Were is all my Chattanoogians at?

Recommended Posts

I'm back.

Just got my fifth fill last Tuesday and it seems to be close to where I need to be. I'm losing slowly (about 3 pounds over the last six weeks) but I'm not nearly as hungry now and I can't eat as much, so I hope that will improve.

For Vitamins I'm taking OneSource Active Kids Complete chewables and Spring Valley Caramel Calcium Chews (from WalMart).

My wife and I have been walking alot. We are going on vacation in a couple of weeks, so hopefully we can walk on the beach while we're gone.

:bored :bored :bored well well I guess this site has nobody from the chatt. area and let me also guess that no body has been banded at memorial hos. by dr. fromm-paynter-or Ponce? ? Geez I sure feel like the lonesome stud here lol.

Hi Chris, I was not banded locally but was unbanded at Memorial by Dr. Sass, because I have crazy insurance:cursing: which will not pay for rebanding at Memorial, I went back to Mx and was rebanded (self-pay) June 18, 2009, and also had a load of plastic surgery while there. I am at home busy recouperating mostly from the plastic, the rebanding was a breeze. I am usually in chat on this site, but for some reason i haven't been able to get in lately, so I am exploring the message boards.

Feel free to pm me.

Hi Corliss! You should visit us more often. If you don't mind my asking, why did you have to have your band removed?

Hi slim-n-tn, I have been in a few times but seems like there wasn't ever any recent posts when I came in, but found some today. I had to have my band removed after almost three years and after loosing to goal due to a slip which was probably due to a hiatal hernia. :frown:I really wanted to be one of those folk who didn't regain their wt. after loosing the band but I was not. I gained 60 of the 203 which I had lost in the 10 months which I was without band. I am so glad to have a new one, I loved the first one till I started having major problems. I am very greatful to have been able to lose the wt and keep off what I did.

Day of 1st banding 356 lbs

still not great but better. i am trying to drink some hot cocoa in the mornings to help loosen and soothe my band. still on sort of a soft diet. misery hasnt left yet.

i am sad to find out that icee's are carbonated. that took the wind out of my sails. i only discovered this from unwrapped on food network. blast it all!

i am still not sure that i dont need another unfill but i am trying to wait for 2 weeks seeing as my situation isnt as dire as it once was. i would have been in the hospital over the weekend if i hadnt gotten Fluid taken out on thursday.

To exacerbate my suffering, i am craving a big crusty sandwich  which i know i could never eat even a bite of. drats.

Slush Puppies are not carbonated, but remember to count the calories.

I am glad that you were able to get a new band. I do believe I would be one of those people that would gain if I ever lost my band. I am glad that you are doing well after rebanding. There are about 4 of us that post in this thread on a fairly regular basis. Drop in anytime!

Hey, I was going to ask 'what is up with downsdc?' but you took care of it for me. I got a fill last Tuesday and Dr. Ponce said I would definately feel this one. I was skeptical and for the first couple to three days I was not feeling much help, but it has gotten better. It still does not feel like what I expect it to feel, but I am back to eating less and not getting hungry too bad between meals.

I keep thinking I am going to get an adjustment and then bam, my worries about food and hunger will be over. I wonder if that will ever happen?

I'm sick as well. I think there is a stomach virus going around. I haven't been able to keep much down. Hopefully it will pass for both of us soon.

On day 4 of the 2 week liquid pre-op diet. Surgery scheduled for June 11th.
Soooo I am coming to a realization
of something and I'm not sure what to do about it. For years the only thing I've enjoyed is eating. We rarely do anything or go anywhere and if we do it always includes food. Family comes over? Big family dinner! Go camping? Food! Take a short ride or trip? Food! Holiday? Food! Go out of town for a Dr appointment? Food! When we go to a new town we don't look for any attractions, we look for restaurants we haven't been to. Heck, I look forward to getting off work because that means it's almost supper time. Now that I'm drinking these pre-op shakes for breakfast, lunch, and supper I have nothing to look forward to.  And once I have surgery on June 11th it'll be more of the same shakes. Even after pureed stage, soft food stage, and finally regular food stage, it's going to be a drastic change for the rest of my life. I'm giving up the one thing that really brings me joy. Eating. How do you cope with that? What do you do to fill that void? Wow. Now I'm sad.

Life as a big person had limited my life to what I knew I could manage to do each day. That was eat. I hadn't anything else to look forward to. So my eating choices were the best I could dream up. I planned the cooking in managable lots in my head and filled my day with and around it.

Now I have a whole new big, bigger, biggest, best days ever. I am out there with those skinny people doing stuff i could never have dreamt of. Food is now an after thought. It doesn't consume my day. I still enjoy the good home cooked food but I eat smaller portions. I leave food on my plate when I am full. I can no longer hear my mother's voice saying eat it all up, ther are starving children in Africa who would want that!

I still cook for family feasts, I love cooking. I still do holidays but I have changed from the All inclusive drinking and eating everything everyday kind to Self catering accommodation. This gives me the choice of cooking or eating out as I choose. I rarely drink anymore as I usually travel alone now and I feel I need to keep aware of my surroundings.

I don't know at what point my life expanded, was it when I lost 100 pounds? Was it when I left my walking stick at home ? Was it when I said yes to an outing instead of finding an excuse to stay home ? i look back at my last five years and wonder how loosing weight has made such a difference. Be ready to amaze yourself.

BTW, the liquid diet sucks, one more day and you are over the worst. You can do it.

Three months and four days ago... I was in Costa Rica having a life changing surgery! Yesterday we had a followup visit with Dr. Esmeral via video chat and this morning my middle number changed.  I'm down 47lbs and two pants sizes. I can wear a Large tshirt for the first time in like... 14 years! Woot!! Everything is going great. I have zero regrets. I went down to the riverwalk with a friend and walked 2 miles on Monday without even getting fatigued. And no more snoring or chugging pickle juice for crazy leg cramps! I need to go to the gym more... I'm making new shirts next week so that will motivate me. LOL But I'm also just not as TIRED all the time! I have a LONG way to go...but seeing the progress on the scales and in the mirror is a huge motivator!! Thank you all for cheering me on and supporting me!!
