Congrads Melissa! Enjoy you honeymoon!

Wenjea - Not struggling yet but yesterday I found out I am going to be a Gramma for the first time. This is great news of course but, the sad part is that she is not married. So I allowed myself yesterday to mourn for her and to wallow a bit in depression...went and bought a Whitman's Sampler. I ate some of it (planned on stuffing the whole box) but, I just couldn't do it and it didn't fill the empty hole in my heart so I took it out to the staff to eat.

Today only joy and peace. Babies are always a blessing and I am going to enjoy every minute of this from here on out.

Blessings, Weazer

mini - congratulations!! A baby under any circumstance is a blessing. I to am expecting my first Grandchild and this afternoon at 2:30 they are supposed to find out if it will be a girl or a boy. We are just praying for a healthy baby no matter what sex it is. Since i am a mom of four biological and two adopted children I can tell you that whatever she decides to do it will work out well. I think the only regret women really have is when they terminate their pregnancy early. I am a believer in pro-life except where rape/incest is concerned. And then I think only in minors and extreme cases, and only in the first trimester.

Anyway I think babies are a blessing and with your support I bet she will be a great mom. And isn't it great that you are going to be in such great shape to help her!!! Celebrate life!!

Wenjea, thank you for your uplifting words. Thank God my daughter is pro life as well. She briefly considered adopting the baby out (so the baby would have a two parent family) but she has decided she wants to keep the baby. Babies are a blessing. I have been wanting one in the family for along time. Of course I wish it were under different circumstances...I wanted it to be different for her...see I was a unwed mother when I was her age too. I so hoped that she would learn from my mistakes. But, we can't live our childrens lifes for them...just try and show them the best way. Well, it didn't happen but, God is blessing me with a grandbaby! I will cherish this child and love my daughter all the more.

Thanks. (Won't it be strange to be called Gramma)

Blessings, Weazer

Oh, and by the way, Wenjean, congrads! Please let me know if it's a boy or a girl. We have no boys in my family. Me and both of my sisters have all had girls. A baby boy would make me extremely happy!

Wenjea and Mini....Congratulations to both of you!!!! You are both very blessed! Wenjea I could not agree more with the kind words you had for Mini....very well said, and how wonderful that you adopted two children. They are very lucky to be adopted by such a nice family.

Keep us posted on the babies!!!

Thank you Metalband for you kind words too! How are y'all doing? It is quite on the board! I am feeling like I am well into the 180's I can't wait to weigh in on the first. This could be another of those 10pd wght loss months from the feel of it.

Here I am cooking a big dinner day after Thanksgiving for me and the girls....I will be so mad if I can't eat it!

It's a baby girl according to the ultra sound and they got a very good shot of it so they have picked the name Chloe Mae (Mae is two grandmothers middle names) but there is still a few months to change their minds on the name which we all know moms do so I'm not engraving anything yet. She looked just perfect on the ultra sound, it is so amazing what they can see now.

Mini - I am praying for you and your daughter that everything will go well and you will get a healthy baby (boy) to love. Is dad in the picture at all?

I haven't got on the scale for a couple of days to see if I do better when I'm not constantly weighing myself.

Hello Wenjea

A baby girl, how wonderful and I love the name Chloe. My daughter says if she has a girl she will be named Vivianna and called Vivy for short. If it's a boy she will name him Cole Alexander. She has not told the young man yet that she is pregnant. He is not a great person and she thinks he will just not want anything to do with her. Isn't that great. Why when your young do you let people use you like that. Oh well, bless her heart..she will be well taken care of anyway.

Once again congrads, we can share stories of our first grandchild...whens your's due?

Blessings, Weazer

Mini - The baby is due March 29th but my son was 2 1/2 weeks late so I'm thinking she will hang around till April. I have a feeling that will be here sooner then I think. I'm glad I have the holidays to distract me from obsessing about it.

How about your grandbaby? when is the due date?

Wenjea,

We are not really sure yet. She is probably only 4-6 weeks preggers. That puts her some where to June or July. I am still holding out hope that it is a false positive result because of her estrogen levels. It's not that I'm not excited about the baby, I go crazy of babies and have wanted a grandbaby for soooo long..I just know that her life is fixing to change more than she know. She is a full time student and intends to finish her degree (history teacher). She knows it more important to do that now than ever. It is tough being a single parent and not having anyone to share the special moments with....to see the milestones the baby makes. But, I did it with her and I never regreted it for one second...you see I made the same stupid mistakes...I didn't have much parenting as a teen, kinda had to fiqure it all out for myself. But heck, it made me who I am today. My Mom was such a support to me as a adult that I couldn't have done it without her. I will make it as smooth as possible for Nicky as I can. I have a very strong faith and love the Lord with all my heart. He put it in my heart that this is another generation to spread the good word!

Mini - I feel very strongly that my kids and grandkids are my legacy. They are what I am giving the world. My Three oldest sons are married now to wonderful women who are strong believers. They are productive in society and generous givers to their church and communities. My three youngest are still home but I will launch my fourth son soon. He is 21 and still finishing school in graphic design. He is my artist child, very gifted and intelligent but struggling to find that soul-mate who will help mold him in to the man that God intended him to be. My girls are in the their teens and start high school next year. I pray for patience and understanding and that they will remain close to me in their hearts and actions. they are strong girls and go to a christian school so they know right from wrong. They have goals and dreams so my job is to help them believe they can do whatever their passion is.

I love being a full time mom and can't imagine missing out on even a second of their lives. I realize that my husband gave me a very special gift when he made it possible for me to stay home with my children. I am in awe of full time working moms who can be successful at doing both things well.

Wow - tomorrow is my six months day from surgery! In some ways it has been so easy and in other ways I'm a bit disappointed that I still have so far to go. . . I am really wanting to be under 200 by my year anniversary. This second half is soooooo much slower then the first. Oh well, at 5'10'' i don't look so bad at size 16, it's just that I want to be a normal size 14 for the rest of my life. I want to be able to walk into any store in America and have a 14 fit me with room to spare. Is that to much to ask????

Guess I will go have some more water!

Wenjea - It is obvious that you don't take your blessings for granted and are grateful for what God has blessed you with. Listen, I would give my eye teeth to have been able to be a stay at home Mom. I know that it is the best job in the whole wide world. I got to do it for four years with my youngest daughter and they were the best years of my life. Course those are the years that I put on most of the excess wght. I cooked three squares a day and could whip up a sheet cake in 15 minutes. My family loved it. Every drawer and cabinet was clean and organized...you should see it now. If you open a cupboard you better hold your hands in front of your face because something is certain to tumble out the minute you open the door. But, I've managed both working and being a Mom now that I'm doing it alone. At least God gave me those four beautiful years at home to remember. Well, I know youv'e got your hands full Wenjea, so you have a beautiful weekend..I know you must have to cook a huge Thanksgiving Dinner...goodness. Great to hear how you appreciate your husband!

Blessings, Weazer

Oh, if your 5'10 and into a size 16...I bet you look fandarntastic! i am in a 16 (can wear some 14's) and am only 5"5 and a 1/2. (Notice the half is important enough to notate)! You shouldn't have much to go to get into 14...maybe 10-15 pds? You'll make by next May!

2 days until I fly out to San Diego to have my Bypass Surg. in Tiajuana Mexico. Not gonna lie, the nerves are starting to surface. I don't fear the surgery itself, or the fact that I'm traveling alone, but its the aftermath that I'm stressing about the most, after this 8 week wait. I'm excited to finally be here, but I am really dreading the post surgical chapter. I know its going to be tough, real tough and I think I'm just in my head to much now that the day i here. Wish me luck, Hopefully I'm one of the lucky ones, and everything goes smoothly. Cant wait to give an exciting update,. If there is anyone else have a June bypass or even a recent one, Id love to have someone to compare war stories with. Also, anyone near San Antonio Tx? See ya soon with the future me. 💜

I am new here today... and only two weeks out from my sleeve surgery on the 23rd. I am amazed I have kept my calories down to 467 today so far... that leaves me almost 750 left for dinner and maybe a snack. This is going to be tough for two weeks... but I have to believe I can do it!

Hey everyone. I'm new here so I thought I should introduce myself. I am 53y/o and am scheduled for Gastric Bypass on June 25th, 2025. I'm located in San Antonio, Texas. I will be having my surgery in Tiajuana Mexico. I've wanted this for years, but I always had insurance where bariatric procedures were excluded. Finally I am able to afford to pay out of pocket.  I can't wait to get started, and I hope I'm prepared for the initial period of "hell". I know what I have signed up for, but I'm sure the good to come will out way the temporary period of discomfort and feelings of regret. I'd love to find people to talk to who have been through the same procedure or experience before. So I look forward to meeting you all. Hope you have a great week!

I'm so happy for you! You are about to change your life. I was so glad to get the sleeve done in Dec. I didn't have feelings of regret overall. And I'm down almost 60 lbs. I do feel a little sad at restaurants. I can barely eat half a kid's meal. I get adults meals often because kid ones don't have the same offerings at times. Then I feel obligated to eat on that until it's gone and that can be days. So the restaurant thing isn't great for me. All the rest is fine by me! I love feeling full with very little. I do wish I could drink when eating. And will sip at the end. Just a strong habit to stop. But I'm working on it! You will do fine! Just keep focused on your desire to be different. Not better or worse. But different. I am happy both ways but my low back doesn't like me that heavy. So I listened (also my feet!). LOL! Update us on your journey! I'm not far from you. I'm in Houston. Good luck and I hope it all goes smoothly! Would love to see pics of the town you go to for this. I've never been there. Neat you will be traveling for this! Enjoy the journey. Take it one day at a time. Sometimes a few hours at a time. Follow all recommendations as best you can. 💗

Thank you so much for your well wishes. I am hoping that everything goes easy for me as well. We don't eat out much as it is, so it wont be too bad in that department. Thankfully. Also, I hear you regarding your back and feet!! I'd like to add knees to the list. Killing me as we speak! I'm only 5' so the weight has to go. Too short to carry all this weight. Menopause really did a doosey on me. (😶lol) My daughter also lives in Houston. with her Husband and my 5 grand-littles. I grew up in Beaumont, so I know Houston well, I will be sure to keep in touch and update you on my journey. I may need some advice in the future, or just motivation. Thank You so much for reaching out, I was hoping to connect with someone in the community. I really appreciate it. 💜

On day 4 of the 2 week liquid pre-op diet. Surgery scheduled for June 11th.
Soooo I am coming to a realization
of something and I'm not sure what to do about it. For years the only thing I've enjoyed is eating. We rarely do anything or go anywhere and if we do it always includes food. Family comes over? Big family dinner! Go camping? Food! Take a short ride or trip? Food! Holiday? Food! Go out of town for a Dr appointment? Food! When we go to a new town we don't look for any attractions, we look for restaurants we haven't been to. Heck, I look forward to getting off work because that means it's almost supper time. Now that I'm drinking these pre-op shakes for breakfast, lunch, and supper I have nothing to look forward to.  And once I have surgery on June 11th it'll be more of the same shakes. Even after pureed stage, soft food stage, and finally regular food stage, it's going to be a drastic change for the rest of my life. I'm giving up the one thing that really brings me joy. Eating. How do you cope with that? What do you do to fill that void? Wow. Now I'm sad.

I hope your surgery on Wednesday goes well. You will be able to do all sorts of new things as you find your new normal after surgery. I don't know this from experience yet, but I am seeing a lot of positive things from people who have had it done. Best of luck!

Life as a big person had limited my life to what I knew I could manage to do each day. That was eat. I hadn't anything else to look forward to. So my eating choices were the best I could dream up. I planned the cooking in managable lots in my head and filled my day with and around it.

Now I have a whole new big, bigger, biggest, best days ever. I am out there with those skinny people doing stuff i could never have dreamt of. Food is now an after thought. It doesn't consume my day. I still enjoy the good home cooked food but I eat smaller portions. I leave food on my plate when I am full. I can no longer hear my mother's voice saying eat it all up, ther are starving children in Africa who would want that!

I still cook for family feasts, I love cooking. I still do holidays but I have changed from the All inclusive drinking and eating everything everyday kind to Self catering accommodation. This gives me the choice of cooking or eating out as I choose. I rarely drink anymore as I usually travel alone now and I feel I need to keep aware of my surroundings.

I don't know at what point my life expanded, was it when I lost 100 pounds? Was it when I left my walking stick at home ? Was it when I said yes to an outing instead of finding an excuse to stay home ? i look back at my last five years and wonder how loosing weight has made such a difference. Be ready to amaze yourself.

BTW, the liquid diet sucks, one more day and you are over the worst. You can do it.
