Be patient, girl. Not even a week out.

It likely isn't hunger pangs when you sip at this point. Your stomach was just cut, it's still swollen, tissues need to heal. The discomfort is post-op discomfort and spasm of your stomach's response to what's coming down. . Trust me it ALL gets better.

Again...you just had surgery. Be patient.

I hear you! My first week was no cake walk either. Now five weeks out, aside from the feeling of being full after two bites, I don't feel like I've been sleeved at all. Every time I saw a "it will get better" post, I wanted to claw my eyes out :o . Little by little you will get the hang of your sleeve. Everyone moves forward at their own pace, you'll do great! Congrats on your new sleeve!

Hi There: Had the same problem and discussed it at my follow up appointment today. The Physician Assistant explained it this way she said

"We removed a large part of your stomach. You stomach is in shock. It is 80-85% smaller and needs to do the work of a normal sized stomach. Those spasms will lessen over time when your stomach finally realizes it can do the same job with less power"

Makes sense and I am almost 9 days post op and they are so much better. Now only sometimes when I swallow do I feel it. Not gone completely but doesn't happen every single time something hits my belly like it did before.

I was super worried about this too. I hate the feeling. Bentyl helps (did they prescribe that for you?)

I'm sorry. That Bentyl is an anti-spasmotic and it helps so much. Maybe call your surgeon tomorrow if it really bugging you and ask for an anti-spasmotic like ie. Bentyl. Ranitidine is just Zantac.... They gave me Prilosec (same type of drug).

I have the same exact problem. I'm hoping switching from Clear Liquids to full liquids this week helps. But jeesh! My stomach was cramping and spasming so much! It literally hurt!

I've hit a stall 9 months out. I'm not worried, though. My fitness levels continue to improve and I have nearly accomplished my pre-surgery goal of learning to scuba dive! One dive left to complete to get my PADI card 🐠
I was able to go for a 10K/6mile hike in the mountains two days ago just for the fun of it. In the before days, I might have attempted this, but it would have taken me 7 or 8 hours to complete and I would have been exhausted and in pain for the next two days. Taking my time with breaks for snacks and water, I was finished with my wee jaunt in only 4 hours 😎 and really got to enjoy photographing some insects, fungi, and turtles.
Just for fun last week, I ran two 5Ks in two days, something I would have never done in the past! Next goal is a 10K before the end of this month.

Hi everyone, I wrote back in May about having no strength. I still get totally exhausted just walking from room to room, it’s so bad I’m using a walker with wheels of all things. I had the gastric sleeve Jan. 24th. I’m doing exactly what the programs says, except protein shakes. I have different meats and protein bars daily, including vitamins daily. I do drink my fluids as well.  I go in for IV hydration 4 days a week and feel ok just til evening.  So far as of Jan 1st I’ve dropped 76 lbs. I just want to enjoy the weight lose. Any suggestions or has anyone else gone thru this??  Doctor says just increase calorie intake, still the same.

Losing my hair in clumps and still dealing with "stomach" issues from gallbladder removal surgery. On the positive side I'm doing better about meeting protein and water goals and taking my vitamins, so yay? 🤷‍♀️
