Liquid Vitamins

Recommended Posts

Yes, I took both packages and compared them, and the Flintstone Complete has more minerals etc. in them. I sure wanted to do the other ones, I use the Viactiv for Calcium and love them. I almost feel like I am cheating with a piece of candy. But, I'll keep my flintstones for the other Vitamin.< /p>

I've also read that taking children's Vitamins is better because molecularly they are structured to be better absorbed by childrens tiny digestive systems, so as adults we absorb those much more readily than we do adult vitamins. Children's chewables also takes into consideration the pickiness of child eaters, and loads up on those nutrients we can't get into our kids because they won't touch fish, liver, or lentils, etc... I take the flintstone complete version. I have also recently tried the viactiv, and they are pretty good tasting, very chewy candy like, no Vitamin taste what so ever.

the only thing I would be concerned about is how much Biotin is in the Vitamins. I understand that helps counteract the hairloss, or thinning. DO the Flintstones have Biotin? I take Centrum chewables, and they have it, but doesn't list the amount.

What about other meds? I crush them and have mixed it in yogurt, pudding, juice... and I swear I'm going to gag and vomit... As a matter of fact for three days I didn't take my 2 antidepressants and boy ... duh... I felt dizzy, sweaty, sick... my pharmasist had a fit!!! So... any tricks to how you take your meds.. they just are not meant to be smushed and taken that way... why can't we swallow them?

If you pills are no bigger in diameter than a pencil eraser then you can swallow them. I have been able to take capsules and tablets that are a little bigger than the eraser without problems. The MAIN thing to remember is to drink LOTS of Water with the pills. You don't want them dissolving in the pouch where they can do more damage. Get those suckers flushed through into the lower stomach where they won't do as much harm. DRINK LOTS OF WATER. At least 12 oz of liquid with the pills.

Regarding the flinstone Vitamins, are we as adults supposed to take one or two a day? I remember reading some pre-banding stuff that said take 2 childrens chewables a day. (I take liquid, but my daughter's getting banded & I know she would gag on the liquid.) Thanks,

I haven't really explored this yet but I just found that Viactiv, the company that has calcium chews now has Multivitamin chews as well. I tried the multi's and they taste really good. Just chew them up like the Calcium ones.

On the flinstone Vits I would assume to take two. BUt read the label and see what the ingredients and concentration is that should guide you.

Thanks Penni. It does say children 4 & older take one...that seems like an awfully big range. Also, it's just nagging at me that I heard somewhere that adults should take two. Oh well.

The Flintstones complete chewables say adults and children over 4 take one, and that's all I take, I hadn't heard the take 2 advice. Since many of the supplements listed are at 100% of the recommended daily allowance, I think I'll stick with one and save the cost. Also, these do have 40mcg of Biotin which is 13% of the RDA.

Flintstone's Complete Amount per Serving

% Daily Value for 2 - 3 years 1/2 Tablet % adults and children 4 and older. (1 tablet)

Vitamin A 3000 IU 60% 60%

Vitamin C 60 mg 75% 100%

Vitamin D 400 IU 50% 100%

Vitamin E 30 IU 150% 100%

Thiamin (B1) 1.5 mg 107% 100%

Riboflavin (B2) 1.7 mg 106% 100%

Niacin (B3) 15 mg 83% 75%

Vitamin B6 2 mg 143% 100%

Folate, Folic Acid, Folacin 400 mcg 100% 100%

Vitamin B12 6 mcg 100% 100%

Biotin 40 mcg 13% 13%

Pantothenic Acid 10 mg 100% 100%

I take the Flitstone Complete, and my doctor told me to take two daily. I compared the ingredients with the Viactiv and they have much more in the Flintstones so I stayed with them. I do take the Viactiv Calcium ones though.

Thanks for the post about liquid vitamins. I use Vitamist it's a spray that has no after taste, in fact the taste like mint. I love them just 8 sprays in the mouth and I'm ready to go for the day. You can get them from www.vitamist.com 1-888-848-0408 and they are $16.95 this is for a month supply. Hope this can help others.

Hi Everyone,

I bought the liquid Vitamin that is made by "The Vitamin Shoppe" ...orange creme flavor and it has no after taste. Actually it tastes good and has tuns of Vitamins. The difference between the one that is mentioned above is that IT contains herbs and the one that I bought does not. The cost on a large bottle was $20. If for some reason you do not like it they will take it back and give you a refund. My surgery is on June 8th so I thought it wise to start trying a few things now rather than after the surgery. Hope this is helpful to everyone.

Maria

On day 4 of the 2 week liquid pre-op diet. Surgery scheduled for June 11th.
Soooo I am coming to a realization
of something and I'm not sure what to do about it. For years the only thing I've enjoyed is eating. We rarely do anything or go anywhere and if we do it always includes food. Family comes over? Big family dinner! Go camping? Food! Take a short ride or trip? Food! Holiday? Food! Go out of town for a Dr appointment? Food! When we go to a new town we don't look for any attractions, we look for restaurants we haven't been to. Heck, I look forward to getting off work because that means it's almost supper time. Now that I'm drinking these pre-op shakes for breakfast, lunch, and supper I have nothing to look forward to.  And once I have surgery on June 11th it'll be more of the same shakes. Even after pureed stage, soft food stage, and finally regular food stage, it's going to be a drastic change for the rest of my life. I'm giving up the one thing that really brings me joy. Eating. How do you cope with that? What do you do to fill that void? Wow. Now I'm sad.

Life as a big person had limited my life to what I knew I could manage to do each day. That was eat. I hadn't anything else to look forward to. So my eating choices were the best I could dream up. I planned the cooking in managable lots in my head and filled my day with and around it.

Now I have a whole new big, bigger, biggest, best days ever. I am out there with those skinny people doing stuff i could never have dreamt of. Food is now an after thought. It doesn't consume my day. I still enjoy the good home cooked food but I eat smaller portions. I leave food on my plate when I am full. I can no longer hear my mother's voice saying eat it all up, ther are starving children in Africa who would want that!

I still cook for family feasts, I love cooking. I still do holidays but I have changed from the All inclusive drinking and eating everything everyday kind to Self catering accommodation. This gives me the choice of cooking or eating out as I choose. I rarely drink anymore as I usually travel alone now and I feel I need to keep aware of my surroundings.

I don't know at what point my life expanded, was it when I lost 100 pounds? Was it when I left my walking stick at home ? Was it when I said yes to an outing instead of finding an excuse to stay home ? i look back at my last five years and wonder how loosing weight has made such a difference. Be ready to amaze yourself.

BTW, the liquid diet sucks, one more day and you are over the worst. You can do it.

Three months and four days ago... I was in Costa Rica having a life changing surgery! Yesterday we had a followup visit with Dr. Esmeral via video chat and this morning my middle number changed.  I'm down 47lbs and two pants sizes. I can wear a Large tshirt for the first time in like... 14 years! Woot!! Everything is going great. I have zero regrets. I went down to the riverwalk with a friend and walked 2 miles on Monday without even getting fatigued. And no more snoring or chugging pickle juice for crazy leg cramps! I need to go to the gym more... I'm making new shirts next week so that will motivate me. LOL But I'm also just not as TIRED all the time! I have a LONG way to go...but seeing the progress on the scales and in the mirror is a huge motivator!! Thank you all for cheering me on and supporting me!!
