At the sleep study center all hooked up and feeling like an alien! Lol

Here's hoping I don't have sleep apnea!

Hope all goes well for you. I have my sleep study tomorrow night, and also hoping for no apnea either. :)

The way they have you hooked up to all those machines how in the world would you not have sleep problems. When they did my sleep study they said I had zero minutes of REM sleep the entire night. I remember that night as being quite miserable. At first I didn't like the idea of using a C-PAP machine but at this point I don't want to sleep without it (or I can't sleep without it). It has given me much better quality of sleep and has actually helped in improving my overall health since I've had it going on a year and 3 months of use.

I had a sleep study done last night too, I'm tired today, didn't get much sleep. It was hard to sleep with all the equipment and it wasn't my bed, or my pillow and they made me sleep on my back, when I always sleep on a side or a belly.

I'm a side/belly sleeper as well!

The verdict is in.....sleep apnea. :-( I had over 22- 10 second episodes in an hour which is criteria I guess. The doctor said that after they put the CPAP machine on during the night that I had very few episodes and actually went into deep dream sleep. However, I have to say that the CPAP mask they used for me made me a bit claustrophobic!

Got fitted with a different kind of mask and am using a machine that releases variable amounts of air as needed. The mask is very comfortable and less intrusive feeling. So......I guess tonight starts my nights of using this contraption!

Here's hoping I won't need it after surgery. Doctor said greater than 50% chance that after I lose the weight it will resolve on it's own.

I had surgery on Friday and so far so good. Most of my pain at the moment are in the six spots where the incisions were made. I have been trying to go longer and longer without pain meds, mostly taking them before I go to bed. I may actually go and log-in to get some work done so I do not burn up any more vacation time. Getting up and walking around the hospital made the process of dealing with the pain a little easier. There are certain ways if you move will feel really bad so I learned the best way to get out of bed and do other things.

At this point, now that the pain is subsiding I am trying to figure out how to eat again. I used to guzzle and gulp Water, juice and soda all day long, now I can only sip and do my best to limit how much I drink at one time otherwise I get air bubbles that inflict instant punishment. I think I am catching on and on my way.

I agree with CubsWin on CPAP. I even went as far as having a UPP so I did not have to use the machine. Guess what- that was the most painful surgery and I still had sleep apnea. Now I can't imagine sleeping without it. No more waking up with headaches. I am even planning on bringing it to the hospital with me.

CubsWin- best of luck with your recovery. I am not scheduled for surgery until mid May.

I've hit a stall 9 months out. I'm not worried, though. My fitness levels continue to improve and I have nearly accomplished my pre-surgery goal of learning to scuba dive! One dive left to complete to get my PADI card 🐠
I was able to go for a 10K/6mile hike in the mountains two days ago just for the fun of it. In the before days, I might have attempted this, but it would have taken me 7 or 8 hours to complete and I would have been exhausted and in pain for the next two days. Taking my time with breaks for snacks and water, I was finished with my wee jaunt in only 4 hours 😎 and really got to enjoy photographing some insects, fungi, and turtles.
Just for fun last week, I ran two 5Ks in two days, something I would have never done in the past! Next goal is a 10K before the end of this month.

Hi everyone, I wrote back in May about having no strength. I still get totally exhausted just walking from room to room, it’s so bad I’m using a walker with wheels of all things. I had the gastric sleeve Jan. 24th. I’m doing exactly what the programs says, except protein shakes. I have different meats and protein bars daily, including vitamins daily. I do drink my fluids as well.  I go in for IV hydration 4 days a week and feel ok just til evening.  So far as of Jan 1st I’ve dropped 76 lbs. I just want to enjoy the weight lose. Any suggestions or has anyone else gone thru this??  Doctor says just increase calorie intake, still the same.

Losing my hair in clumps and still dealing with "stomach" issues from gallbladder removal surgery. On the positive side I'm doing better about meeting protein and water goals and taking my vitamins, so yay? 🤷‍♀️
