Stretching by fluids

Recommended Posts

I was curious, I am a major Fluid drinker. I get all my fluids in everyday and even then some. My question is can drinking too much fluids stretch your belly like over-eating can?

I am 5 months out.

My dr explained it to me like a funnel... So if you are drinking on an empty stomach between meals like you are supposed to then not likely... However if you eat something you are blocking the "funnel" therefore if you drink something then the liquid isn't going to pass through and could stretch your pouch.

This is EXACTLY how my doctor explained it, too!

Yup, my doctor said the same thing. And added that it's best if you spread your 64oz Fluid intake over the day - sip, sip, sip. Drinking too much too fast can be problematic. Great job getting your fluids in!! It's very important and many (including myself) struggle with it.

One of my things that I am having a hard time with is not drinking when I am eating. How did you all not do this. I grew up always drinking with my meals. I dont want to strech out my pouch. Any Ideas would be great.

Thanks

I thought I was really going to struggle with this as I've always had a glass of Water with meals but it's been fine. I've not eaten out yet though I guess that would be more difficult. I just keep an eye on the time and have a drink as soon as I'm allowed afterwards. Decaf tea is my new treat and so far I'm not missing cappuccinos at all which I'm amazed at! It's good to remember that these rules are there for a reason and the results make it all worthwhile :-)

This is the best video I've ever seen explaining the importance of not drinking when you're eating or for at least 30 minutes after. In the beginning everyone struggles with it but as you'll see, it's quite important to develop the habit.

Awesome demonstration! We all know WHAT to do but this gives a perfect visual on the WHY we should do it. :-)

I have no clue where to upload this, so I'll put it here. This is pre-op vs the morning of my 6 month appointment! In office I weight 232, that's 88 lbs down since my highest weight, 75 lbs since my surgery weight! I can't believe this jacket fit... I am smaller now than the last time I was this size which the surgeon found really amusing. He's happy with where I am in my weight loss and estimates I'll be around 200 lbs by my 1 year anniversary! My lowest weight as an adult is 195, so that's pretty damn exciting to think I'll be near that at a year. Everything from there will be unknown territory!!

I changed my profile image to a molecule of protein. Why? Because I am certain that it saved my life.

Two years out. Lost 120 , regained 5 lbs. Recently has a bout of Norovirus, lost 7 pounds in two days. Now my stomach feels like it did right after my surgery. Sore, sensitive to even water.  Anyone out there have a similar experience?

      April Surgery
Am I the only struggling to get weight down. I started with weight of 297 and now im 280 but seem to not lose more weight. My nutrtionist told me not to worry about the pounds because I might still be losing inches. However, I do not really see much of a difference is this happen to any of you, if so any tips?
      Thanks

Well recovering from gallbladder removal was a lot like recovering from the modified duodenal switch surgery, twice in 4 months yay 🥳😭. I'm having to battle cravings for everything i shouldn't have, on top of trying to figure out what happens after i eat something. Sigh, let me fast forward a couple of months when everyday isn't a constant battle and i can function like a normal person again! 😞
