Is it normal or possible to feel the hunger pain just a few days out of the hospital?

I'm sitting at work and I've got this hungry feeling. Its different from the usual tummy gurgling that's been going on inside of me lately.

Tomorrow will be day 5 since leaving the hospital. Is it too soon to digest a thicker Soup? Or like a custard (sugar-free) of course, or like cerelac?

The thing about starting out with liquids in amounts your surgeon recommends is so your incision line can heal. It's not only for weight loss. You have to treat it gently so there won't be any leaks or bleeding. Overeating or putting solids in there too soon could lead to a whole lot of pain & misery.

The sensation you are feeling will eventually pass.

What helped me more than anything was heated, clear chicken broth, the homemade kind.

Wonderful that you are already back to work. Good way to help be distracted & maybe not focus completely on food.

Warm chicken broth worked for me too! It not only tasted good, it felt good!

I also drank a lot of warm (body-temp) chicken broth. I added a little garlic, usually. I'd just sip a big mug of it like tea!

Also, sugar-free Jello. Guess what, it's protein! If you're making it yourself make it firmer - use about 2/3 of the Water instead of all the Water it calls for, and it'll set up firm. It IS actually kind of filling.

I also felt hungry pretty soon out of surgery, and by 10 days I was ready to take a huge bite out of ANYTHING, and thinking about making and taking a bite of a turkey sandwich was practically pornographic. (Imagine spreading mayo on the bread, while a deep male voice is saying, "ohh YEAAAHHH." That was my brain.)

Hang in there, you aren't doing anything wrong!!

Oh I also would add a scoop of whey Protein to Decaf chai tea (now vanilla chai!) and get a few good calories too.

Warm liquids felt better than cold ones, for sure.

I was hungry 4 days out, and hasn't changed in 6 weeks since. You really have to grin and bear it until you start getting solids though (not something people want to hear).

Oh how I wish I was one of those people that don't feel hungry, but alas ;)

I've hit a stall 9 months out. I'm not worried, though. My fitness levels continue to improve and I have nearly accomplished my pre-surgery goal of learning to scuba dive! One dive left to complete to get my PADI card 🐠
I was able to go for a 10K/6mile hike in the mountains two days ago just for the fun of it. In the before days, I might have attempted this, but it would have taken me 7 or 8 hours to complete and I would have been exhausted and in pain for the next two days. Taking my time with breaks for snacks and water, I was finished with my wee jaunt in only 4 hours 😎 and really got to enjoy photographing some insects, fungi, and turtles.
Just for fun last week, I ran two 5Ks in two days, something I would have never done in the past! Next goal is a 10K before the end of this month.

Hi everyone, I wrote back in May about having no strength. I still get totally exhausted just walking from room to room, it’s so bad I’m using a walker with wheels of all things. I had the gastric sleeve Jan. 24th. I’m doing exactly what the programs says, except protein shakes. I have different meats and protein bars daily, including vitamins daily. I do drink my fluids as well.  I go in for IV hydration 4 days a week and feel ok just til evening.  So far as of Jan 1st I’ve dropped 76 lbs. I just want to enjoy the weight lose. Any suggestions or has anyone else gone thru this??  Doctor says just increase calorie intake, still the same.

Losing my hair in clumps and still dealing with "stomach" issues from gallbladder removal surgery. On the positive side I'm doing better about meeting protein and water goals and taking my vitamins, so yay? 🤷‍♀️
