I had surgery on Thursday and today I feel like I am starving to death. I am so hungry. I have had applesauce for Breakfast, Water, tea and beef broth for lunch. Is this all in my head or are these sounds from my stomach and hunger pains for real? :hungry:

It's probably more gas than anything. I felt like I was starving the first few days, but now that I am 2 weeks post-op I'm not that hungry at all. It's different for everyone though.

I do not know what your dr has told you to eat, but the reason you are hungry is you have not had any protein-I imagine you are starving. I drank my first Protein Drink the evening of my banding, however I drank it very slowly. I think slimfast in a pinch is ok, but not too filling. I like EAS Protein Powder which has little sugar and 27 grams of Protein, but there are many other drinks out there that banders love. Drinking the shakes have kept me full and losing weight. If you have not already, get a magic bullit-it will be your best friend for the next six weeks or so. Also, I mix my stuff, including creamy Soup, with soy milk-more protein than cow milk.

Don't forget WATER_WATER_WATER

Having Protein shakes really helps with the hunger. It's been 3 weeks for me and I'm feeling really good now. But I remember those first few days hurt a lot, especially around the port incision. Walking really helped. Also, try milk of magnesia to get rid of the gas and try to limit your dairy product for now too. Too much dairy might bloat you up, at least it did for me. Once I stopped eating dairy and did the milk of magnesia for a few days, the gas went away and I was feeling a lot better. And remember to drink plenty of Water too.

Before you know it you'll be feeling good too!

Thank you for all your help. I did start my day today with a Micellar Protein drink and the hunger pains went away. I walked a lot yesterday and today I am feeling much better.

I had 3 Protein Shakes already today. I decided to fix some runny MaltOMeal. I ate a little of that and feel so much better. I think I have to go from the clears onto creamy now. Thanks for the information.

A magic bullit is a tiny blender that blends directly into the glass you will drink from. They are more low maintenance than a regular blender and very conveinant. Google it to get more info-you can but them at lots of places. I think they range from 35-75$-but worth the money.

How are you making Protein shakes? (Or what kind are you buying?)

I can't find anything that I can stand. Blech. So far I've been using 1 chocolate pre-packaged pudding cup (sugar/fat free) + a touch of milk and a scoop of powders?utm_source=BariatricPal&utm_medium=Affiliate&utm_campaign=CommentLink" target="_ad" data-id="1" >unjury, blended. It's the only Protein I can get down right now. I tried to mix it with Soup, crystal light, etc., but it's nasty.

I had my husband pick up a Majic Bullet last night and it was $60 at Kohl's. I've used it three times already!

The absolute best things I have found are at this website:

http://store.bariatriceating.com/

I love the vanilla Micellar Milk. The chocolate is okay but the vanilla is yummy. It tastes cross between vanilla ice cream and rice pudding. I also love the whey Gourmet Smooth Peanut Butter Chocolate. This tastes like a Peanut Butter smoothie. Sounds gross, but really good. Also the Matrix Cookies & Cream is yummy. I do not mix them with Water though. I mix them with Skim milk. Those are my 3 preferred items. If any of you are in the Dallas area, I bought the big container and do not mind sharing the Cookies & Cream or the Peanut Butter chocolate. Let me know and we can get together.

I hear ya about the need for substance. The liquids are killing me. Last night I had some cream of mushroom soap. I ran it through the food processor and then a strainer. Only had about 1/2 C but it sure felt good. I also has a tiny bit of soft cheese.. I just sucked on if for a while. I'm down 10 as of this morning. I know I need to be drinking more, everything is just sooo sweet, and the Protein Drinks keep me in the bathroom. So Tea and Water and watered down juice it is. I'm coveting the thought of mashed potatoes. I'm nervous as hell about tuna, I can't see that getting through.

My problem with Protein is that I am getting really sick of sweet shakes, puddings, etc. I need to start pureeing meat and tuna, etc., but that does not sound appealing. Plus I am afraid to move from liquids to mushies.

I got really sick of the sweet Protein Shakes as well, so I started blending 1/2 cup of cottage cheese with 1 cup of Tomato juice. Not a gourmet meal, or anything to write home about, but I got in some Protein, and it wasn't bad. Blend it REALLY well...

I have no clue where to upload this, so I'll put it here. This is pre-op vs the morning of my 6 month appointment! In office I weight 232, that's 88 lbs down since my highest weight, 75 lbs since my surgery weight! I can't believe this jacket fit... I am smaller now than the last time I was this size which the surgeon found really amusing. He's happy with where I am in my weight loss and estimates I'll be around 200 lbs by my 1 year anniversary! My lowest weight as an adult is 195, so that's pretty damn exciting to think I'll be near that at a year. Everything from there will be unknown territory!!

I changed my profile image to a molecule of protein. Why? Because I am certain that it saved my life.

That's brilliant! You've done amazing!! I should probably think about changing my profile picture at some point. Mine is the doll from Squid Games. Ironically the whole premise of the show is about dodging death. We've both done that...

Two years out. Lost 120 , regained 5 lbs. Recently has a bout of Norovirus, lost 7 pounds in two days. Now my stomach feels like it did right after my surgery. Sore, sensitive to even water.  Anyone out there have a similar experience?

Am I the only struggling to get weight down. I started with weight of 297 and now im 280 but seem to not lose more weight. My nutrtionist told me not to worry about the pounds because I might still be losing inches. However, I do not really see much of a difference is this happen to any of you, if so any tips?
      Thanks
