March 2014 Sleevers

Recommended Posts

My weight loss has slowed to about a pound a week. Very frustrating. On Monday I started a 30 day paleo challenge and I'm down 4 pounds. I'm hoping to keep that pace up. I have 120 more lbs to go until goal.

I was sleeved 3/7 and I've lost 50lbs since surgery. I have been stuck for about 3 weeks at the same weight and I too have notice major Hair loss. I'm taking Biotin, idk if it helps or not. These stuck weeks are hard kind of gets you down in about the process. Trying to stay positive though, maybe need to increase exercise or change foods around. I eat a lot of pinto Beans and peanuts. Lol well a lot for me now. ????

I was sleeved 3/26 and have lost 70 lbs since surgery. My intake is around 800 calories per day. I've had stalls but I just keep my head down and carry on. Best wishes to all.

My sleeve was on 3/13, I'm still currently losing 1.5 to 2 lbs per week, 50+ since surgery date. I can go days with no movement in the scale, then drop more than a lb overnight. My lifestyle is very sedate and I target 800 calories and 60 grams Protein. I have some days up to 1,000 calories. I did aqua-aerobics for a month and had better results. I've had some Hair loss, but I started with a bit to spare. 5,000 units of Biotin are taken with my daily Flintstones Vitamins.< /p>

Hi Fellow March sleevers - 18th march 2014. Down 30.9 Kilograms (68.12 pounds approx).

I am thinking maybe it is time we all posted our 3-4 month pics or changed our profile pictures. I will go first here is my three month pic ... I have just started really losing the hair, I am ok with this as I know it is only temporary.

My hair is falling out like crazy. I bought some 5000mcg Biotin pills that I am going to start taking and I am going to buy some re growth Shampoo. I've lost at least 50% of my thickness!

Here's progress pics at 90 lbs lost

So I had my first stall this last week. I weigh in every Friday and the past 2 Fridays I have had no weight loss. I usually average about 2-3 lbs a week but this past week was nothing. I am down 64lbs since surgery and 74lbs from my highest. I was sleeved on 3/28/2014. I am very happy with my progress but looking forward to seeing 220 on the scale. Haven't seen that number on the scale since I was a sophomore in college. Hope this stall ends soon. Good luck all.

Is anyone else experiencing moments of light headedness when they get up from sitting or laying in bed? I'm afraid I may pass out one of these times. Any thoughts on the causes?

I am experiencing that yess. It has been scaring me alil. I have my 4 month appointment next month so I am gonna ask about it then. I also have an appointment today with my pcp so I will bringit up then. I have no idea why that happens. It is very scary how dizzy and light headed I have been getting. I will let you know what I find out.

Yeah, let me know! I too have an appointment next week so hopefully it's nothing too serious.

Oh yes. I've gotten very close to blacking out a couple times. Gotta be real careful that I get up out of my seat reallll slow and wait for a couple seconds before I start walking and then it doesn't happen.

Question for anyone, how did you get your mind right before surgery? Like as far as eating better foods and just doing better in general? I'm having a really hard time with this. Any help is appreciated 🙏❤️

I had about 6 months between deciding to do surgery and getting scheduled. I came across the book The Pound of Cure by Dr. Matthew Weiner, a bariatric surgeon in Arizona, and started to implement some of the changes he recommended (and lost 13 lbs in the process without ever feeling deprived). The book is very simple, and the focus is on whole, plant based foods, but within reason. It's not an all or nothing approach, or going vegan or something, but focuses on improvement and aiming for getting it right 80-90% of the time. His suggestions are divided into 12 sections that you can tackle over time, perhaps one per month for a year if a person is just trying to improve nutrition and build good habits. They range from things like cutting out artificial sweetener or eating more beans to eating a pound of vegetables per day. I found it really effective pre-surgery and it's an eating style I will be working to get back to as I am further out from surgery and have more capacity. Small changes you can sustain will do the most for building good habits for life.

That sounds awesome. I'll have to check that out thanks!

I've hit a stall 9 months out. I'm not worried, though. My fitness levels continue to improve and I have nearly accomplished my pre-surgery goal of learning to scuba dive! One dive left to complete to get my PADI card 🐠
I was able to go for a 10K/6mile hike in the mountains two days ago just for the fun of it. In the before days, I might have attempted this, but it would have taken me 7 or 8 hours to complete and I would have been exhausted and in pain for the next two days. Taking my time with breaks for snacks and water, I was finished with my wee jaunt in only 4 hours 😎 and really got to enjoy photographing some insects, fungi, and turtles.
Just for fun last week, I ran two 5Ks in two days, something I would have never done in the past! Next goal is a 10K before the end of this month.

Hi everyone, I wrote back in May about having no strength. I still get totally exhausted just walking from room to room, it’s so bad I’m using a walker with wheels of all things. I had the gastric sleeve Jan. 24th. I’m doing exactly what the programs says, except protein shakes. I have different meats and protein bars daily, including vitamins daily. I do drink my fluids as well.  I go in for IV hydration 4 days a week and feel ok just til evening.  So far as of Jan 1st I’ve dropped 76 lbs. I just want to enjoy the weight lose. Any suggestions or has anyone else gone thru this??  Doctor says just increase calorie intake, still the same.

Losing my hair in clumps and still dealing with "stomach" issues from gallbladder removal surgery. On the positive side I'm doing better about meeting protein and water goals and taking my vitamins, so yay? 🤷‍♀️
