4 weeks out and feeling defeated

Recommended Posts

I had surgery on 2/17/2014. I gained 10lbs or so after surgery from all the Water and gas, but lost that and then lost 16lbs since then.

So...this past week I have not weighed myself. My scale at home was on the fritz so I tossed it 3 wks ago and decided to only weigh myself once a week at my moms house so I don't become obsessive. I haven't weighed myself since last Monday. I broke down and bought a scale today bc I hate not knowing. I will be 4 weeks post op tomorrow and I just weighed myself... I have GaINED a pound!! How??? This week was the best week I've had since surgery as far as getting in all my Protein, plus I've been walking 3-4 miles a day! I've not hit 8 cups of water yet but I've gotten in 5-7 a day. I'm trying not to freak out but quite honestly, in feeling very defeated and already that little voice in the back of my head is saying "see, I told u it wouldn't work." It's one thing not to lose and to be in a stall...but how can I gain?! Anyone else experience this? What am I doing wrong?

My surgery was the day after yours, but don't get down on yourself. As of today, I've only lost a total of 16lbs also. That's total! I hitter a stall after wk 1 n didn't loose anything else til last week n lost a lb then another here n there. I'm still not getting in all my Water either, but I didn't notice the weight change until I upped my Protein. So it's worth a try.

You are right on schedule for the dreaded "3 week stall"... Don't get discouraged, stalls happen to everyone. I only weigh 1x week and I'm almost 3 months out. my last 3 weights were 184, 187, and 185. And that was while being sick and not getting more than 500 calories/day. I'll weigh tomorrow, and may or may not have lost. I'm not too worried about it, because in the meantime, my jeans went from snug to loose. So "stuff" is happening even if the scale doesn't say so.

(I say return the scale. Not worth it if it makes you stress)

Thanks for the reassurance aqua and kindle. I was really worried I am doing something wrong...I mean doesn't a stall mean u r stuck at a weight and not gaining?! Lol I will work on my Protein and Water and just keep plugging away. I wanted to lose another 12lbs before my birthday on April 8 so I could be down to 230...may not happen but I won't give up. Thanks guys!

I know it's hard not to weigh daily because I'm bad about it, too. I finally had to put mine away. I will only weigh 1x a month for now. It's too frustrating!!

Covatila 84,

I'm going through the exact same thing. I'm feeling so down. Like I won't see the results I was expecting! Please let me know how you are doing now? Have you seen better results?

Hey how are you doing?! My stall finally broke! I was stall for a good 2.5 weeks tho. I bumped up my calories, Protein and Water and it worked. Also, during that stall I did lose inches even though I didn't lose lbs.

We may have different starting weights which could explain it maybe? I'm now down 35lbs since surgery. Slow, but I will take it! Every day is a challenge, focusing on getting my Protein, Water and I have really kicked up my exercise.

I have no clue where to upload this, so I'll put it here. This is pre-op vs the morning of my 6 month appointment! In office I weight 232, that's 88 lbs down since my highest weight, 75 lbs since my surgery weight! I can't believe this jacket fit... I am smaller now than the last time I was this size which the surgeon found really amusing. He's happy with where I am in my weight loss and estimates I'll be around 200 lbs by my 1 year anniversary! My lowest weight as an adult is 195, so that's pretty damn exciting to think I'll be near that at a year. Everything from there will be unknown territory!!

I changed my profile image to a molecule of protein. Why? Because I am certain that it saved my life.

That's brilliant! You've done amazing!! I should probably think about changing my profile picture at some point. Mine is the doll from Squid Games. Ironically the whole premise of the show is about dodging death. We've both done that...

Two years out. Lost 120 , regained 5 lbs. Recently has a bout of Norovirus, lost 7 pounds in two days. Now my stomach feels like it did right after my surgery. Sore, sensitive to even water.  Anyone out there have a similar experience?

      April Surgery
Am I the only struggling to get weight down. I started with weight of 297 and now im 280 but seem to not lose more weight. My nutrtionist told me not to worry about the pounds because I might still be losing inches. However, I do not really see much of a difference is this happen to any of you, if so any tips?
      Thanks
