I'm just starting my 2nd post-op week. I feel exhausted and no energy. I walk around the house a couple of times and I'm tired and need to sit.

Is this normal? When does the energy come back?

It was normal for me. Felt rather lethargic for a week or two. Once the weight started coming off I felt more energetic. Don't worry, it will pass.

No, I'm certainly not getting all my Protein in. I'm probably only getting 30 grams of protein in. I feel as though my body isn't getting enough calories or nourishment!

I felt fatigued for about a month. Even though I am getting all my Protein now, I still feel that way some days. I am almost 2 months out. I find on the days I exercise that I really do have more energy.

I am sure it is a hard transition for the body to go from eating 3600+ calories a day to around 600 though.

Well sweetie, right now you probably aren't getting enough nourishment. Try to up the Protein, with the liquid diet you are on--and it really will start to feel better when you can add food to your diet. The time off of eating is SO important to healing---it is hard as hell, but necessary. You are almost through it tho!

When I felt like I couldn't put one foot in front of the other, I swapped out my SF popsicle, for one of my granddaughters regular sugar ones---and it perked me up a bit.

Are you taking any Vitamins? Childrens chewables they let me have right off the bat. And I can tell when I space mine out for a couple of days. When the kiddo isn't here to ask for hers, I tend to forget mine!!

I would continue to try to walk around the house, even tho you feel so exhausted, then drink something, and walk some more, the more you use the muscles in your body, the more they will respond.

Hang in there--- the worst of it is ALMOST behind you!!!!

If it melts to a liquid form when left out, I was told I could use it. You might look for some powder Protein supplements, and really bump your shake up some! When you get past the full liquid diet, you can add a tablespoon or so of Peanut Butter to the chocolate shakes---it tastes good and is good for you! But hang on for that for a few days.

You can also use a spoon full of SF pudding mix to flavor things up differently.

When I mixed the Extreme Smoothie shake with the 1/4 cup of vanilla frozen yogurt it is a fairly thin consistency. Sort of like a Dannon yogurt smoothie. Is there a problem with using frozen yogurt on the liquid stage?

As long as it is blended to a liquid, it should be fine---just nothing solid sitting in the stomach yet. If it feels something solid in there, it will try to digest and pass it on, by moving in a kneading type fashion, and you risk popping the stitches holding the band in place, if your stomach works to digest. But the liquid, if it can be sucked through a straw, you should be fine and dandy!

Thanks Kat! You're the best! It's nice be able to talk to people who have a lot of knowledge in this area! It helps!

Not so much knowledge as "been there done that!"----we ALL go through it!!! It is hard never knowing if what you are feeling is normal, or something to worry over.

A couple of weeks ago, I was sure I had slipped my band, I had super tight restriction, and my stomach was upset. I drove my husband nuts worrying about it---2 days later, he come home with the same stomach virus!!! It is hard not to blame or expect EVERYTHING to be band related!!! Once the bug we had went away, my restriction is right back to normal! Thank goodness!!!

Hang in there---it really does get easier!

Berry,

Myoplex (www.eas.com) has a whopping 48 grams of Protein per serving. Buy the RTD (ready to drink) stuff, as the powdered form of it mixes up really thick and will be a challenge to drink for you.

They come in three flavors, and I've been drinking them for a long time as a meal supplement for my workout programs. The Deluxe, if you want to push it a bit further, has 68 grams of Protein, I think. It's also loaded with dozens of other Vitamins and minerals. Pound for pound the most potent supplement around.

I got it far cheaper than at www.eas.com on www.supplementwarehouse.com. They ship it right to your door and have a pricematch guarantee.

Hello everyone. I have a surgery date for the second of April. I am so excited but at the same time very nervous. I have been sleeping very little because it is getting so close. And no one knows I am doing this besides my husband and my best friend. The questions I have to ask is first what did everyone do to prepare for the surgery before and after? And my Dr. told me that I could eat chewable Flinstones Vitamins. But I have found chewable Centrum vitamins. And I fell like I will get what I need out of these. Does anyone know if this is ok. As these have a fruit taste to them. I have already bought my Protein packets. So I will be ready for that. But any more good advice/my questions. Thank you to all and I look forwards to

making new friends thrue this long hall. Stacey I am blessed:clap2:

I have no clue where to upload this, so I'll put it here. This is pre-op vs the morning of my 6 month appointment! In office I weight 232, that's 88 lbs down since my highest weight, 75 lbs since my surgery weight! I can't believe this jacket fit... I am smaller now than the last time I was this size which the surgeon found really amusing. He's happy with where I am in my weight loss and estimates I'll be around 200 lbs by my 1 year anniversary! My lowest weight as an adult is 195, so that's pretty damn exciting to think I'll be near that at a year. Everything from there will be unknown territory!!

I changed my profile image to a molecule of protein. Why? Because I am certain that it saved my life.

That's brilliant! You've done amazing!! I should probably think about changing my profile picture at some point. Mine is the doll from Squid Games. Ironically the whole premise of the show is about dodging death. We've both done that...

Two years out. Lost 120 , regained 5 lbs. Recently has a bout of Norovirus, lost 7 pounds in two days. Now my stomach feels like it did right after my surgery. Sore, sensitive to even water.  Anyone out there have a similar experience?
