Bandsters, What did you eat today???

Recommended Posts

Hey Suzy what you eat is your choice.... (yes, I can't resist offering advice:o it's my motherly nature!)

It's just important (IMHO) to record your food, examine it and look for ways to improve your diet..... I know that if I get in what I need to get in then I've no room (well not anymore, since my fill yesterday!) for the crapola I lurve sooo much! Trust me, when I say that I'm no angel... my restriction left me last week and I ate loads of it!!!

Ben and Jerry's ice cream, thorntons Choccies ( chocolate covered biscuit things) Krispy Kreme Doughnuts, Sausages, bacon, loads of curry (I have one every week but had only been managing around 1/3 of a portion.... last weekend I ate almost a whole serving, plus naan bread:o :guess ) and lets not forget my Chinese meal!! So as you can see, we, none of us are perfect.... I do try, because being thin is so fresh in my mind I know how much better I'm going to feel as every kg leaves my body I know that it's not coming back and that has spurred me on to keep with eating healthy choices first,... Crapola later.... thank Goodness I've had a fill and the status Quo has been resumed!

Lastly.... it's great to have you back on the forum!!!

I for one have really missed your posts!

anon I was the same before my restriction. My dietician couldn't believe I had eaten a Krispy Kreme but hey ho at least I was honest!

yesterday

B - 1xweetabix

L - went to nandos for lunch and had chicken salad (could only eat about a 1/4 but managed a couple of spoonfuls of frozen yoghurt for dessert!

D - Thai prawn curry and 1 spoonful of rice (haven't eaten rice since december so I wasn't sure how it would go down but it went down a treat!)

The only thing I need to cut down on is apple juice as I am drinking sooooooo much of it and I know it has added calories :)

Hey guys,

I am new on the Forum. That is to say that until now I read a lot of it but never joined in the discussion. Just found this bit on the brits. I am actually French but live in Britain so I guess that applies to me. You topic is great. I have loved reading all about people being extremely good and extremely bad too! I thought I was the only one feeling this yo-yo sensation! I am goind through a "good" patch this week. Have to as I went through the worst patch ever last week and put on 5 pounds!!!! I was disgusted. until now my weight has only ever varied by a pound at most. So my 5st loss is history. I had been plateauing for almost 6 months! Losing courage to be honest. I have tried all the different diets you can imagine and seem to be getting nowhere! I do not feel that restricted at all. The last fill, the surgeon told me that I was almost full (sorry cannot remember the numbers, will pay more attention next time) so getting a bit scared. Yet i felt no different at all after the fill. He has now agreed that he will fill me in July (my next appointment) if I have not lost anything by then. I am trying really hard but I get bored easily with food and actually I like food too much to be on a permanent diet. Anybody out there got any tips for me. this would be much appreciated as I feel I could do with all the support I can!

Carol your food sounds really lovely.... (I'm such a food addict... I love cooking, baking, cake decorating, and I really love the food porn on TV AkA UKTV Food!)

Today my food is as follows

B;100g cottage cheese 50g pineapple

L; poached salmon with mixed salad

S: Cambridge bar (for the fibre more than anything else tbh!)

D; Spicy pork chop 100g jersey royal potatoes, cauliflower, broccoli

I've not eaten dinner yet. I'll let you know how I go on with the chop after my fill yesterday!

Brandychick... come on record your food! It's good for the soul!

LOL!! No more chocolate!! I think that a little of what you fancy does you good... a handful is hardly going to break the diet!

What is important is that you get all the good foods your body needs.... then treats if there's room!

Well

Yesterday I had:

Breakfast: bean Soup

Lunch: tuna wrap, half a packet of low fat crisp, a low fat yogurt bar

Tea: turkey breast, 7 new potatoes

Snacks: 3 cups of green tea and chicken samosa and one haribo (so glad I stopped at one for once!)

I tell you what, writing it down puts it in perspective! It looks like I eat far too much. Maybe a bit of Portion Control might be in order.

I am one of the lucky ones who does not like chocolate! So no problem for me on that front! It's the chips I have to be careful with!!!!!! :omg:

Well today my restriction seems to have come out of nowhere!

B; 1/2 Protein shot (21g protein 90 cals)

S; 1/2 apple... started off as a whole one... abandoned!

L; 1/2 chicken pannini ( took 1/2 home for son to eat!)

S; 1/2 protein & shot 1/2 apple

D; Well I know that I ought to have something... but I just feel so 'full'

Might try baked sweet potato and beans.... Not that I fancy it much....

Total calories are about 750 with dinner if I can manage it!

Anon I can only dream of a restriction that good. Roll on July and see if that makes any difference!

Well done you, I hope for you that it lasts for a few pounds off!

Well in the end I had a Baked sweet potato with a bit of tuna and sweetcorn and 4 cherry tomatoes.... you wouldn't believe how stuffed I was!

Today is 'junk day'

But all I've managed is

1 cambridge shake

1 rye cracker

150g cottage cheese small pb, must remember to chew chew chew :-(

about 4 cups of coffee.... really unusual for me as I don't have much in the way of coffee, but have had a friend round and she drinks it like it's going out of fashion!

Tonight is curry night! Dunno how I'm going to get on with that!

Hope you had a great curry night H x

OK time to input again. Now in my defence I have been having the worse TOM ever! More in the fact feeling totally wiped out, can't wait till it goes completely ho hum.

B: Porridge and raisins

S: Orange

L: Beef and vegetable Soup

S: Exoctic Solero

D: 2 bags of spicy nik naks and a topic bar

I know fairly crap but getting better and I am still wearing 18 jeans! I haven't stood on teh scale for a couple of weeks, shall stand on them this Friday with my PT. We both decided it would be better for morale if I cut down teh amount of time I stand on scales. As soon as I know I shall let you all know. If I haven't lost weight it would be quite perplexing!

LubertySuzanne, weighing once in a while sounds like a very good idea. Unfortunately, I am a very weak person and tend to weight myself most day. Whilst it can be depressing some days, I think it keeps my finger on the buzzer and keeps me going. If I weigh myseof and it is crap, I might feel depressed but I am so much more careful for the day!

Anyway, today I have been goodish:

Late Breakfast: 2 boiled eggs with a slice of bread

Lunch/Tea: mixed salad with 5 boiled new potatoes.

That should be it for the day. I may have a cup of green tea later if I feel peckish.

PS: How but to have a curry.... I wish I could but it doesn't agree with me much since the op!

On day 4 of the 2 week liquid pre-op diet. Surgery scheduled for June 11th.
Soooo I am coming to a realization
of something and I'm not sure what to do about it. For years the only thing I've enjoyed is eating. We rarely do anything or go anywhere and if we do it always includes food. Family comes over? Big family dinner! Go camping? Food! Take a short ride or trip? Food! Holiday? Food! Go out of town for a Dr appointment? Food! When we go to a new town we don't look for any attractions, we look for restaurants we haven't been to. Heck, I look forward to getting off work because that means it's almost supper time. Now that I'm drinking these pre-op shakes for breakfast, lunch, and supper I have nothing to look forward to.  And once I have surgery on June 11th it'll be more of the same shakes. Even after pureed stage, soft food stage, and finally regular food stage, it's going to be a drastic change for the rest of my life. I'm giving up the one thing that really brings me joy. Eating. How do you cope with that? What do you do to fill that void? Wow. Now I'm sad.

Life as a big person had limited my life to what I knew I could manage to do each day. That was eat. I hadn't anything else to look forward to. So my eating choices were the best I could dream up. I planned the cooking in managable lots in my head and filled my day with and around it.

Now I have a whole new big, bigger, biggest, best days ever. I am out there with those skinny people doing stuff i could never have dreamt of. Food is now an after thought. It doesn't consume my day. I still enjoy the good home cooked food but I eat smaller portions. I leave food on my plate when I am full. I can no longer hear my mother's voice saying eat it all up, ther are starving children in Africa who would want that!

I still cook for family feasts, I love cooking. I still do holidays but I have changed from the All inclusive drinking and eating everything everyday kind to Self catering accommodation. This gives me the choice of cooking or eating out as I choose. I rarely drink anymore as I usually travel alone now and I feel I need to keep aware of my surroundings.

I don't know at what point my life expanded, was it when I lost 100 pounds? Was it when I left my walking stick at home ? Was it when I said yes to an outing instead of finding an excuse to stay home ? i look back at my last five years and wonder how loosing weight has made such a difference. Be ready to amaze yourself.

BTW, the liquid diet sucks, one more day and you are over the worst. You can do it.

Three months and four days ago... I was in Costa Rica having a life changing surgery! Yesterday we had a followup visit with Dr. Esmeral via video chat and this morning my middle number changed.  I'm down 47lbs and two pants sizes. I can wear a Large tshirt for the first time in like... 14 years! Woot!! Everything is going great. I have zero regrets. I went down to the riverwalk with a friend and walked 2 miles on Monday without even getting fatigued. And no more snoring or chugging pickle juice for crazy leg cramps! I need to go to the gym more... I'm making new shirts next week so that will motivate me. LOL But I'm also just not as TIRED all the time! I have a LONG way to go...but seeing the progress on the scales and in the mirror is a huge motivator!! Thank you all for cheering me on and supporting me!!
