Hey Everyone...... Happy Late Mother's Day!!

Well, the trip to Texas to attend my step daugherts graduation went well. And the all so dreaded meeting of the ex, well........ that went better than expected.

And I looked fabulous....(at least I felt that way). I had bought this really sharp looking pant suit (size 8). Got a new cut hair cut, had my nails done. My DH had this grin on his face and me on his arm when we walked into the restaurant to have lunch before the graduation. He said that I was the best "arm candy" he had ever seen. Then I meet the ex..............well, not that I was keeping any kind of score but...... I am younger than her, I am (now) thinner than she is, I do not have gray hair (thanks to the bottle) like she did. And she had her boyfriend there with her, and get this, I caught him "checking me out". Talking about good for a girls ego........... There was about an hour of time between the lunch and the graduation....my DH said he needed to stop by the hotel, he said he needed to get the extra batteries for the camera. Lets just say, that was not why he wanted to go back to the room, and I had to re-fix my hair. And he had a even bigger smile on his face when we went to the graduation. So all in all it went WONDERFUL!!! if all of that was not enough....get home and step on the scales and I lost 1 1/2 lbs, YEA. Life is good.

Surgical Weight Loss 5 Day Pouch Test

Laurie - Click on the above link and read about it. It really helped alot of us get kick started back into the right direction. It is called a pouch test..but we have been using it to get ourselves back on track.

Also, thanks for the inspiring tale of your friends wght loss journey. It was so encouraging!

Sue - I will be rooting for you on your 5 day pouch test too! It wasn't bac at all. Yes, I believe that you add onto the day before diet as you go along. I think the point is to get us back onto more protein...(band rules). It really helped kick me back into gear. I made pink lentils and turkey burgers this weekend and didn't blow it once! I'm on track and loving it. Thinking I will make my in the 170's goal this month!

Blessings all!

Laura...GO GIRL!!! Mega NSV!!!

Laurienj...

Weazer is right...that's the 5 day I was speaking of.

Surgical Weight Loss 5 Day Pouch Test

I've let the carbs (sugar) sneak in and I need some structure to get myself back on track. I didn't want to set myself up to fail, so this 5 days looks perfect...I KNOW I can do 5 days! I have my 1 year apt with my surgeoun on Friday, so that will be the goal of my 5 day, to be at the best place I can be for my check in.

Happy 1 year to all us aMAYzing 2007 bandsters!

Sue

Thanks guys for the 5 day info. It looks like something I an pull off. I loved the reference to "the sliders" . That's exactly the pitfall I've found. I realized that ice cream doesn't hurt so I've been overdosing on it. Even though I haven't gained any, I haven't lost either so I need something to kick start me again. Remember last year one of us had kept that really cool schedule of when we were going for our surgeries. We should do something like that again as a kinda "brag book" of what we accomplished on our bandaversery dates.

I loved the reference to "the sliders"

Laurie, Yes, that was exactly my problem too. Having it called slider food really put it into perspective for me. And the Ice Cream...I was starting to eat it most ever day! That is a absolute no no! We are really going to have to work hard for every pound now. This is where we are going to have to eat right. It won't always be easy, but I know that with each other we can do it. I made sure and eat a broiled chicken breast for lunch. It is hard to eat at first..but if I put my fork down between bites and give it time to go down. It usually does.

Blessings, Weazer

Tomorrow is my bandaversary! However, I am wondering if I should Celebrate (which would almost surely include an alcoholic beverage or two) or just treat it as a normal day and save the calories. Hmmmm....

I am so upset...........I have a very large family, 5 sisters and 2 brothers. A very busy mess at times. I have two sisters that I am very close to and we share alot, these two were the only ones I told about my surgery and asked them to keep it in confidance. One of them , Becky, had gastric bypass about 4 years ago, I appreciated her support and insite. We have talk all during the past year, we shared food tips, etc. I told her about the pictures my DH had taken of me during my progress and she asked to see them. I did email them to her and she liked them alot. I have not seen many of my family in almost a year, I was so looking forward to going home this summer and having them see the "NEW ME". Call it an ego thing........ Well I found out from one of my other sisters, that Becky, the sister I shared my surgery and pictures with (the one who swore she would tell no one and I trusted), has not only told everyone but emailed my pictures to everyone also. I am crushed, hurt and beyond mad. I am so upset I cannot even call her and chew her out. This was not hers to share, this was mine, my accomplishments. I called 3 of my other sisters for mohters day, and confirmed it, they have know about my surgery for a long time and have seen the pictures. One of them said " Whats the big secret, everyone knows".

Don't you just love family................I guess I have learned that when I want to keep something secret I will just have to keep it to myself.

Laura,

I am so sorry. I so relate. I know how crushed you must be. I have two sisters and a Mother. Sadly my Mother cannot keep a secret. I shared something very private with her just a couple of weeks ago. Really opened up my heart to her...she must have jumped on the phone the minute I left to share it with my other sisters. This happens all the time. It is a crushing feeling. I have finally got it through my thick head that I can't trust her. Makes me so sad. I'm very sorry that you have had to go through this. My youngest sister is the only one who knows about my surgery. She is so supportive. I would never tell my Mother or other sister because it would be told to everyone and brought up at every meal. I know your hurt and mad. Go ahead and let yourself experience those emotions..they are real. I never said a word to my Mother about finding out she shared my secret..I just chalked it up to her needing to feel important. She obviously has issues that she needs to be convicted of. Now I will know to never share something private again. lesson learned.

Weazer.

Yes my mom is the same way....I have 3 sisters and 2 brothers and we ALL know of her little "problem" we call it "telephone, television, tele-mama" so if we want something passed along (and quickly) we call mom! Since we are all aware of this, it hasn't been a problem, but I can see how it can hurt, i'm so sorry LauraP and Mini.

Laura, you must be feeling very betrayed and I don't blame you.

Maybe you should just simply let your sister know, "Now I know who I can trust" and leave it at that. Maybe it would make more of an impression than a lot of "discussion" about what happened.

As far as surprising your family, sure they would have been more surprised without seeing the pictures, but seeing you in person will bring 3 dimensions to it. In other words, it will still be a surprise of sorts.

I'm sorry your feelings are hurt. :-(

Thanks everyone...... the one good thing is the pictures were from December. I have lost and toned up more since then so they are out dated.

Losing my hair in clumps and still dealing with "stomach" issues from gallbladder removal surgery. On the positive side I'm doing better about meeting protein and water goals and taking my vitamins, so yay? 🤷‍♀️

I've hit a stall 9 months out. I'm not worried, though. My fitness levels continue to improve and I have nearly accomplished my pre-surgery goal of learning to scuba dive! One dive left to complete to get my PADI card 🐠
I was able to go for a 10K/6mile hike in the mountains two days ago just for the fun of it. In the before days, I might have attempted this, but it would have taken me 7 or 8 hours to complete and I would have been exhausted and in pain for the next two days. Taking my time with breaks for snacks and water, I was finished with my wee jaunt in only 4 hours 😎 and really got to enjoy photographing some insects, fungi, and turtles.

I have no clue where to upload this, so I'll put it here. This is pre-op vs the morning of my 6 month appointment! In office I weight 232, that's 88 lbs down since my highest weight, 75 lbs since my surgery weight! I can't believe this jacket fit... I am smaller now than the last time I was this size which the surgeon found really amusing. He's happy with where I am in my weight loss and estimates I'll be around 200 lbs by my 1 year anniversary! My lowest weight as an adult is 195, so that's pretty damn exciting to think I'll be near that at a year. Everything from there will be unknown territory!!
