Is there anyone that is or has advanced their diet faster than what your Dr or nutritionist told you? I have tried a few things (saltines, eggs, Tomato Soup...) and I have felt fine. I feel when I am full so I don't overdo it but I think they are taking this all clear liquid diet too far. I had 2 weeks prior to surgery, and for 3 1/2 weeks after (I still have until my next appointment on the 20th for them to move me to other food). Did anyone else do this and how did you feel afterwards? Thanks!

Funny how we just don't seem to be able to follow instructions. I know exactly what you mean. I would blend some stuff and when it left chunks in the blend, I would just say..."Oh well, that's close enough". Besides, chewing is sorta blending, right?! And how are we gonna know if we don't try. I mean, others didn't have to wait two weeks, so what can it hurt. Just a small taste. Hmmmm. no reaction. Good enough for me.......time to move on to next stage.

Maybe not the best reasoning, but I'm sure alot of us do it anyway. Hopefully the docs have a fudge factor built in to their recommendations. :P

I was on a clear liquid diet 1 wk after surgery. After the post op class I am now allowed to eat beef, pork or lamb for 2 mo's. No salads, Pasta, bread or raw vegetables. I can have all fruit (big ones skin peeled off) soft vegs, chicken, turkey, fish, Beans etc. I am 3 wks out today and feel good. Every Dr has their own plan for eating. I'm glad mine is not as restrictive as some.

Good luck on your weight loss journey.

I'll be able to have salads and everything but not for a few months. The Dr wants the stomach to heal completely.

I've just listened to my gut. I asked my Doc if I could do that and he said yes. I think you'll know what you can't handle- and I'm assuming you aren't going to go crazy and start eating food that is a few months out. I've been fine- I'm on week 3 & eating eggs, tuna, few bites of a burger,

oatmeal and Cereal. I get full fast so even if I'm thinking of eating a lot, I just can't. Hope that helps ! Good luck!!! :)

The temptation is so real right now and I am barely 2 weeks post op. What are the dangers of advancing diet? I'm too chicken but any vets want to weigh in on this?

Just remember, that at 2-3 weeks out, your body is still healing. Those rules are set in place for a reason and would recommended that you stick with them.

I am about 5 weeks out, and many times I have been tempted to advance my food stage, time goes by fast and you'll have the rest of your life to eat what you want. In my opinion, just stick to the dr's orders and you'll be fine

I advanced mine faster than I was supposed to. My team wasn't even willing to entertain the notion of moving ahead even a couple of days early, so I said fudge it. My place treats you the same no matter what, but we're individuals.

I know the temptations are powerful! at 10 days out, I tried some cottage cheese. It was a mistake, and went right through me. Since that episode, I've stuck with the plan. Your stomach needs time to heal. With that said, if you *do* choose to try something more advanced, be careful, take is slow and really listen to what your body is telling you.

Be well...

I went from liquid to puréed stage two days early because I did not want to start the new stage on my first day back to work. I had no problems but it sure has made this yucky puréed stage long and drawn out. I may have to go to the next stage a day or two early.

Losing my hair in clumps and still dealing with "stomach" issues from gallbladder removal surgery. On the positive side I'm doing better about meeting protein and water goals and taking my vitamins, so yay? 🤷‍♀️

I've hit a stall 9 months out. I'm not worried, though. My fitness levels continue to improve and I have nearly accomplished my pre-surgery goal of learning to scuba dive! One dive left to complete to get my PADI card 🐠
I was able to go for a 10K/6mile hike in the mountains two days ago just for the fun of it. In the before days, I might have attempted this, but it would have taken me 7 or 8 hours to complete and I would have been exhausted and in pain for the next two days. Taking my time with breaks for snacks and water, I was finished with my wee jaunt in only 4 hours 😎 and really got to enjoy photographing some insects, fungi, and turtles.
