Hello all, I am having my surgery April 19th and was wondering how long it takes to recover. Was there much pain after the first two days???? I am suppossed to work two days after my surgery and am getting a little nervous about it. Any suggestions?

Meredith

I would have been ok to go back to work on the 2nd day if I had to but I have mainly a desk job. The biggest problem I can see for you is that you can feel pretty tired on that day, or at least I did. That and eating lunch would have been odd as I didn't tell anyone at work.

Good luck

Meredith,

Unlike most people, I had a hard time post-op. I had surgery on March 19th and here it is 9 days later and I'm just starting to feel better. I took all last week off and then I decided to take another week. I thought for sure I would have bounced right back but I didn't.

Good luck

As everyone is different be prepared to take extra time off, just in case. I can't imagine going back to work at this point ( 9 days out). I feel pretty good but still have quite a bit of port incision pain.

I could have worked on day 4 - but it was impossible for me to sleep lying in my bed for the first 3 nights - so I was exausted until then.

If you have a recliner - you might get better sleep for the first couple of days - and you might be able to make it.

If at all possible, I would suggest that you take a couple additional days off - but I have heard of people who leapt up off the table and went shopping - so maybe you will be one of those.

Good Luck!

I am taking two weeks to rest up and heal. PArt of the time is for me to start excercising and adjust to the new eating habits. So far at day 4, I am tired and napping during the day. Everyone is different but please allow time to heal so this entire process is a good one for you. GOOD LUCK!

Everything will be fine I feel like everyone seems to be different. I was banded on Mar 22 came home next day. Give your self a week and you will feel better, My problem is now the intake of the Jello and broth. I just keep telling my self this will all be worth it. The first few days I was so nervous I was never put into surgery before the gas pains are not fun at all. I didnt want to take the medicine but it helps alot. Good luck. After the pain goes away now I am left with hunger pains.

I have no clue where to upload this, so I'll put it here. This is pre-op vs the morning of my 6 month appointment! In office I weight 232, that's 88 lbs down since my highest weight, 75 lbs since my surgery weight! I can't believe this jacket fit... I am smaller now than the last time I was this size which the surgeon found really amusing. He's happy with where I am in my weight loss and estimates I'll be around 200 lbs by my 1 year anniversary! My lowest weight as an adult is 195, so that's pretty damn exciting to think I'll be near that at a year. Everything from there will be unknown territory!!

I changed my profile image to a molecule of protein. Why? Because I am certain that it saved my life.

Two years out. Lost 120 , regained 5 lbs. Recently has a bout of Norovirus, lost 7 pounds in two days. Now my stomach feels like it did right after my surgery. Sore, sensitive to even water.  Anyone out there have a similar experience?

      April Surgery
Am I the only struggling to get weight down. I started with weight of 297 and now im 280 but seem to not lose more weight. My nutrtionist told me not to worry about the pounds because I might still be losing inches. However, I do not really see much of a difference is this happen to any of you, if so any tips?
      Thanks

Well recovering from gallbladder removal was a lot like recovering from the modified duodenal switch surgery, twice in 4 months yay 🥳😭. I'm having to battle cravings for everything i shouldn't have, on top of trying to figure out what happens after i eat something. Sigh, let me fast forward a couple of months when everyday isn't a constant battle and i can function like a normal person again! 😞
