Anybody recommed a doctor in Colorado Springs? I think Dr. Snyder in Denver is great, but I would love to have a doctor close by!

I feel like an old timer...but I'm actually from Wyoming. I was banded in Greeley by Dr. Johnell and go there for my fills. It's a fantastic place! I've been banded over 3 years. Fun to read your threads! Rose

Hi there,

If anyone is interested, tonight is the WLS support group for Northern Colorado Surgical Associates.

Information from their website:

The Light for Life Bariatric Support Group meets on the last Monday of every month at Poudre Valley Hospital in Café F, from 6:00 to 8:00 pm. (Café F is located on basement level in back of cafeteria) This group is designed for patients and their families who have either had the surgery or are considering it. Becki Mudgett, RN facilitates the meetings and one of the surgeons is always in attendance to answer medical questions. We often times will have a guest speaker that will address certain topics of interest to the group. The support group is a wonderful resource for you and we hope you will take advantage of it.

Hi folks;

I am considering getting banded also- meeting with Dr. Tom Brown on Wednesday. His clinic is much closer to me than Kirshbaum.

I am very excited about it. And nervous about keeping the weight off but I think the band will give me the edge I need. I'm hoping to get a band in March.

Best to all; I love reading this thread!

I am from Loveland.Are there any support groups local??Thks Sugarmomma Banded5-05 _75#

Hi Sugarmomma, I'm in Loveland too. As far as I am aware, the closest WLS support groups are in either Fort Collins or Greeley. At Fort Collins (see my previous post), the NCSA doctors and staff are very welcoming, even if you haven't been banded by them. I've never been to the Greeley support group, so can't offer an opinion of their program.

I was banded by Dr Roller of the Northern Colorado Surgical Associates (NCSA) on Nov 27, 2007.

Okay my partner and I are both getting banded in March. We need to improve our health while we can.

We are going with Dr. Tom Brown in Denver- nice guy - great staff and $9900 each. Kirshenbaum is too far away for us but sounded good too.

And 52 lbs. in 6 months is great - good for you. I hope I do as well as you.

Best to all-

Well I have been out of the loop for a few months and have done nothing to try and lose weight. I am now back on track and am starting over in the morning. I was banded in Greeley with Dr. Johnell on 8/9/07. I have had about 4 fills. I do not have a support group or system due to the fact that I was banded in Greeley and I live in Colorado Springs. I went with Dr. Johnell because of his experience and back ground. Is there anyone in The Springs or a group here?

Losing my hair in clumps and still dealing with "stomach" issues from gallbladder removal surgery. On the positive side I'm doing better about meeting protein and water goals and taking my vitamins, so yay? 🤷‍♀️

I've hit a stall 9 months out. I'm not worried, though. My fitness levels continue to improve and I have nearly accomplished my pre-surgery goal of learning to scuba dive! One dive left to complete to get my PADI card 🐠
I was able to go for a 10K/6mile hike in the mountains two days ago just for the fun of it. In the before days, I might have attempted this, but it would have taken me 7 or 8 hours to complete and I would have been exhausted and in pain for the next two days. Taking my time with breaks for snacks and water, I was finished with my wee jaunt in only 4 hours 😎 and really got to enjoy photographing some insects, fungi, and turtles.

I have no clue where to upload this, so I'll put it here. This is pre-op vs the morning of my 6 month appointment! In office I weight 232, that's 88 lbs down since my highest weight, 75 lbs since my surgery weight! I can't believe this jacket fit... I am smaller now than the last time I was this size which the surgeon found really amusing. He's happy with where I am in my weight loss and estimates I'll be around 200 lbs by my 1 year anniversary! My lowest weight as an adult is 195, so that's pretty damn exciting to think I'll be near that at a year. Everything from there will be unknown territory!!
