I'm puzzled because I know I put this on here but I can't find it anywhere...anyway. I am May 11th, right along with buscove and mommytokk!! It's one week and a day from today!

How's everyone doing?

Hello All,

Well, it done. I was banded yesterday. It all went well, I guess. Doc found a hernia and repaired it. Shoulder pain was pretty bad yesterday, but this morning it is much better. Heating pad, gasX and walking. Surgery was at 10:00 AM, checked out of the hospital at 3:00 pm. Was about a 30 min drive to the house. Don't forget your pillows everyon, I sure made it alot more compy, and DH took it real slow. Slept most of the day after got home. Sipped Water and walked and slept. My DH is the greated nurse. He took today of as well, I am being spoiled. Good luck to everyone else, let us know how you are doing. I will post more later, took some pain med and it is time for another nap.

Congratts to all of those who have had and are soon having their band put in! i am going to finish my pre-op testing this morning. I am absolutely terrified of the liquid diet. I dont know why but that just seems like torture to me.

Hi everyone,

This is my first post and I have an appointment booked for a band 26th May in Southern Cyprus. I'm hoping to come back with a tan as well.

Thank you to the site for all the information I have found which has helped me make, what will hopefully be, the bigest choice of my life.

Jane:)

I see a lot of people talking about buying liquid tylonol. Are you talking about the kind they make for infants or do they actually make one for adults?

The Morning After Being Banded Slept Like A Baby Finally Around 11 Pm After Walking Some Gas Pains Off Slept On My Side And Back With No Problem Just Had To Be Careful When Rolling Over To Either Side A Little Sore But Not Bad. Still No Hunger Yet Must Be Still Pretty Swollen Inside Never Went This Long With Out Eating Something. For Me I Lifted Up My Shirt In Fornt Of A Mirror And They Shaved My Chest From My Pectoral Down To My Privates Looks Very Weird. Ugly Matter Of A Fact. But I Have Not Used Any Of Pain Medicines Yet A Got Adult Strength Liquid Tylenon How Ever You Spell It. Good Luck To All Later.

Hi Ragdollx19

Yes, there is an adult strength liquid Tylenol. I found it at Walgreens next to the cough Syrup. It says "Tylenol Extra Strength Adult Rapid Blast Liquid" on the label. I also bought the Tylenol Go-Tabs chewable tablets in case the cherry liquid is too gross.

Way to go Laura and Slackaction!!! It's so good to hear from both of you so soon. That is so inspiring for the rest of us to know how quickly you are up and typing already. Thanks for the pillow and liquid tylenol suggestions. I don't want to forget anything so keep the advice coming.

I'm thinking of all you May 3rd bandsters and praying that you are healing well and will sleep good tonight.

May 4th bandsters are doin it!!!! Be Strong!!! We are with you in spirit!

I need to get out of my house, away from the kitchen, so I don't have to think about all the food I'm not eating . . . . . I'm off to the internist appt. so see ya . . . . .

laura and slackaction -- wow you are inspiring!!! congrats. I just had my last doc. apt. yesterday. Surgeon agreed and was able to pre- obtain the updated AP band which will be released nationally at the bariatric conference next month in San Diego --- however getting nervous as he didn't have it from INAMED as of yesteday and surgery is tuesday.

I didn't want to appear concerned but pretty sure I did -- (sure hope he plans, at the very least, to look at it before sticking it in :omg:)

He was so calm, cool and collected ---- it really bugged me and then I reminded myself oh yah, that's why I choose him:clap2:

good luck to all of those on today and tomorrow -- we're on our way. I don't know about you guys but May is great month for this -- just think with summer right around the corner how good we'll all be feeling!!!!! :)

On day 4 of the 2 week liquid pre-op diet. Surgery scheduled for June 11th.
Soooo I am coming to a realization
of something and I'm not sure what to do about it. For years the only thing I've enjoyed is eating. We rarely do anything or go anywhere and if we do it always includes food. Family comes over? Big family dinner! Go camping? Food! Take a short ride or trip? Food! Holiday? Food! Go out of town for a Dr appointment? Food! When we go to a new town we don't look for any attractions, we look for restaurants we haven't been to. Heck, I look forward to getting off work because that means it's almost supper time. Now that I'm drinking these pre-op shakes for breakfast, lunch, and supper I have nothing to look forward to.  And once I have surgery on June 11th it'll be more of the same shakes. Even after pureed stage, soft food stage, and finally regular food stage, it's going to be a drastic change for the rest of my life. I'm giving up the one thing that really brings me joy. Eating. How do you cope with that? What do you do to fill that void? Wow. Now I'm sad.

Life as a big person had limited my life to what I knew I could manage to do each day. That was eat. I hadn't anything else to look forward to. So my eating choices were the best I could dream up. I planned the cooking in managable lots in my head and filled my day with and around it.

Now I have a whole new big, bigger, biggest, best days ever. I am out there with those skinny people doing stuff i could never have dreamt of. Food is now an after thought. It doesn't consume my day. I still enjoy the good home cooked food but I eat smaller portions. I leave food on my plate when I am full. I can no longer hear my mother's voice saying eat it all up, ther are starving children in Africa who would want that!

I still cook for family feasts, I love cooking. I still do holidays but I have changed from the All inclusive drinking and eating everything everyday kind to Self catering accommodation. This gives me the choice of cooking or eating out as I choose. I rarely drink anymore as I usually travel alone now and I feel I need to keep aware of my surroundings.

I don't know at what point my life expanded, was it when I lost 100 pounds? Was it when I left my walking stick at home ? Was it when I said yes to an outing instead of finding an excuse to stay home ? i look back at my last five years and wonder how loosing weight has made such a difference. Be ready to amaze yourself.

BTW, the liquid diet sucks, one more day and you are over the worst. You can do it.

Three months and four days ago... I was in Costa Rica having a life changing surgery! Yesterday we had a followup visit with Dr. Esmeral via video chat and this morning my middle number changed.  I'm down 47lbs and two pants sizes. I can wear a Large tshirt for the first time in like... 14 years! Woot!! Everything is going great. I have zero regrets. I went down to the riverwalk with a friend and walked 2 miles on Monday without even getting fatigued. And no more snoring or chugging pickle juice for crazy leg cramps! I need to go to the gym more... I'm making new shirts next week so that will motivate me. LOL But I'm also just not as TIRED all the time! I have a LONG way to go...but seeing the progress on the scales and in the mirror is a huge motivator!! Thank you all for cheering me on and supporting me!!
