Manatee - Lipo is not cheating. Just like the band it is a "tool". I think you are looking Marvalous by the way.

Sorry I've been MIA lately.. My husband has been having a really tough time with the PTSD and had to go in the hospital over an hour away.. he is home now but will be going back for 6-8 weeks. I've been so stressed...unable to eat anything for the past week... lost 5 lbs but not the way I wanted it to happen...

anyhow... glad to see everyone is doing well...

Anyone heard from Sandra??

I left my life for seven glorious months. I rode a bicycle everywhere i went, if not, walked. I ate protien when i could because i knew it was important and ...this is important...if you have a bp episode...and you will....go to liquids for the rest of the day, let your stomach recover. I go to a gym three times a week with a work out buddy in the mornings, and we do coffee after. as far as liquid protien: slim fast low carb shakes. twenty grams protien and four carbs. i only use them as Meal Replacements.

i eat like a normal person pretty much but i stay clear of sticky carbs that i know will just get stuck...except for every now and then, and then i take it small and slow.

i love this band. it really has changed my entire life. this is by far the healthiest approach to weight loss ive explored to this date. I only wish my father could have known about it before he passed.

Hey Lizrbit - You are doing so great!!! all I can say is WOW!!

Melissa - I am so sorry to hear about the tuff time your DH is having. It is so hard when the ones we love are struggling. You are in my toughts and prayers. I have not seen Sandra around here lately...

HEY Sandra if you are lurking let us know how you and that baby are doing. We miss you!!!

As I shared earlier I have been having reflux and heartburn problems lately. I went to the Doc last Friday, and he unfilled me, only left in 1/2 cc. All of the problems went away. He wants me to stay this way for about a month and let things calm down and then slowly refill me. Went on a motorcyle ride this weekend to Ashville,NC with a group of our friends, I did pretty good. Tried to eat alot of fruit and salads and drink lots of Water. Have not been able to eat salads for a long time, so I enjoyed it. I still have some restriction, so I am trying to make good choices. It has just been wonderful to get a good nights rest and not wake up with acid in my mouth. Being overfilled is just not good! OH, NSV..... I needed a jacket to wear on the bike, and we stopped at this shop, I picked out this one I liked, got a size large to try on...... my DH looked at me and said "Honey, when are you going to see that you are no longer a large?", he then handed me a small..... yes I said size SMALL..... and it fit me perfect. My DH then looke at me and said "SEE, I told you so!" I never dreamed I would wear a size small. Of course I had to buy the jacket.......

Oh, on a diffrent note, I have a grandbaby due this week. I am so very excited. It is a boy. He is due May 28th (my moms birthday)..... so we are on baby watch. She goes to the Doc today for a checkup, so we will know more of when to expect Ian Kenneth will be showing up.

Hope eveyone had a great Memorial Day Holiday.

Take it one day at a time,

Laura

Laura- Thank you. Yes, it has been very tough to watch him suffer...but hopefully now he will get the help he needs and the treatment he deserves.

We had another appt at the VA today... we put the request in to change Doctors and spoke with the social worker a little more in detail about the program he will be entering. He "interviews" for the program on Friday... they said they normally have beds available within a week...but we are leaving for St. Louis on 6/6 to visit his family...and returning the following weekend.. so he will most likely start the program once we return. It will be a long and rough 6-8 weeks...but hopefully he will be returned to me as a normal..and healthy 27 year old man.

I'm still having a hard time eating at times... yesterday it was almost impossible to eat... PB'ing on a few quick gulps of OJ... I'm just taking it very slow.

... a little late reporting a NSV... our 13 year old daughter called me skinny! Thats saying something coming from a teenager!!! I was thrilled!

... a little late reporting a NSV... our 13 year old daughter called me skinny! Thats saying something coming from a teenager!!! I was thrilled!

Isn't that great? My stepdaughter (15yrs and size 0 and very fat phobic) runs around calling me skinny minny!!!! Everytime one of my sisters or my mom see me, they comment on how much more i've lost (I haven't lost anything in months, but that's another story) I think they are just so used to seeing me big that seeing me smaller is still just a shock.

I need to go on the pouch test diet though, I went to Sweet Tomatoes tonight and had 2 cups of Soup, about a cup of salad and two servings of soft serve vanilla ice cream...NO WONDER i'm not losing weight, but that seems like a lot of food...although it is not very solid so that may be why. I tried to eat a hamburger patty for dinner last night and slimed after one bite....argh. In the AM I struggle to get an entire packet of weight control oatmeal down, but at night, I have a screaming sweet tooth-probably due to my low calorie intake during the day....

I'm also working my butt off in the yard this last month, so may be building muscle again too...(my butt has been perpetually sore too...argh)

Hey May Banders!

Sorry, I have not been on in a while. I have been so busy. My bandiversary was on the 17th. I weighed 192, which put me at down 82.6 since the beginning. I know I could be doing better, but I am fighting myself. I think I need a slight unfill. I can only eat a few bites of meat at a meal, so then I resort to other things....

I hope everyone is doing well.

Melissa- I am so sorry to hear about you DH. I will be praying for your family.

Hey Twinmommy- I like you was so tight that I was only able to eat a few bites of meat, I somehow in my mind then could justify eating other things - sliders - that were not good for me at all. I was also have heartburn and some relux at night. About a week and a half ago the Doc unfilled me down to .5 cc. No more reflux and I am so enjoying eating big salads and tuna, chicken etc. And guess what, the scales have started moving again. I am not saying I have not been tempted to eat pizza, bread and all of the bad stuff. But it is nice to be able to eat better foods. I do get real hungy between meals so I am eating 4 or 5 small meals, lots of fruit and vegies. But, I will be going in for a fill in the next 2 weeks. I will be ready......

OH - Grandbaby is due any time. His due date was May 28th, so I am on standby. They are in Texas and I am in Tennessee so it is about a 9 hour drive..... just a waiting...

(It sure is quiet in here)

Take care all

Laura

Hello Amazing Bandsters. Gosh, once we reached our year, I guess we got it pretty much figured out and don't need as much support. This is where I am today. Maintaining my same weight loss since March. Still hovering around 180. I am plateaued for sure. I went to my family doctor yesterday and she was really happy about it even if I'm not. She showed me a graph of my weight ranges since 2005 and I've always hovered between 200 - 220 then for a three month period I got up into the 232 range. (I admit I did gain some so that I would be approved for the surgery). So she was very happy with 180 and showed me my graph of blood pressure during that time too. She showed me how it has gone down to normal after always being so high. So I have allot to be happy about. I am going to keep trying to get my last 30-35 lbs off. I may even go get some of that ALI (fat blocker) that has just come on the market. My other friend had the lap band and her doctor suggested it.

I'll let you know.

Blessings, Lisa

-Still- trying to find the right spot in the fill levels. Thought I finally had it, but it has tightened on me in the past week. Night reflux, pb and eating chips and junk just to get calories in. I've emailed the doc's office asking for yet another unfill. :tongue2:

Looks like it's Atkins Time

Well, that's a bummer, Manatee. I hope you get it fine-tuned soon. Remember: slow and easy wins the race.

Today I got on the scales and I have lost 120 pounds. The more I think about it, the more it seems like a dream. I mean, I didn't feel this way about 118, but 120 is just kind of surreal. I'm loving it, but it's strange!

Question for anyone, how did you get your mind right before surgery? Like as far as eating better foods and just doing better in general? I'm having a really hard time with this. Any help is appreciated 🙏❤️

I had about 6 months between deciding to do surgery and getting scheduled. I came across the book The Pound of Cure by Dr. Matthew Weiner, a bariatric surgeon in Arizona, and started to implement some of the changes he recommended (and lost 13 lbs in the process without ever feeling deprived). The book is very simple, and the focus is on whole, plant based foods, but within reason. It's not an all or nothing approach, or going vegan or something, but focuses on improvement and aiming for getting it right 80-90% of the time. His suggestions are divided into 12 sections that you can tackle over time, perhaps one per month for a year if a person is just trying to improve nutrition and build good habits. They range from things like cutting out artificial sweetener or eating more beans to eating a pound of vegetables per day. I found it really effective pre-surgery and it's an eating style I will be working to get back to as I am further out from surgery and have more capacity. Small changes you can sustain will do the most for building good habits for life.

That sounds awesome. I'll have to check that out thanks!

I've hit a stall 9 months out. I'm not worried, though. My fitness levels continue to improve and I have nearly accomplished my pre-surgery goal of learning to scuba dive! One dive left to complete to get my PADI card 🐠
I was able to go for a 10K/6mile hike in the mountains two days ago just for the fun of it. In the before days, I might have attempted this, but it would have taken me 7 or 8 hours to complete and I would have been exhausted and in pain for the next two days. Taking my time with breaks for snacks and water, I was finished with my wee jaunt in only 4 hours 😎 and really got to enjoy photographing some insects, fungi, and turtles.
Just for fun last week, I ran two 5Ks in two days, something I would have never done in the past! Next goal is a 10K before the end of this month.

Hi everyone, I wrote back in May about having no strength. I still get totally exhausted just walking from room to room, it’s so bad I’m using a walker with wheels of all things. I had the gastric sleeve Jan. 24th. I’m doing exactly what the programs says, except protein shakes. I have different meats and protein bars daily, including vitamins daily. I do drink my fluids as well.  I go in for IV hydration 4 days a week and feel ok just til evening.  So far as of Jan 1st I’ve dropped 76 lbs. I just want to enjoy the weight lose. Any suggestions or has anyone else gone thru this??  Doctor says just increase calorie intake, still the same.

Losing my hair in clumps and still dealing with "stomach" issues from gallbladder removal surgery. On the positive side I'm doing better about meeting protein and water goals and taking my vitamins, so yay? 🤷‍♀️
