What is everyone snacking on?

Recommended Posts

I will be 8 weeks post op on Monday, 3/24. I had my surgery January 27, 2014. What is everyone snacking on? I have been having such a hard time eating foods. Noting tastes good and I don't like the texture of anything. Here is my daily diet:

30 minutes after I wake up- Protein shake (Premier Protein 30 g)

Breakfast- Greek Yogurt (about 2-3 oz)

Lunch- chicken chipotle Soup (Homemade) barely eat the juice, just eat the pieces

Snack- 1/4 banana

Dinner- chicken chipotle Soup (homemade) barely eat the juice, just eat the pieces

My Chicken chipotle soup is made with lots of Shredded Chicken Breast, Green Beans, Zucchini, celery, cilantro and chipotle chilies.

Apart from the above, really the only other things I can tolerate are:

Cream of Wheat

some cheeses

fruit

salads (romaine lettuce only) but I can only eat a little

That is pretty much it, and I have tried just about everything.. Just don't like the way it tastes or the way my stomach feels like its turning inside me.

Any suggestions would be great. As of now, I am not allowed to eat Beef or Pork.

Have you tried deli shaved meats? I've also heard that the little sausages in a can are good (I don't like them). String cheese and cottage cheese are also decent choices. Because your tummy is new, you're going to have that crazy noise coming from it. Don't be surprised. :)

Yeah I have tried deli meat as well and I don't like the taste. It tastes so fake. I do like cottage cheese, and to eat it with watermelon also. Its not the crazy noises that bother me.. Its the feeling, I feel nauseous when I feel my stomach turning.

I HATE that feeling too! I am about 3 months out from my sleeve, so it gets better! I have to watch what I eat still, it's awesome you can eat lettuce, I WANT a salad so bad, but veggies as a whole are rough for me still. I still take a Prilosec everyday, but don't want to do that forever, so I try to skip it and man on those days, my tummy HATES me! I have found that if I eat half portions, wait an hour or so, then eat the rest of the 1\4 cup that it doesn't hurt so much.

My biggest issue is Water, I drink all day long it feels like but I am so dehydrated! My skin feels like sandpaper!

I bought some popsicle molds. I puree fruit, add a little Splenda (for now, later on I want to wean myself off of artificial sweeteners), and freeze those bad boys up. YUM. Low calorie, and fairly low carb in the whole scheme of things.

Be well…

I have no clue where to upload this, so I'll put it here. This is pre-op vs the morning of my 6 month appointment! In office I weight 232, that's 88 lbs down since my highest weight, 75 lbs since my surgery weight! I can't believe this jacket fit... I am smaller now than the last time I was this size which the surgeon found really amusing. He's happy with where I am in my weight loss and estimates I'll be around 200 lbs by my 1 year anniversary! My lowest weight as an adult is 195, so that's pretty damn exciting to think I'll be near that at a year. Everything from there will be unknown territory!!

I changed my profile image to a molecule of protein. Why? Because I am certain that it saved my life.

That's brilliant! You've done amazing!! I should probably think about changing my profile picture at some point. Mine is the doll from Squid Games. Ironically the whole premise of the show is about dodging death. We've both done that...

Two years out. Lost 120 , regained 5 lbs. Recently has a bout of Norovirus, lost 7 pounds in two days. Now my stomach feels like it did right after my surgery. Sore, sensitive to even water.  Anyone out there have a similar experience?
