10 pounds so far and only first week out!

Recommended Posts

Hi Guys,

I have just past the first week mark for my Lap band and i have lost 10 pounds so far! i am very nervous about moving to solids because i know that the weight loss will slow down and i might even gain weight! is it possible to have solid weightloss after starting solids?

Looking for guidance,

Thanks

Of course it's possible. We all eventually started solids, and we all have lost/are losing weight. I wouldn't, however, expect that sort of weight loss every week or even every month. Some people do experience a "plateau" and some even experience a small gain until they get adjustments/fills. Others never needed a fill. WE ARE ALL SO DIFFERENT!!!!! Congrats on the loss and a successful surgery. Remember: a good weight loss is considered to be 1-2 pounds/week!

Congrats on the first week of success. My suggestion...take it one day at a time...remember the rules and your mechanics and don't fear solids. For me...I've feared food my entire life....to the point that I let it rule me...NO MORE I am happy to report.

Of course, many have and do lose weight moving to the solid phase. I know weight loss is the ultimate goal...it definately was for me...but over the past 5 months that has shifted some....I feel better physically and mentally....my clothing fits better and I'm moving into smaller and smaller sizes and its easier to move around. For me, that is even more important than seeing the scale move down. Losing weight happens in many more ways than just the number on the scale getting lower.

Try not to compare yourself to others...there are SO many....maybe even TOO many factors to take into account in ones life and body to make any kind of comparison....and sometimes it only sets you up for failure and makes you feel bad about yourself (it did for me)... So, yes , I am happy to see other peoples tickers to see what great successes they have had but I have stopped comparing it to mine....and I am much happier in this lap band journey we are on.

Wishing you all the best....keep your eye on the prize!!!!!

I am going with we are all so different. but one thing I think we all did or are still going through is bandster hell. brain hunger. if you can continue to eat healthy exercise as much as possible you will get through adjusting your band okay. but it is easier to say that. please keep coming back we will encourage you when you need encouragement, reminders when you need to be reminded and a whole lot of life expierences that we have already done and been there. good luck to you. just remember this is not a sprint.

Hi ussr28. Well done on that superb first week loss. I am in the same situation as you I am on day 5 having had my Band fitted on 20th Feb. Also had a hernia repair at same time. Sadly had a bad reaction to anaesthetic which means I don't yet feel too good, but so far have not felt hungry! You've inspired me to get on the scales and see how it's going. Have a similar amount of weight to lose and started with BMI of 32. Having read lots of posts guess the best way to move onto solids is very slowly, introducing small amounts at a time. After all I think we all want to end our previous destructive relationship with food and get our lives back. Good luck

I've hit a stall 9 months out. I'm not worried, though. My fitness levels continue to improve and I have nearly accomplished my pre-surgery goal of learning to scuba dive! One dive left to complete to get my PADI card 🐠
I was able to go for a 10K/6mile hike in the mountains two days ago just for the fun of it. In the before days, I might have attempted this, but it would have taken me 7 or 8 hours to complete and I would have been exhausted and in pain for the next two days. Taking my time with breaks for snacks and water, I was finished with my wee jaunt in only 4 hours 😎 and really got to enjoy photographing some insects, fungi, and turtles.
Just for fun last week, I ran two 5Ks in two days, something I would have never done in the past! Next goal is a 10K before the end of this month.

Hi everyone, I wrote back in May about having no strength. I still get totally exhausted just walking from room to room, it’s so bad I’m using a walker with wheels of all things. I had the gastric sleeve Jan. 24th. I’m doing exactly what the programs says, except protein shakes. I have different meats and protein bars daily, including vitamins daily. I do drink my fluids as well.  I go in for IV hydration 4 days a week and feel ok just til evening.  So far as of Jan 1st I’ve dropped 76 lbs. I just want to enjoy the weight lose. Any suggestions or has anyone else gone thru this??  Doctor says just increase calorie intake, still the same.

Losing my hair in clumps and still dealing with "stomach" issues from gallbladder removal surgery. On the positive side I'm doing better about meeting protein and water goals and taking my vitamins, so yay? 🤷‍♀️
