My 600 pound life

Recommended Posts

Just watched this. She is totally out of her mind. I can't get over the amount of food she was eating after surgery! I hope she got the mental help she needed. I felt so bad for the little boy.

I watched it w my kids. Only my teenager know that I had this surgery, my 9 yr old doesn't, but hearing their reactions and how angry we were at Penny, that it def made me realize that I can't let myself fail w this tool. Ik its half mindset as well as the tool that's gonna get us to our goals. I remember at the start of my journey, I'd b mad somtms at the pre stuff I had to do BUT God knows I'm thankful for that process. Bc watching that woman take on this journey wo a psychologist and nutritionist pre surgery, I'm more appreciative for mine. I kept sayn the entire time, she's not mentally prepared n she had no1 to help keep her b accountable at home, it was a mess. My daughter said, I'm so mad at her, she wasted the shows time and the drs time, I'm mad at her! Again, thank God for my presurgery requirements:)

Ok I was looking into Munchausen disorder and I think she agreed to have the operation to be on TV. Because there's nothing they love more than to get attention for their illnesses.

One thing that is not clear because this is only an hour long show....We do NOT know if she had any type of pre surgery counseling or nutritionist meetings. We don't know what was done before she traveled to Texas, and she was inpatient in the hospital before surgery for an entire month. It is VERY possible she had a psych eval and nutritional counseling. She seemed very convincing in her desire to lose weight at the start of the show. She could have convinced others she was sincere, which would make her actions post op even more disgusting. She may have only been playing to the cameras how she "didn't know" going in what to do or expect. ( Again I do NOT believe that claim. She had access to the internet and any basic Google search would have supplied her with tons of information!!!) I believe she manipulated the entire thing, from her family to the people who were genuinely trying to help her. God help her and especially her son. One day he may look back at that show and see the truth for himself.

I am going to look this up on my guide when I get home and see when it plays again to dvr it... then when I'm feeling "low", I can listen to this and remind myself what NOT to do... I agree with all of the above, attention grabber/needer is apparent from all of the comments, even without seeing the show! This is informative and I NEED to tape it and save it for future reference!!!

Last night she made me want to cry for her. It was so sad. I feel for her poor child

the penny episode really upset me..

she refused to help herself and she was in complete denial..

she is a perfect example of a person who thought *just having WLS*

would help her magically lose 100 pounds overnight....and be at goal weight in two weeks.......she is whom WLS gets a bad rap from....

the dr saying to the tv camera, she wont get up, she makes herself be disabled and that she is not really needing oxygen summed her life up....she wants the world to go.....you poor thing, let me help.....and when they do.......its woe me, no one explained to me this or that and on and on.....

she chose to live the life she is now.....and she wont be around much

longer until she decides to do something about it.....like everyone who had WLS did......but we took it a step further, we did what we were told to do for best results.....

omg i watched the replay of this last night too and i was floored. i kept thinking how could she even fit that much in her stomach after the surgery. she was eating from a few different plates. and how the hell could she not get up and walk. i was terrified to NOT walk after my surgery for fear of the blood clots. so sad for the little boy....i felt like this gave me motivation to keep going wtih my weight loss plan though...i have to control what goes in my mouth as hard as it is sometimes.i still hold the power.

Did anyone watch last nights episode - Zsalynn's story? Her husband was such an A-Hole! I'm still floored! Made me so thankful for my husband who could not be more supportive and just plain old kind.

It is not easy losing hundreds of pounds -- and even less so when your husband is a jerk who eats fries in front of you. That is the plight of Zsalynn

Keep in mind she used to do BBW porn and that is how her husband met her. Yes he's a total jerk but he obviously has a strong preference for large women.

My husband found the one on Penney and is taping it...but is this some kind of series? Seems like someone decided to do "reality" on WLS...but where are all the PRO people...the people that did what they were told and blossomed??? Not as big of a story, huh?

Yes...My 600lb Life is a series. Try to catch Olivia's story. She is one who has done great. She had some hard times, but she fought through and ended the show in the 240s! ( She was over 600lbs to start) She posts on the My 600lb Life website and she said she is still trying to lose another 100lbs. I believe she might just make it. Thank God I saw her episode before the Penny one. I might have totally lost it had I not had her inspiration to balance the night! LOL

The first series followed people for many years. Most of the people were successful in the long run.

I think someone who is at 600 pounds might have deeper issues than people who are at 300. It sure seemed like they were more severely addicted to food and lived with enablers more than what I read on the boards.

They seemed to have more ups and downs.

This version only follows them for less than a year. And I do think that isn't a long time for someone who is that big and who has put food so far ahead of their own life. I could be wrong. I'm not trying to judge. Sometimes I think that could be me.

I've hit a stall 9 months out. I'm not worried, though. My fitness levels continue to improve and I have nearly accomplished my pre-surgery goal of learning to scuba dive! One dive left to complete to get my PADI card 🐠
I was able to go for a 10K/6mile hike in the mountains two days ago just for the fun of it. In the before days, I might have attempted this, but it would have taken me 7 or 8 hours to complete and I would have been exhausted and in pain for the next two days. Taking my time with breaks for snacks and water, I was finished with my wee jaunt in only 4 hours 😎 and really got to enjoy photographing some insects, fungi, and turtles.

I have no clue where to upload this, so I'll put it here. This is pre-op vs the morning of my 6 month appointment! In office I weight 232, that's 88 lbs down since my highest weight, 75 lbs since my surgery weight! I can't believe this jacket fit... I am smaller now than the last time I was this size which the surgeon found really amusing. He's happy with where I am in my weight loss and estimates I'll be around 200 lbs by my 1 year anniversary! My lowest weight as an adult is 195, so that's pretty damn exciting to think I'll be near that at a year. Everything from there will be unknown territory!!

I changed my profile image to a molecule of protein. Why? Because I am certain that it saved my life.

That's brilliant! You've done amazing!! I should probably think about changing my profile picture at some point. Mine is the doll from Squid Games. Ironically the whole premise of the show is about dodging death. We've both done that...
