Hey Chi town! What's going on? How is everyone doing? I'm half thru my pre op and surgery is scheduled for Monday. Pre ops been rough but I'm following it... for the most part. Lol. Evening hours are the hardest. What's everyone's current stats? Where are you on this journey?

Hey cutiepieinchi how are you? Do you have a surgery date yet?

I'm about to get submitted to insurance. I'm hoping for a late may date. Dr.Cahill gets pretty busy so it might end up being in June :(

I've been wearing my CPAP since last Monday and the ppulmonologist finally cleared me for surgery. Now I'm waiting for them to call and schedule my surgery. Hopefully I won't have to wait too long!

HI everybody! I swear I posted back in March that I was approved and had gotten scheduled, but I went back and checked and I guess I didn't post it in this group! Ooops! I have been doing a one month pre-op diet consisting of 4 Protein Shakes and raw vegetables per day. My surgery is scheduled for 4/23, so a week from today!

Just got home from the hospital today! I was sleeved April 14th! For those of you that are having your surgeries done at Little Company Of Mary with Dr. Cahill, you made a GREAT choice! The staff was wonderful! Tony is excellent and checked on me every day! The best thing I could say is keep a positive attitude and do EVERYTHING Tony tell you to do. I must admit that the first night was rough...I had a lot of pain in the belly and shoulder. But the support I had at the hospital was superb and family visits the second day were much appreciated. I'm so excited about the future!

Newbie here from Chicago! I'm in the very early stages for WLS and in the process of "shopping" for a surgeon. I've never had any kind of surgery before so I'm trying to get as much info I can get as possible. Which hospital did you have surgery? Who was your surgeon? How was your experience from start to finish? Any pros/cons? Did your program have you do a supervised diet? How long was the process?

Any kind of info will help! Thanks!

Hello all! I'm new to the entire WLS process as well.. I was starting my process at Rush because I've gone there my entire life, but my insurance through my dad (BCBS IL PPO) only allows for surgery at a center of excellence and my insurance at work (BCBS IL PPO) requires I pay a 2500 deductible.. So I will be going to a center if excellence (lol).. I attend UIC, but I'm thinking of going to Little Company of Mary.. Love reading everyone's stories and seeing all the support in here! Congrats to everyone and good luck with surgery Monday!

I also have BCBS IL! Are they strict about where you have surgery? I've gone to North Shore so far and have an appt at UChicago and thinking about checking out U of IL program. I may check out Little Company since a lot of people seem to like the place but I'm just concerned about the distance (I live in Lakeview) and pain after surgery!

He was great.................. My scare looks like a little zit.......... Lol............... Plus we worked with me... I had to pay some part of the surgery so he allowed me to leave after 23 hrs so I wouldn't be charged more......... Their hole group was great........... He even gave me his personal cell number if I had questions after my surgery

I've hit a stall 9 months out. I'm not worried, though. My fitness levels continue to improve and I have nearly accomplished my pre-surgery goal of learning to scuba dive! One dive left to complete to get my PADI card 🐠
I was able to go for a 10K/6mile hike in the mountains two days ago just for the fun of it. In the before days, I might have attempted this, but it would have taken me 7 or 8 hours to complete and I would have been exhausted and in pain for the next two days. Taking my time with breaks for snacks and water, I was finished with my wee jaunt in only 4 hours 😎 and really got to enjoy photographing some insects, fungi, and turtles.
Just for fun last week, I ran two 5Ks in two days, something I would have never done in the past! Next goal is a 10K before the end of this month.

Hi everyone, I wrote back in May about having no strength. I still get totally exhausted just walking from room to room, it’s so bad I’m using a walker with wheels of all things. I had the gastric sleeve Jan. 24th. I’m doing exactly what the programs says, except protein shakes. I have different meats and protein bars daily, including vitamins daily. I do drink my fluids as well.  I go in for IV hydration 4 days a week and feel ok just til evening.  So far as of Jan 1st I’ve dropped 76 lbs. I just want to enjoy the weight lose. Any suggestions or has anyone else gone thru this??  Doctor says just increase calorie intake, still the same.

Losing my hair in clumps and still dealing with "stomach" issues from gallbladder removal surgery. On the positive side I'm doing better about meeting protein and water goals and taking my vitamins, so yay? 🤷‍♀️
