Julie, I have a 10 cc band. My protocol is liquids only on day of fill, mushies the day after fill day, then on to regular diet. I lost 7 pounds this past month. Keep in mind, I only weigh at the doctor's office once a month ( I can't stand those daily fluctuations with the scale, so I decided a year ago to quit weighing, except once a month). My doc said that after about the fourth fill, they just start "tweaking" the band with smaller and smaller fills. They always ask me how many weeks did the last fill feel like it was working..... I think that's bc the band does adjust/change over time.... What might be too much of a fill might "settle" in over time .... I'm not sure about that last statement, but I believe that's what they are getting at. Glad you're feeling like getting BACK ON TRACK. How's that whole snacking on junkie food going this week?

Hi there, well... I've made my appointment.. I go next Tuesday.. Quite excited now... I emailed Belgium and they are in Manchester next week so I'm going, I don't think I need much but it can only benefit... So far this week I've been good on the no snacking and treats, I've had two Protein Shakes today and going to have some bolagnaise for my dinner.. I have a busy week this week as I'm busy cake making.. As well as my full time job I have small cake decorating business... Not the thing to do when you have weight problems lol... Luckily sweet things don't bother me too much.. My band is quite a big one then if yours is 10cl, when I had mine done it was a new one out .. But it seems I need quite a lot in it. I think there are quite a few different ones. I think I have about 10cl in mine already xx

Julie, I was just thinking about you. Yes, this last fill has so far helped me hit that SWEET SPOT. I thought it was funny how you are a cake decorator. You and I have in common the fact that SWEETS is not our downfall. Mine was carbohydrates.... bread and PASTA.... Urgh!!!!

Don't get me wrong, I like buttercream icing too. I can't wait to hear back from you after you have your next appointment on Tuesday. How's the exercise and not snacking going? Let me know!

Hi Tammie,

Sorry for the late reply, it's been a really busy week so far, my weekend was good thank you... And no snacking.. We have been out for lots of walks, even went to chose and buy a new bike.. Now spring is on it's way it's time to get outside.

I went for my full yesterday, only had 0.5ml in but can definitely tell the difference, even though I have been on fluids today.

I seem to have my head in gear at the moment.. I just don't want to fall down.. I have consciously cut down my portion sizes, and if I have oatmeal for Breakfast I leave some if it's taking me too long to eat, a bowl of oatmeal can last me all morning.. Which in the long run stops me snacking on anything else.. Even eating a banana, a couple of bites and I'm done... It's all definitely in my head and been eating the things that go down like crackers/ crisps (potato chips)/ chocolate.. I just have to cut those out, eat smaller portions and exercise.

How are you doing? How has your band fill been?

Julie xx

Hi Julie,

It seems Luke you are getting your head back on the journey. I hope y'all are experiencing the beautiful weather we are now experiencing. Makes you want to be outside and alive. How are things going since your last fill? Glad to see that you've reigned in on that snacking. Keep me posted about your weight losses if you choose to. Know that I've been thinking about you and hoping my new buddy across the BIG POND is doing well!

Hi Tammie,

Thanks for the message, it's been a busy day here, all the temptations of baking.. I haven't had any though! I'm busy baking for a fair at the weekend. The weather here today is pretty grim, very windy and it keeps raining.. We had lovely weather last weekend but we are having a cold spell now. I live near York which is in north of the Uk. Where across the pond are you? I hope you are doing well and staying focused also.

Julie xx

I live in New Orleans, Louisiana (the southern part of the U. S., near the Gulf of Mexico. We are experiencing beautiful spring weather, with temps in the mid 70's. I am vamping up my exercise and making it to the gym six days a week. I have made myself a priority this year, and I am reaping the benefits of doing so. My last fill put me in the Green zone, so I am doing well with the food and just trying to enjoy my life day by day. I've been shopping and buying new pieces of clothes as I am going to New YORK with two girlfriends in April, after Easter. My oldest daughter will be joining us for that trip. She is a nurse at a hospital in Baltimore, Maryland. She's been to Europe (and so has my second daughter), but I have not. It is on the bucket list though. Glad to see you're back in the journey. Keep in touch! Tammie

Hi there,

I am so sorry I haven't been in touch, I have had the maddest week at work and also full of cold, so far I have lost 7lb so far since my fill so feeling much better, I've also been trying to keep moving, I did a long walk today with my pups, they are worn out as well as me hehehe...

So what have you been doing this week?

Thank you for sharing where you live in the USA, we visit the USA quite a lot, even got married there. We have friends in Minnesota which we try and visit every few years and also I'm a massive Disney fan so we go to Disney world quite a lot.. Our next trip is in September... I haven't been to disney since I had my band fill so I'm quite anxious about all the food.. I'm hoping they will let me have child portions.. There is an awful lot of food there!! But I'm very excited about going again.. I'm such a child at heart.. I hope your having a lovely weekend xxx

Julie, Glad to see that you are getting back on track..... SEVEN pounds....WHOO WHOO !!!! I'm also a Disney lover. Out family vacation this June will include four days at Disney. We are bringing our "kids" (ages 24, 22, 19, and 14..... Not really KIDS, but kids at heart, too). My husband, who has lost 55 pounds (NOT KILOS) this year and I who will be 120+ pounds lighter than we were last time we trudged through the parks, are so looking forward to the Disney experience once again! Keep up the good work and if you haven't hit that Green Zone yet, I'd suggest you schedule another fill appointment..... I mean, get that band working to its full potential. Hope you can stay in touch.

Tammie

Hey Julie. Just checking in to see how you're doing this week. Everything is fine on this end. Went back to my doctor on Tuesdsy for my monthly appointment. I had a nice weight-loss this month, 9 pounds. I decided not to ask for any adjustments on the fills. We haven't made arrangements for Disney World yet. Since I need two rooms, I'm thinking we may need to stay at one of the All-Star resorts. My husband's youngest sister lives In Orlando, so we can always stay at her house as well. We want to go to St. Augustine, Florida and will also spend a day or two in Destin, Florida. I have two favorite parks----- Magic Kingdom and Epcot. Hope all is going well with you and that your mind is back in the game! Best wishes! Tammie

I am new here today... and only two weeks out from my sleeve surgery on the 23rd. I am amazed I have kept my calories down to 467 today so far... that leaves me almost 750 left for dinner and maybe a snack. This is going to be tough for two weeks... but I have to believe I can do it!

Hey everyone. I'm new here so I thought I should introduce myself. I am 53y/o and am scheduled for Gastric Bypass on June 25th, 2025. I'm located in San Antonio, Texas. I will be having my surgery in Tiajuana Mexico. I've wanted this for years, but I always had insurance where bariatric procedures were excluded. Finally I am able to afford to pay out of pocket.  I can't wait to get started, and I hope I'm prepared for the initial period of "hell". I know what I have signed up for, but I'm sure the good to come will out way the temporary period of discomfort and feelings of regret. I'd love to find people to talk to who have been through the same procedure or experience before. So I look forward to meeting you all. Hope you have a great week!

I'm so happy for you! You are about to change your life. I was so glad to get the sleeve done in Dec. I didn't have feelings of regret overall. And I'm down almost 60 lbs. I do feel a little sad at restaurants. I can barely eat half a kid's meal. I get adults meals often because kid ones don't have the same offerings at times. Then I feel obligated to eat on that until it's gone and that can be days. So the restaurant thing isn't great for me. All the rest is fine by me! I love feeling full with very little. I do wish I could drink when eating. And will sip at the end. Just a strong habit to stop. But I'm working on it! You will do fine! Just keep focused on your desire to be different. Not better or worse. But different. I am happy both ways but my low back doesn't like me that heavy. So I listened (also my feet!). LOL! Update us on your journey! I'm not far from you. I'm in Houston. Good luck and I hope it all goes smoothly! Would love to see pics of the town you go to for this. I've never been there. Neat you will be traveling for this! Enjoy the journey. Take it one day at a time. Sometimes a few hours at a time. Follow all recommendations as best you can. 💗

Thank you so much for your well wishes. I am hoping that everything goes easy for me as well. We don't eat out much as it is, so it wont be too bad in that department. Thankfully. Also, I hear you regarding your back and feet!! I'd like to add knees to the list. Killing me as we speak! I'm only 5' so the weight has to go. Too short to carry all this weight. Menopause really did a doosey on me. (😶lol) My daughter also lives in Houston. with her Husband and my 5 grand-littles. I grew up in Beaumont, so I know Houston well, I will be sure to keep in touch and update you on my journey. I may need some advice in the future, or just motivation. Thank You so much for reaching out, I was hoping to connect with someone in the community. I really appreciate it. 💜

On day 4 of the 2 week liquid pre-op diet. Surgery scheduled for June 11th.
Soooo I am coming to a realization
of something and I'm not sure what to do about it. For years the only thing I've enjoyed is eating. We rarely do anything or go anywhere and if we do it always includes food. Family comes over? Big family dinner! Go camping? Food! Take a short ride or trip? Food! Holiday? Food! Go out of town for a Dr appointment? Food! When we go to a new town we don't look for any attractions, we look for restaurants we haven't been to. Heck, I look forward to getting off work because that means it's almost supper time. Now that I'm drinking these pre-op shakes for breakfast, lunch, and supper I have nothing to look forward to.  And once I have surgery on June 11th it'll be more of the same shakes. Even after pureed stage, soft food stage, and finally regular food stage, it's going to be a drastic change for the rest of my life. I'm giving up the one thing that really brings me joy. Eating. How do you cope with that? What do you do to fill that void? Wow. Now I'm sad.

I hope your surgery on Wednesday goes well. You will be able to do all sorts of new things as you find your new normal after surgery. I don't know this from experience yet, but I am seeing a lot of positive things from people who have had it done. Best of luck!

Life as a big person had limited my life to what I knew I could manage to do each day. That was eat. I hadn't anything else to look forward to. So my eating choices were the best I could dream up. I planned the cooking in managable lots in my head and filled my day with and around it.

Now I have a whole new big, bigger, biggest, best days ever. I am out there with those skinny people doing stuff i could never have dreamt of. Food is now an after thought. It doesn't consume my day. I still enjoy the good home cooked food but I eat smaller portions. I leave food on my plate when I am full. I can no longer hear my mother's voice saying eat it all up, ther are starving children in Africa who would want that!

I still cook for family feasts, I love cooking. I still do holidays but I have changed from the All inclusive drinking and eating everything everyday kind to Self catering accommodation. This gives me the choice of cooking or eating out as I choose. I rarely drink anymore as I usually travel alone now and I feel I need to keep aware of my surroundings.

I don't know at what point my life expanded, was it when I lost 100 pounds? Was it when I left my walking stick at home ? Was it when I said yes to an outing instead of finding an excuse to stay home ? i look back at my last five years and wonder how loosing weight has made such a difference. Be ready to amaze yourself.

BTW, the liquid diet sucks, one more day and you are over the worst. You can do it.
