Went back to work today

Recommended Posts

Well, I had the band put in on Friday.. Made it through the weekend. I'm lucky that monday's are my short days, I teach until 10. I made it to work this morning by 7:30.. just drank hot tea. Didn't want to be farting in front of my students. The driving took a bit out of me. I need to keep a pillow in the car between me and the seatbelt. and Potholes suck. Aside from that I made it through 2 hours of class. I'm winded, and tired, but more from the driving to and from, than work itself. Not really in any pain, more discomfort than anything else. I slept great last night, only woke up once to pee and shift positions. Almost able to sleep on my side. Can hardly wait tell I can!

You are one brave girl. I took 6 days off from work and the first day back almost fell asleep at my desk about 2pm. Glad to hear you are doing so great.

I have been wondering how people feel when you go back to work. I have a desk job but do a lot of twisting and turning and running to grab this or that......My doctor says to plan to be off a week. I plan on scheduling it just as a 'vacation' so that I don't have too tell too many people what I am doing.

Anyway, hang in there Rebecca! You are doing great already!!

way to go Becca you are brave! I have a desk job and am going to take a week off. Mostly because I have a 30 minute commute 1 way so I want to stay closer to home.

The driving is the worse part. potholes hurt. I have about a 20 min drive. I teach so I can sit or stand , I normally stand.. The hardest part has been my voice. the anesthesia and intubation scratched it, so it comes and goes.

Hi. I was banded on a Friday and went back to work on the following Monday. I have a desk job and it was tough the first two days. I had terrible shoulder pain. Luckily, I have an office with a door and I was able close the door and lie down on my left side every so often and it helped with the pain.

Good luck to you!

Michelle

Hi everybody,

I recommend a pillow behind your back while driving or sitting at your desk. In my experience, I was very "protective" of my abdomen and by putting a pillow behind my back it helped me alleviate some of the back pressure and made it more comfortable all around.

I have a desk job, had surgery on a Monday and when I went back to work on Friday morning I had to leave after just a few short hours.... I should have known by just the amount of energy it took for me to take a shower and drive to work. It hurt too much for me to sit upright at the computer. by the following Monday most of the ache was gone, just had low energy.

All the best,

Karla

CONGRATS!

My surgery is scheduled for a Thursday and I'm going back to work on Monday. My boss has no clue, I just took it off as regular PTO.

Tracy, I had a Thursday surgery and went back on Monday. It was ok but I was pretty wiped by day's end. Each day gets a little better. Keep your mind open for the possibility of calling in sick on Monday because you don't really know how you'll feel. Also, be prepared to give up the pain medication before Sunday, if you are going to be driving and trying to work. That stuff just zones me out and makes me like a zombie. I don't know people can get addicted to that stuff.

I took a little stash of apple sauce, Jello, Protein powder, liquid tylenol, etc., and kept it at my desk. I also took a disposable heating pad to put on my abdomen, but didn't end up needing it.

I work a desk job so it hasn't been too tough.

I am leaving this job soon and they want to take me to lunch on Friday as a farewell gesture. ARGH! I don't know what to do about this, since I've kept my surgery under my hat!

I've been at work three days now.. granted my teaching schedule is in the morning only, and i rush home at noon and nap.. I'm still weak, and tire easy, but for the most part I'd say I'm at 85%. I couldn't go 8 hours that much I know.. Gotta have them naps:notagree

I have no clue where to upload this, so I'll put it here. This is pre-op vs the morning of my 6 month appointment! In office I weight 232, that's 88 lbs down since my highest weight, 75 lbs since my surgery weight! I can't believe this jacket fit... I am smaller now than the last time I was this size which the surgeon found really amusing. He's happy with where I am in my weight loss and estimates I'll be around 200 lbs by my 1 year anniversary! My lowest weight as an adult is 195, so that's pretty damn exciting to think I'll be near that at a year. Everything from there will be unknown territory!!

I changed my profile image to a molecule of protein. Why? Because I am certain that it saved my life.

That's brilliant! You've done amazing!! I should probably think about changing my profile picture at some point. Mine is the doll from Squid Games. Ironically the whole premise of the show is about dodging death. We've both done that...

Two years out. Lost 120 , regained 5 lbs. Recently has a bout of Norovirus, lost 7 pounds in two days. Now my stomach feels like it did right after my surgery. Sore, sensitive to even water.  Anyone out there have a similar experience?

Am I the only struggling to get weight down. I started with weight of 297 and now im 280 but seem to not lose more weight. My nutrtionist told me not to worry about the pounds because I might still be losing inches. However, I do not really see much of a difference is this happen to any of you, if so any tips?
      Thanks
