It seems to be two things

1 our basal metabolic rate has dropped because of our calorie restriction

2 we have a lot less insulation

Good news - trying to warm up burns calories!

Freezing as I sit with a fleece blanket and space heater blowing on me. Brrr.

Very glad to know I'm not the only one. Thank you all for your replies! I work for an AC Company and the joke in the office is I've lost my R value (insulation). lol!

Truck8595 - I've also found I don't sweat anywhere near as much as I used to. I actually LIKE getting into the car after it's been baking in the sun all day.

Cold for first time in my life! I was always the hot fat chick so it's all new to me. Everyone I know thinks it's weird but just another change that comes with this surgery. I will take a little cold :)

I had to get daily injections to thin my blood for one month after surgery. Was having hot flashes and night sweats. Not any more! I used to freeze the rest of family. Not anymore! Glad I'm not the only one.

CAN NOT WAIT to be cold. And not sweaty and fat. :-) it's the worst and pit spots. I work in surgery and feel sweaty often. Will totally enjoy being cold :-)))))) good side effect for this chub that is always hot. Yay! Surgery date early may.

I just read on pintrist that putting pantiliner on your shirt where your pits are will prevent pit stains. I remember as a sweaty fat girl leaving a sweaty butt mark on the metal chairs in school. Really could have used pintrist then. God I hate being fat.

When I first saw this thread a week or two ago, I thought you all must be exaggerating....it's winter, after all. Well, ho hum, I now keep the heat 3* higher than I used to while layering sweat pants, sweatshirts, thick socks and blankets! And, I'm 231, so certainly not thin. I wonder if this is just part if the losing phase or if it lasts. Stay warm, everyone! ;)

Wow, I can hardly believe I am posting about being cold. I am only 6 days post op and I am mostly cold. I am having some problems with hot flashes but at 56 I think it might take me a bit to recover from surgery. I usually wore only a light jacket all winter. Now I have a heavy sweater on all the time.

Two months out from hiatal hernia repair.  Surgeon said to expect a lot more flatulence...something about the 'air' no longer being able to 'burp' out so comes out the other end.  That is my experience but have no understanding of why that swallowed air cannot be 'burped'. ???

As I understand it since your stomach is smaller and not completely resting against your diaphragm anymore you no longer have the ability to "push" burps out as well. Plus, since its smaller and we don't digest slower the trapped air moves a lot quicker out of the stomach so its no longer available to burp out. Hence the other option for removal.

Anyone had the TORe procedure? How did it go? How much weight did you loose?

Me too girl!! Are you in the full liquid diet right now? It’s sooooo hard!

      2. LadyVeteran1

Not yet. I was told I only have to do 24 hours of a liquid diet. But I have my pre-op tomorrow so I’m going to confirm if I need to do longer.

Your so close now! It's gonna be great :) Wishing you a speedy recovery and looking forward to seeing how it goes!

Down 33 lbs and slightly stalled, but I'm gonna reevaluate and push through. I started back to work last week after 2 years of being disabled due to mental health as well as my weight. It's a great job and I'm just so happy to have this opportunity at a second chance at life. Hope everyone is having their best journey ❤️ Together, we got this!
