June 2014 Sleevers Check In!

Recommended Posts

Hello everyone.

I'm completely new to this whole site and this is my first post!

I had my sleeve operation on Thursday June 12th. That was 12 days ago now & as of this morning Ive lost 14lbs.

My recovery is going well apart from the whole Protein issue. I can not bare the taste of them & I've tried a few.

I'm TERRIFIED if I don't get enough protein my hair will fall out. I have very thin hair as it is & it's one of the only features I like about my body!

Has anyone else had the issue of Hair loss due to not getting enough protein...?

Thanks in advance :-)

I really like Premier Protein shakes. They taste really good. Only one I have found that I like.

I'm with you jcream. I like premier the best. I have also tried BSN and like it but that is the only powder one that I have been able to stomach. I am 6 days out and only drinking with sugar free popsicles and Jello. Hope to start some soft food this weekend.

Start taking 5000 Biotin a day. It is supposed to help with hair loss. My doctor said to wait 4 weeks post op before starting. Good luck.

Let me know how it works for you. Where can I find the Unjury? I never heard of that one. Would like to try it.

Sarah the gave a website Unjury.com and I order the sample pack. I got 2 packs of 5 flavors for like 28 bucks. The chocolate one was pretty good and I was able to get it down.

Hi all! I'm four days post op, and feeling good! Tried to manage my minimal pain with Tylenol instead of the prescription for the first time today. It's ok; I think I'll take a "good" one for bed though. I've averaged about two Protein Shakes a day, and about half of the Water. scale isn't moving a whole lot yet, but down 25 since starting the process in April. HUGE shout out to the nurses and staff at Brigham & Women's in Boston. Amazing.

Thanks Stacie. I will check it out. It will be nice to just have another Protein option just to change things up a bit

How's everyone doing?? Beautiful day today. Woke up with a little nausea but otherwise feeling good. Out coaching my athletes this morning and that always lifts me up. Trying to get creative with my diet during this liquid phase and still get all the Protein. Feel like a chemist when mixing my food potions in the vitamix.lol any ideas? I know it's everyone's struggle. I am doing better than I thought I would. Just a few days ago I was depressed and wondering what I did to myself. Now I feel it was the best thing I've ever done for myself. So to all those struggling in their first week, it gets better!!

Nice to see everyone sharing their experiences. I've used this thread a lot to cope with the changes this week. So I'm 1 week post-op today. Looking back I've come a long way since my first consultation with my surgeon. Looking back on my notes that day I measure in at 6'-6" 444lbs. The day of surgery I was 406lbs.

1 week post-op. I'm 385lbs.

That's 59lbs since March 13th

21 lbs since June 17th. I am getting tired of the liquid diet already. I find myself having cravings for certain foods even when I'm not hungry. I'm glad to see progress and can't wait for the soft food phase.

I was tired of the Protein shakes the day after discharge. I have tried yogurt, cheese and eggs, Soup and today a little tuna, the jury is still out on the tuna. I also ate some Peanut Butter with half a banana. It gets old quick.

My concern is that I am eating right at 4oz but haven't pushed it to see how much I can tolerate. I'm full after one bite of anything so it's hard to read my body as far as being full.

Best of luck to you!!

i know what you mean about reading the fullness. I know in early out but I find that even with purée foods in not sure when I'm full since I wasn't very hungry to start with. I am looking forward to eggs, cheese, and tuna. ;)

I have no clue where to upload this, so I'll put it here. This is pre-op vs the morning of my 6 month appointment! In office I weight 232, that's 88 lbs down since my highest weight, 75 lbs since my surgery weight! I can't believe this jacket fit... I am smaller now than the last time I was this size which the surgeon found really amusing. He's happy with where I am in my weight loss and estimates I'll be around 200 lbs by my 1 year anniversary! My lowest weight as an adult is 195, so that's pretty damn exciting to think I'll be near that at a year. Everything from there will be unknown territory!!

So proud of you Cat. Getting into those smaller size clothes is half the fun isn't it?. Keep up the good work!!!!

I changed my profile image to a molecule of protein. Why? Because I am certain that it saved my life.

That's brilliant! You've done amazing!! I should probably think about changing my profile picture at some point. Mine is the doll from Squid Games. Ironically the whole premise of the show is about dodging death. We've both done that...

Two years out. Lost 120 , regained 5 lbs. Recently has a bout of Norovirus, lost 7 pounds in two days. Now my stomach feels like it did right after my surgery. Sore, sensitive to even water.  Anyone out there have a similar experience?
