Hey guys, I'm just checking in. I had surgery on Tuesday. I was supposed to go home today but I have low potassium so they're keeping me an extra day. I'm sore and so drugged up all I do is sleep. Never thought I wouldn't have the energy to talk. I just want to sleep. I feel so so, but I'm sure it'll get better. Sinus headache very annoying.

Hi Sandee,

I had surgery on Tuesday as well. Came home yesterday. I opted for no drugs in the hospital or home so I'm having a little trouble sleeping. Hang I'm there. Glad you're well

Hi you guys. I just want say that the next time someone says this is the easy way out just slap them! lol Seriously though, doing this takes hard work and commitment. It's even more challenging when you have other physical conditions that limit your mobility (spinal nerve damage, weak legs and arms). Just talking and even texting is challenging because I don't have full focus back (too much focus on the PAIN! lol) With that said, when I was in the hospital I did my laps around the halls, it was challenging, but I did it. I blew out 5 veins (3 in one arm/hand and 2 in the other arm/hand). I had to stay the extra day to get my levels up, so I just got home last night. Getting in my house was quite a feat (lots of steps) and I thank GOD for my family, especially my dear sister. The love, care and support from family and close friends is so important through every phase of this process, especially right after surgery. No chair is comfortable, but I am able to sit, lay and sleep in my bed thank god. I walk laps through the house until I graduate to the treadmill. Lots of burping, spitting and coughing, so I guess that's good. Ok, I'm all typed out. Thanks for your concern and well wishes. I hope everyone else is progressing well.

One more thing...I feel like a turkey plumped up with salt water...could barely get my shoes on when leaving the hospital...I feel like the good year blimp.

Happy to hear you are home! I know what you mean about the Fluid, they pumped an extra 10# of fluid in me before I left the hospital!! I was quite disappointed when they weighed me before I left the hospital and I was 10# heavier than before surgery!! But I had trouble getting my fluids in for the first week so I was thankful for the extra, I did not get dehydrated! Good luck to you and be well!!

Being home must feel great after everything you went through. Well done doing the hard work to get yourself ready for home.

Definitely not the easy way out.

Take care of yourself and enjoy being on the other side. :)

You are a beautiful and deserving lady that is making great choices for your health. This is definitely not easy...no even a little bit....in the beginning, from my experience..its horrible....I am a little more than two months out and just beginning to enjoy my weight loss and settling in with "Felipe" my sleeve....its been a journey and it is NOT EASY at all....

But you have a great attitude and the love and support you need to stay on track and meet your healthcare goals...

Good Luck!!!

Shelby

I had surgery on Monday and left the hospital one day early on Wednesday. It was a bad idea, I should have actually stayed a day longer. Hope you do good at home the struggle now begins.

Hey guys, thanks for your kind words. Mom and sis are still here and will be leaving sometime today, so I will be on my own, but it's fine, I'll be ok. Each day gets better. I didn't realize hard it would be to get all of my fluids in, but I'm doing it. I almost had a bm this morning, but it wouldn't come out! lol I drank some Smooth Move tea, so hopefully I'll get some action later today:) I had some egg drop Soup yesterday, but I threw it up, so I may not be able to tolerate egg product right now. I seem to have a constant gnawing headache all the time, but I think it's the side effects of the oxycodone (also having crazy dreams!). That's it for now. I hope everyone is well.

Thanks for the update! I'm so glad to hear you are doing better. Hydrocodone always gives me a headache too. Hope you continue to improve. It has to all be uphill from here! :)

I also have a horrible headache almost everyday. My doc said it may be caffeine withdrawals since I was a heavy 3 or 4 cup of coffee drinker a day.

I've hit a stall 9 months out. I'm not worried, though. My fitness levels continue to improve and I have nearly accomplished my pre-surgery goal of learning to scuba dive! One dive left to complete to get my PADI card 🐠
I was able to go for a 10K/6mile hike in the mountains two days ago just for the fun of it. In the before days, I might have attempted this, but it would have taken me 7 or 8 hours to complete and I would have been exhausted and in pain for the next two days. Taking my time with breaks for snacks and water, I was finished with my wee jaunt in only 4 hours 😎 and really got to enjoy photographing some insects, fungi, and turtles.
Just for fun last week, I ran two 5Ks in two days, something I would have never done in the past! Next goal is a 10K before the end of this month.

Hi everyone, I wrote back in May about having no strength. I still get totally exhausted just walking from room to room, it’s so bad I’m using a walker with wheels of all things. I had the gastric sleeve Jan. 24th. I’m doing exactly what the programs says, except protein shakes. I have different meats and protein bars daily, including vitamins daily. I do drink my fluids as well.  I go in for IV hydration 4 days a week and feel ok just til evening.  So far as of Jan 1st I’ve dropped 76 lbs. I just want to enjoy the weight lose. Any suggestions or has anyone else gone thru this??  Doctor says just increase calorie intake, still the same.

Losing my hair in clumps and still dealing with "stomach" issues from gallbladder removal surgery. On the positive side I'm doing better about meeting protein and water goals and taking my vitamins, so yay? 🤷‍♀️
