That Chart is so COOL!

to answer a question a couple pages back.. I would say that my biggest complaint so far is that my son can't sit on my lap... we have this habbit to sit in the recliner together watching tv before he goes to bed..... tonight he just hugged my foot til i couldn't take it anymore and I put two pillows over my belly while he gently put his head on it... dbf was eyeballing him ready to get him down if he even squirmed...

The shoulder pain the first night was painful and when I get a gas bubble in my chest it is hard to get it to pass... other than that... it really hasn't been too hard....

I go back to work tomorrow...so that will be the true test.

Raysbabe,

So sorry to hear about your grandfather. This must be a stressfull time for you but I know you can do this. Just do the best you can, and remember: You deserve this chance for you. Good luck and keep us informed!

Thanks for the calendar. It seems kind of shocking to see my name on it. This is really happening. I'm scared to death but i'm just as excited as I am scared.

Well guys, I start my 10 day liquid diet tomorrow. I guess this is really happening! It's been a hectic week. Dad just had quadruple bypass surgery on Tuesday. He actually went home yesterday, and is doing great! Now I guess it's time to concentrate on the diet this week and surgery for lapband the following! Yipee!!

A list of all the reasons I would like to lose 100 lbs.

1. to be able to bend over and tie my shoes and breath at the same time

2. to lose my apron (if you know what I mean, say Amen)

3. to stop giving Lane Bryant so much money

4. to be active with my kids

5. to feel like being more "active" with my husband

6. to set a better example for my kids

7. to not always be the largest person in the room

8. so all of my pant will no longer have those lovely worn spots where my thighs rub

9. To wear a skirt and not get a rash on my thighs

10. to be able to cross my legs

11. to be able to pass by someone and not feel like my huge @ss is gonna knock them over

12. to wear "cute" undies again... shop at Victoria's Secret again!

Please feel free to add to the list! Thanks Melissa O! I know exactly what you mean.

13. so I don't have to suck my stomach in all the time.

14. So I won't have to constantly be re-arranging my clothes to make sure all of my lumps and bumps are covered appropriately.:rolleyes

The calender is great. I didn't realise until I saw it how many of us are going May 3rd. My Doc doesn't make you do a pre-op diet but after reading all the posts on here I put myself on one. The closer it gets to my date, the harder the diet gets. I know it is because I am an emotional eater and I'm getting nervous. I started a journal and every time I want to eat I go write instead. Is any one else struggeling with the pre -op?

Ok...Here I am going on 3rd week of 5 for pre-op diet. My surgery is May 21st with Dr. Ortiz in Tijuana, MX. I get rather bummed not being able to eat what I want to, but know it is for the best. I am supposed to lose as close to 36 lbs as possible by surgery. NOT FAIR!!!

Anywho, I wanted to be part of this board May band days. :)

Peace,

Judy

Well, I've finished day 7 of 14 for my pre-op. Next week is busy - pre op tests on Monday, have to go to Vegas for Tuesday-Wednesday, having a shed built on Thursday, pre op appointment on Thursday, concert on Friday, spending weekend getting caught up at work so I can be off for a week.

Worked in my garden yesterday - have got pain in my lower left abdomen... hoping it's just a pulled muscle!

My surgery date is May 4th. I'm very nervous. I've lost 11 pounds as of this morning, following the pre-op diet for 9 days now. Wish me luck. I'll write about it in my journal. I weigh 282.8 right now, and want to weigh 175 eventually. I hope this is the answer. I've been fat or fighting fat since I was 8 years old. I'm 46 now. That's a long time to be fat. This is my last hope.

On day 4 of the 2 week liquid pre-op diet. Surgery scheduled for June 11th.
Soooo I am coming to a realization
of something and I'm not sure what to do about it. For years the only thing I've enjoyed is eating. We rarely do anything or go anywhere and if we do it always includes food. Family comes over? Big family dinner! Go camping? Food! Take a short ride or trip? Food! Holiday? Food! Go out of town for a Dr appointment? Food! When we go to a new town we don't look for any attractions, we look for restaurants we haven't been to. Heck, I look forward to getting off work because that means it's almost supper time. Now that I'm drinking these pre-op shakes for breakfast, lunch, and supper I have nothing to look forward to.  And once I have surgery on June 11th it'll be more of the same shakes. Even after pureed stage, soft food stage, and finally regular food stage, it's going to be a drastic change for the rest of my life. I'm giving up the one thing that really brings me joy. Eating. How do you cope with that? What do you do to fill that void? Wow. Now I'm sad.

Life as a big person had limited my life to what I knew I could manage to do each day. That was eat. I hadn't anything else to look forward to. So my eating choices were the best I could dream up. I planned the cooking in managable lots in my head and filled my day with and around it.

Now I have a whole new big, bigger, biggest, best days ever. I am out there with those skinny people doing stuff i could never have dreamt of. Food is now an after thought. It doesn't consume my day. I still enjoy the good home cooked food but I eat smaller portions. I leave food on my plate when I am full. I can no longer hear my mother's voice saying eat it all up, ther are starving children in Africa who would want that!

I still cook for family feasts, I love cooking. I still do holidays but I have changed from the All inclusive drinking and eating everything everyday kind to Self catering accommodation. This gives me the choice of cooking or eating out as I choose. I rarely drink anymore as I usually travel alone now and I feel I need to keep aware of my surroundings.

I don't know at what point my life expanded, was it when I lost 100 pounds? Was it when I left my walking stick at home ? Was it when I said yes to an outing instead of finding an excuse to stay home ? i look back at my last five years and wonder how loosing weight has made such a difference. Be ready to amaze yourself.

BTW, the liquid diet sucks, one more day and you are over the worst. You can do it.

Three months and four days ago... I was in Costa Rica having a life changing surgery! Yesterday we had a followup visit with Dr. Esmeral via video chat and this morning my middle number changed.  I'm down 47lbs and two pants sizes. I can wear a Large tshirt for the first time in like... 14 years! Woot!! Everything is going great. I have zero regrets. I went down to the riverwalk with a friend and walked 2 miles on Monday without even getting fatigued. And no more snoring or chugging pickle juice for crazy leg cramps! I need to go to the gym more... I'm making new shirts next week so that will motivate me. LOL But I'm also just not as TIRED all the time! I have a LONG way to go...but seeing the progress on the scales and in the mirror is a huge motivator!! Thank you all for cheering me on and supporting me!!
