she and Jodee! Dr. Galvani did the infosession I attended on Saturday so I have a consultation scheduled with him. Who was your surgeon?

The Doc that I went with is Dr. Mark kadawoki and he has a couple of offices. I live in Racine, Wi. I First went to his office in liberityVille. You only have to go to the one downtown 2 times. The first time was for all the blood work, nurtionalist, and ekg. The second time was for the lap band. You don't go back for fills, you go to the doc office for that !

I would say go to lapband site and see if there is a surgeon that is near your house!! If not Dr. Galvani will be your surgeon. You will go back to his office for all your fills.

I Have not gotten my first fill yet but i have lost 20lbs all ready! I LOVED THE SEMINAR!!! I learned so much.

I was banded by Dr. Myers at Rush Hospital and he is awesome. Great bedside manner. Excellent representation in his office from the nurse to the receptionists at the front. I say research all Doctors before you make your mind up completely.

I was banded by Dr. Agos at Swedish Covenant Hospital. His nurse was banded by him and is doing great. I love my surgeon, his partners, clincal team and office staff. They're the best and very supportive. My aftercare has been wonderful.

Best wishes to you.

On day 4 of the 2 week liquid pre-op diet. Surgery scheduled for June 11th.
Soooo I am coming to a realization
of something and I'm not sure what to do about it. For years the only thing I've enjoyed is eating. We rarely do anything or go anywhere and if we do it always includes food. Family comes over? Big family dinner! Go camping? Food! Take a short ride or trip? Food! Holiday? Food! Go out of town for a Dr appointment? Food! When we go to a new town we don't look for any attractions, we look for restaurants we haven't been to. Heck, I look forward to getting off work because that means it's almost supper time. Now that I'm drinking these pre-op shakes for breakfast, lunch, and supper I have nothing to look forward to.  And once I have surgery on June 11th it'll be more of the same shakes. Even after pureed stage, soft food stage, and finally regular food stage, it's going to be a drastic change for the rest of my life. I'm giving up the one thing that really brings me joy. Eating. How do you cope with that? What do you do to fill that void? Wow. Now I'm sad.

Three months and four days ago... I was in Costa Rica having a life changing surgery! Yesterday we had a followup visit with Dr. Esmeral via video chat and this morning my middle number changed.  I'm down 47lbs and two pants sizes. I can wear a Large tshirt for the first time in like... 14 years! Woot!! Everything is going great. I have zero regrets. I went down to the riverwalk with a friend and walked 2 miles on Monday without even getting fatigued. And no more snoring or chugging pickle juice for crazy leg cramps! I need to go to the gym more... I'm making new shirts next week so that will motivate me. LOL But I'm also just not as TIRED all the time! I have a LONG way to go...but seeing the progress on the scales and in the mirror is a huge motivator!! Thank you all for cheering me on and supporting me!!
