I feel as if I made a bad decision.

Recommended Posts

I had the Lap Band removed and the sleeve done on January 17th and have not been able to eat or drink anything since then. Everything comes back up and when it do it also full of mucus. I chew the food up very small before swallowing and that's not helping me. I feel the food sitting in my chest. The Dr. is suggesting I do the Gastric Bypass but to me that's not going to help my situation. I do not feel like going under anesthesia to be cut open again. Do anyone have any suggestions? Do you know anyone that experience what I am experiencing? Can you imagine being so hungry and wanting to eat and when you do it stops in your chest only to be regurgitated back out.....yuck!!

That must be horrible. I assume you've been scoped to rule out any type of issue causing this.

Depending on the corrosion caused by the band, the bypass actually could make sense. Really though, they need to take a close look and see what the issues is

Yes it is a horrible feeling. The Dr. tried to clean up the corrosions caused by the band......I'm just trying to figure out why the food/liquids is not going to the stomach? Gagging is not good and I can cause problems to the stomach but I feel the food and liquids in the chest and have no problem bring it back out. As soon as I do that.....I'm sooooo hungry. I'm going to seek a second and third opinion. I am suppose to be on the road to healing and instead I feel as if I'm on the road to setback.

I went thru the same thing and had no relief until my Dr put me on nexium. It has been a life saver for me.

Good luck to you!

i don’t have experience with this personally to help but just ideas I have a small sleeve and I puked a lot at first, ok I still do but not as much anyway I went through all the food stages and just puked and puked and puked my doc told me to go all the way back to the start and work forward again.

My little sleeve was swollen and small so it needed extra time to get better and used to eating again.

I would assume you have a smaller sleeve as you were banded so the size of your stomach would be smaller before the op leaving you with a smaller sleeve.

I still eat smaller portions than most at my stage one of my doctors has honest to god suggested I try and stretch it by drinking carbonated drinks all day every day he said he shouldn’t be suggesting it but that’s something I can do to give myself some more room.

I haven’t tried this though.

If every single thing hurts and makes you sick even Water then there is a problem.

If its just a case of overfilling a little stomach cut back on the size of your portions.

good luck

Two months out from hiatal hernia repair.  Surgeon said to expect a lot more flatulence...something about the 'air' no longer being able to 'burp' out so comes out the other end.  That is my experience but have no understanding of why that swallowed air cannot be 'burped'. ???

As I understand it since your stomach is smaller and not completely resting against your diaphragm anymore you no longer have the ability to "push" burps out as well. Plus, since its smaller and we don't digest slower the trapped air moves a lot quicker out of the stomach so its no longer available to burp out. Hence the other option for removal.

Me too girl!! Are you in the full liquid diet right now? It’s sooooo hard!

      2. LadyVeteran1

Not yet. I was told I only have to do 24 hours of a liquid diet. But I have my pre-op tomorrow so I’m going to confirm if I need to do longer.

Down 33 lbs and slightly stalled, but I'm gonna reevaluate and push through. I started back to work last week after 2 years of being disabled due to mental health as well as my weight. It's a great job and I'm just so happy to have this opportunity at a second chance at life. Hope everyone is having their best journey ❤️ Together, we got this!
