Same with me Kristina. Sat I'm shampooing all the carpets in the house and make sure everything is in order. My dad who is 91 lives with me so I had to line up a cousin to come stay at night with him and make sure he eats while I'm gone... So making up some meals for him to eat while I'm in hospital. Spa appt Friday for hair cut and color. These next few days are going to fly by. I bet Sunday night will drag on and on and on. Lol.

So many of us on the 24th! Awesome! I am on day 3 of Protein Shakes and Clear Liquids. The roughest part is the constant headache. I know monday will be here before I know it. I agree, Sunday will probably drag. My youngest turns 13 tomorrow. Going to take her and 2 friends to Chicago on saturday to go to Shedd Aquarium, that should make saturday go by quickly. I am leaving laundry til sunday to help that day go by...

Omg the headache was horrible I tried to sleep through it but it was almost impossible to fall asleep with a throbbing head! Thanks for reminding me I wanted to borrow my dads shampooer!

Tonight is my second night in the hospital and I am hurting. The built up gas in my belly mixed with the pain of the incisions is very uncomfortable. I haven't been hungry nor thirsty, although I am drinking sips of Water now. I started walking the hallway only 2 hours after surgery. How long before this gas passes? How long before people start to feel better?

For me the gas pains didn't set in until I got home. They lasted about two days. Walking and gas-x strips seemed to help. I remember my first night in the hospital I was in SO much pain, the next day there was a significant improvement. And the day after was a little better as well. I'm 1 week post op now and still have discomfort in my abdomen but I think I may have strained too much.

I hope you have a speedy recovery!

My surgery was Tuesday March 11 and the first couple days were the worse for gas pains. I still had them until Saturday, but they weren't as bad. Once in a while I can feel a bubble rumbling around, but I barely notice and I am a week out. Just keep walking!

I have 4 more days of Protein Shakes, 1 day of clear liquids and then it's surgery day! I'm excited, nervous and making tons of lists for next week. seems like so much to do and so little time. Plus the whole cleaning of the house from floor to ceiling this weekend.

4 days away! liquid diet is going ok. Anyone else feeling super sensitive? Today was rough, felt like everyone had something shitty to say. I don't know if it's just me cause I'm freakin hungry & my hormones feel like they are all over the place? I swear I could cry. I'm usually not a downer.

I'm going to be alone recovery as well, but that's my choice. I have told no one except my two kids , But I prefer to not have people hovering over me Lol. Good luck to us aloners!!

I made that choice also. Only one family member knows, anyone that even "might" be negative I did not tell. I'm guessing I may have to tell my co-worker when I get back to work, since I have to drink every 15 mins. and no solids.

I'm having the gastric bypass on March 26th. It's getting close. I haven't decided if I'm nervous or not. I think I'm more nervous about the years that follow than I am about the surgery itself.

I feel like I am just on edge about everything. I have to keep my mind occupied or I find myself staring in the fridge. I never get anything out, but just stare as if I'll never see food again!

      April Surgery
Am I the only struggling to get weight down. I started with weight of 297 and now im 280 but seem to not lose more weight. My nutrtionist told me not to worry about the pounds because I might still be losing inches. However, I do not really see much of a difference is this happen to any of you, if so any tips?
      Thanks

Well recovering from gallbladder removal was a lot like recovering from the modified duodenal switch surgery, twice in 4 months yay 🥳😭. I'm having to battle cravings for everything i shouldn't have, on top of trying to figure out what happens after i eat something. Sigh, let me fast forward a couple of months when everyday isn't a constant battle and i can function like a normal person again! 😞

Iʻm roughly 6 weeks post-op this morning and have begun to feel like a normal human, with a normal human body again. I started introducing solid foods and pill forms of medications/supplements a couple of weeks ago and it's really amazing to eat meals with my family again, despite the fact that my portions are so much smaller than theirs.
I live on the island of Oʻahu and spend a lot of time in the water- for exercise, for play,  and for spiritual & mental health. The day I had my month out appointment with my surgeon, I packed all my gear in my truck, anticipating his permission to get back in the ocean. The minute I walked out of that hospital I drove straight to the shore and got in that water. Hallelujah! My appointment was at 10 am. I didn't get home until after 5 pm.
I'm down 31 pounds since the day of surgery and 47 since my pre-op diet began, with that typical week long stall occurring at three weeks. I'm really starting to see some changes lately- some of my clothing is too big, some fits again. The most drastic changes I notice however are in my face. I've also noticed my endurance and flexibility increasing. I was really starting to be held up physically, and I'm so grateful that I'm seeing that turn around in such short order.
My general disposition lately is hopeful and motivated. The only thing that bugs me on a daily basis still is the way those supplements make my house smell. So stink! But I just bought a smell proof bag online that other people use to put their pot in. My house doesn't stink anymore.

Oh yeah, something I wanted to rant about, a billing dispute that cropped up 3 months ago.
Surgery was in August of 2023. A bill shows up for over $7,000 in January. WTF? I asks myself. I know that I jumped through all of the insurance hoops and verified this and triple checked that, as did the surgeon's office. All was set, and I paid all of the known costs before surgery.
A looong story short, is that an assistant surgeon that was in the process of accepting money from my insurance company touched me while I was under anesthesia. That is what the bill was for. But hey, guess what? Some federal legislation was enacted last year to help patients out when they cannot consent to being touched by someone out of their insurance network. These types of bills fall under something called, "surprise billing," and you don't have to put up with it.
      https://www.cms.gov/nosurprises
I had to make a lot of phone calls to both the surgeon's office and the insurance company and explain my rights and what the maximum out of pocket costs were that I could be liable for. Also had to remind them that it isn't my place to be taking care of all of this and that I was going to escalate things if they could not play nice with one another.
Quick ending is that I don't have to pay that $7,000+. Advocate, advocate, advocate for yourself no matter how long it takes and learn more about this law if you are ever hit with a surprise bill.
