Tomorrow is my last pre-op appt (psych). Can you all share your psych appt experiences?

Mine was rather simple,in fact the filling out the forms took longer than the actual session. I believe we talked for less than 15 minutes. You'll do fine :)

They had me fill out a questionnaire on a tablet asking about physical emotional abuse as a child and currently... Then she printed out my results and went talked about how I rated on a scale is 1-10 for anxiety, depression, and PTSD. I have all of the above but she wasn't worried about it, she said the majority of people do they just want to know how you are coping (not with food) or about your medications. Also she wanted to make sure I had a good support system. That took about 30 min and half was the questionnaire.

I am currently scheduled for surgery March 13th. I had my last appointment this past Friday and was given all of my prescriptions and directions. However, my surgeons office hasn't submitted to my insurance, bcbs illinois, for final approval yet. I called today. Hopefully they send it out at some point this week and its approved quick! I start my preop liquid diet this Friday and I would hate to go through that and have my surgery pushed back or something. Im always thinking the worst lol. Waiting stinks!

Keep us posted :) It's so good to know I am not alone! Have a great support system at home, it's just good to connect with the one's going through it!

Mine was fairly simple. I filled out the questionnaire. It asked the same questions multiple times with slight different phrasing. So watch out for that. For example it might say "I often take illegal drugs" on one question and they next may be "i rarely take illegal drugs."

Talking to the psych was pretty simple. He asked questions about addiction, to see if you're likely to develop other addictions ECT., family history hobbies, just basic stuff. There were some off the wall questions like "what's your favorite type of chocolate chip cookie."

Good luck with it! I was nervous, but it was nothing.

I will! I have a pretty good support system with family and friends. I'm just really impatient lol. I thought the surgery would have to be approved BEFORE they schedule it. I assumed right off the bat when they scheduled me that I was good to go. Nope!

Wow that's really fast! My first appointment was in early May.

I called Anthem BCBS asked them what was required per plan, a week ago, got on my surgeons consult for the 4th with psych and nut set for the 5th. The ladies in the office think I'll be scheduled for the 25th for surgery! I have been shocked how quickly mine is going!! Was expecting an 8 month process!

Losing my hair in clumps and still dealing with "stomach" issues from gallbladder removal surgery. On the positive side I'm doing better about meeting protein and water goals and taking my vitamins, so yay? 🤷‍♀️

I've hit a stall 9 months out. I'm not worried, though. My fitness levels continue to improve and I have nearly accomplished my pre-surgery goal of learning to scuba dive! One dive left to complete to get my PADI card 🐠
I was able to go for a 10K/6mile hike in the mountains two days ago just for the fun of it. In the before days, I might have attempted this, but it would have taken me 7 or 8 hours to complete and I would have been exhausted and in pain for the next two days. Taking my time with breaks for snacks and water, I was finished with my wee jaunt in only 4 hours 😎 and really got to enjoy photographing some insects, fungi, and turtles.

I have no clue where to upload this, so I'll put it here. This is pre-op vs the morning of my 6 month appointment! In office I weight 232, that's 88 lbs down since my highest weight, 75 lbs since my surgery weight! I can't believe this jacket fit... I am smaller now than the last time I was this size which the surgeon found really amusing. He's happy with where I am in my weight loss and estimates I'll be around 200 lbs by my 1 year anniversary! My lowest weight as an adult is 195, so that's pretty damn exciting to think I'll be near that at a year. Everything from there will be unknown territory!!
