Hi everyone ! I was originally banded in 2007. I lost 50 lbs initially , then had several band issues and had Fluid removed. I've gained back about 30 lbs but luckily didn't return to my pre-op weight. My band has been empty for a couple of years now. I had an UGI/KUB yesterday to check band placement and for any possible issues. Everything looks good , just a wide open band. So yesterday I re-started my journey . I'm having to reteach myself the bandy lifestyle! Please feel free to offer up your most helpful tricks of the trade :)

Seems that many who have gained weight back, have had issues with the band, and not that of teir own doing....such as your story......

If me, I would concentrate on getting my band back in tip top working order....

I'm just wondering if you were given a fill.

Hi there and congratulations on this decision to get on track -- great news that your band is fine and now just to work your program, keeping appointments for fills as needed, etc. I am new (almost three months out) and don't really have any advice except that this forum has been so great for me. It helps remind me of what I'm doing and why, and I feel connected to so many others who are also working to turn around their health. Glad you are here! Only other thought is to look forward, not back -- no worrying over what didn't work before, just making it work now. You are choosing yourself first and your healthy future is in your hands -- very exciting times!

Thanks everyone . I don't think I worked it 100% last time, but I'm working 110% this time around!

Two months out from hiatal hernia repair.  Surgeon said to expect a lot more flatulence...something about the 'air' no longer being able to 'burp' out so comes out the other end.  That is my experience but have no understanding of why that swallowed air cannot be 'burped'. ???

As I understand it since your stomach is smaller and not completely resting against your diaphragm anymore you no longer have the ability to "push" burps out as well. Plus, since its smaller and we don't digest slower the trapped air moves a lot quicker out of the stomach so its no longer available to burp out. Hence the other option for removal.

Me too girl!! Are you in the full liquid diet right now? It’s sooooo hard!

      2. LadyVeteran1

Not yet. I was told I only have to do 24 hours of a liquid diet. But I have my pre-op tomorrow so I’m going to confirm if I need to do longer.

Down 33 lbs and slightly stalled, but I'm gonna reevaluate and push through. I started back to work last week after 2 years of being disabled due to mental health as well as my weight. It's a great job and I'm just so happy to have this opportunity at a second chance at life. Hope everyone is having their best journey ❤️ Together, we got this!
